Update will not install. It says close any other Firefox windows currently open, only one open is the update window.
You Tube videos flicker or shuffle very fast, Display expands to the right then slides to the left every second. I might have to uninstall Firefox. This is a mess.
I have downloaded and installed Firefox 3.6.8 and entered. I couldn't get back into the next day. I used EXIT.

Using Mac OSX Install Disc 1, I am not able to get any further than the Partition tab. It allows me to select my hard drive selection, but will not allow me to make any other selections such as options. Does anyone know their way around this obstacle? Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks
Hello, The Hatter, I read about the 'trick' of backing up, erasing, and restoring too, but I figured it would take longer than defragmenting the disk.
But the defragmentation process has just finished! so I'm gonna try to run Boot Camp again soon!
Thanks for your helpfulness, anyway.
And P.S. I didn't clone my system onto the external drive, I just inserted the Mac OS X Install CD, rebooted holding down the "C" key, and installed a fresh Snow Leopard system onto the predetermined partition. I will use that in cases of emergency, when my main/internal system becomes unusable. -

The latest iTunes update will not install on my HP laptop with Windows Vista. There is a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message and it will not load or set p.
I reinstall Quicktime and it would not launch and gave me the same error messages.
We'd better check to see if some other application has stashed old versions of QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -

I was able to use Firefox until today. it will not open. i tried to update it. It downloads a newer version just fine. WhenI try to install it, it says to close firefox. Firefox isnot open. I also tried to unistall it and it won't let me.
Hi kshikuma. This happens to me sometimes, as well.
To solve this issue, open the Windows Task Manager by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Go to the "Processes" tab and see if a process named "firefox.exe" or "plugin-container.exe" is opened. Close any and all such processes by right-clicking them and selecting "End Process". -
Use Firefox. Have BBC iPlayer which will not load, saying I need a newer version of Adobe Air: when trying to instal Adobe Air, get message saying I already have a more recent version. It worked when I was using IE, but not since changing to Firefox.
Hi there,
stumbled on this conversation after having problems myself.
After lots of trial and error, I was finally able to install iPlayer on my MacBook Pro.
Firstly remove Adobe Air (Applications, Utilities, Adobe Air Uninstaller).
Reboot (not sure if it is needed but it is what I did).
Download Adobe Air 2.5 from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85304.html
Then retry installing iPlayer from the BBC webpage. I ignored the prompt from Adobe Air to upgrade to the latest version (3.1). -
Mountain lion will not install - messages says the hard drive is for time machine

I have 3 drives that show up
Mac-ssd
bootcamp
mac storage drive
it will not let me pick any drive(have not tried bootcamp)
it says that this drive is being used by time machine
lesnorvellYour Mac has a directory named Backups.backupdb located on it. If you have good time machine backups somewhere else, you can delete the directory and ML will allow you to select the drive.

Adobe Reader will not install. Says I have to be signed in as Admin. I am
My Adobe Reader stopped letting me print any PDF files. I went thru troubleshooting with another company, still wouldn't let me print. So I uninstalled Adobe Reader, restarted my computer and have tried 4 times to download and install it again. I even tried it from the direct link. It gets so far into the installation and gives me an error saying I have to be signed in as Admin. This is my personal computer and I am the Admin. I do not have any other accounts set up on the computer except me as Admin. . HELP
You don't say which OS you are using and that would be helpful, but try creating a new Admin account and then installing under that account.

Basically acer netbook will not allow us to update Firefox from ver 3.5 to 7, check for updates box is greyed out, thanks for your help
Hi James,
Many thanks for your reply, the machine was bought from Currys the 3.6 download warns you it will only be supported for a short time, and recommends downloading ver 7, I am unfamiliar with the workings of Linux but the machine has been good, there must be a solution, no problem if we have to pay for the upgrade. Many thanks for your help,
Cheers, Steve -
Flash Player will not install - OSX 10.9.5 w/ Firefox 34.0.5
I know this question has been asked before, but since no one seems to have an answer for it I have no choice but to ask again.
I was having trouble posting scores on a gaming website. The game ran fine, and I could log in successfully, but my scores never showed on the player list. The help section of the site suggested uninstalling / reinstalling Flash Player. I was having trouble with Flash elsewhere so I thought I'd give it a try. The uninstall was successful but now Flash will not reinstall. Now instead of a malfunctioning Flash Player I have no Flash Player at all.
The install process goes as it should - the installer uploads to my desktop, I open it, I get the "Adobe Flash Player Installer" window, I double-click in the icon, I'm asked if I'm "sure I want to open it," I click "open," I enter my administrator password, then comes the problem. The next pop-up window has a black background and for about 1/2 second you can see the words "Retrieving Install" and a loading progress bar, then the words disappear and you're left looking at the blank black box. That's it.
I have Ghostery, Lightbeam, and HTTPS Everywhere add-ons on Firefox. I turned Ghostery off through this process.
Thanks in advance.Well, good news. I solved it. And it's beyond bizarre that no one has suggested this.
Nested deep, deep, in the the help section is this:
Still having problems?
If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer directly from the following sites:
Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI
Flash Player for Opera and Chromium-based browsers - PPAPI
Apparently Adobe doesn't have a copy of its own software that works? Ridiculous but true. You actually have to download it from your browser's website.
Adobe, you all seriously need to get your act together. -
I just bought new I5. It won't connect to Itunes( The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.).
I try to download new Version of Itunes. It says that i need version Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
How can I update to a newer version when my computer tells me there are no available updates?? I am confused!!Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

firefox disabled my version of java, i went to the free download site to get the newest version, clicked on download then doubled click on it in the download list, this should have started the intallation but instead i got a message saying i needed an application to open the link and wanted me to choose an app. Install box did not come up as it has with other downloads. I do not want to open it i want to install it.
Where did you download the java?

I am trying to update to version 5.0. After it as if I want standard or custom installation, it says I have to reboot my computer to finish a previous installation. I tried rebooting several times to no avail. When I upgraded to 4.01 the list of search engines on the address bar dissapeared. I was hoping 5.0 would fix that.
Do you get any Java error or security messages?
There has been a change in the Java security settings, see:
*"What should I do when I see a security prompt from Java?":<br>http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydialogs.xml
If you visit a website regularly then a possible workaround is to add the URL to the Java Exceptions Site List, see:
*"Why are Java applications blocked by your security settings?":<br>http://www.java.com/en/download/help/java_blocked.xml
*"How can I configure the Exception Site List?":<br>http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/exception_sitelist.xml
