Update Wiped my iTouch

I updated my iTunes, and then my iTouch, and now all the apps are there, but my information in them is gone. Such as, my filled calendar is now blank, game history is gone, note apps are like they were when they were new. I saw a suggestion to refresh the iPod from iTunes, so I did that, but it didn't change anything. My Apps still don't have the old information. What should I do? Is there anything I CAN do? I would really like that information back.
-Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated-

You all are very lucky. You still have an iPod that at least works, even though you have lost some data. When I tried to install OS 4.0.2 it froze midway in the process and that was it. I have rebooted the iPod and tried everything I can think of to get the thing working. I took it to a local Mac dealer today, who was also unable to get it working. It is totally inoperative, all due to trying to install a legitimate Apple software update. Of course the unit is one week out of warranty, so I am screwed. Contacting online repair service was an interesting experience, they said, "Sorry it's out of warranty, but we will be glad to fix it for $220.00" Oh yeah, I'm going to do that. I found online that a 3G 32gb (refurbed)can be bought for--you guessed it--$220.00. So right now I have a new paperweight, with the only solution being the purchase of a new unit. I am amazed at the nerve of Apple to abandon customers who have problems totally due to its own hardware/software malfunctioning and not to any actions on my part. I am very angry, to put it mildly. If anyone knows of any other options, I would sure like to know what they are.

  • Update wiped everything out of iphoto

The latest auto update wiped everything out of iphoto leaving me an empty app. The photos are still in the library,...in a gagillion folders, but isn't there some way to restore all the albums and everything I had before? And is this going to happen every time there is an update?

Option click iPhoto and select Choose Library. Navigate to the iPhoto Library and iPhoto should see it now.
Is this going to happen every time there is an update?
No, I think that it just went wrong this time.

  • IOS5 update wiped my ipod completely

Updated to iOS5 this morning and have just spent the last 3 hours reinstalling everything back on to my ipod. The update wiped EVERYTHING and would not back up with a message that the back up file could not be found despite having spent several minutes backing up prior to the update.  Apps, music, photos, mail settings - all gone! Not happy!

i started the backup at about 5:45am and once it was done i upgraded and it took till like till about 15 min ago before everything was done and my i-pod touch 4th gen was useable again. i even saw the apps being backed up.
edit: my images are there but apps, music and videos all not on the i-pod touch.

  • If I download a version update to my itouch, will I lose all my playlists?

If I download a new version update to my itouch, will I lose all of my playlists that I currently have on it?

Updating should not remove your playlists, though it's always possible that something could go wrong. It's usually best to have your playlists in iTunes so that you can restore them to your iPod should that ever be necessary.
    Regards.

  • The update wiped everything off my phone.

The update wiped everything off my phone. It was updating fine, and I came back to the dreadful "plug into itunes" symbol.
Can someone please let me know why it did this? I updated to the iOS 7 without any problems like this. It's the iOS 7.0.2 that really effed me over.
I am truly devastated. All the pictures of my family are lost because I didn't think that this would wipe out my phone. If I had known, I would have backed it up.

No device in the world is perfect, and if those photos were so important,
they SHOULD have been backed up in the first place, regardless of what
    device they were on.

I updated my itouch yesterday with 2.1 and it wiped out my in and out e-mail in Outlook. I'm running Windows Vista. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. My last .pst backup is too old to salvage the damage done with this update.

Are the other iPods that work iPod touches (or iPhones or iPads)? iOS devices like iPod touches use additional drives to those used by "dumb" iPods.

  • How do I update my old itouch???

    Help.
I have a 3.1 version of the itouch.  I can not download the music on it that I have purchased through my iphone 4.
    Can anyone help???
    Lisa

Not sure if 3.1 is the software version, or the model number, but it doesn't matter...
Connect the iPod touch to iTunes on your computer. On the Summary page for that Device, click on the Check for Update button, to see if newer software is available for it.
All your contents from both devices should be kept on your computer, in iTunes and photo app. You can then select in iTunes what you want to sync to each iDevice.

  • Updating Podcasts on iTouch Wirelessly

How come you can go on the iTunes store and download songs but you can't wirelessly update your podcasts?
C'mon Apple in your next update add a soft button to podcasts called 'Update'. It would make your awesome iTouch that much more useful!
    Thanks!

    Hello.
I agree that it would be great to be able to update your podcasts directly over WiFi using the iPod touch, however there is a workaround if you're desperate. You may find it a little awkward if you're used to using iTunes to discover podcasts, as it involves going to the podcaster's Web site but it does work.
The Safari browser on the iPod touch has RSS reader functionality so you can listen to the latest podcasts over WiFi by doing the following:
    1) Make a Bookmarks folder in Safari on your iPod touch to hold your podcast bookmarks. You might want to call it something like 'Podcasts'.
    2) Visit the Web sites of your favourite podcasters (such as BBC, NPR etc.) and look for the RSS link or icon for the podcast. Note that this is not the same RSS feed usually as the news headlines text feed of these sites and usually have a little orange RSS icon
    3) Click the RSS podcast link or icon in Safari and you should find that Safari's RSS reader page is displayed with a list of all of the current podcasts for that podcaster.
    4) Below each podcast entry you should see a small play button. Clicking this should cause Safari to begin to buffer then play the selected podcast episode.
    5) After the podcast is finished playing, hit the Safari back button to go to the main RSS podcasts page and bookmark this, making sure your put it in your new Podcasts folder so all of your podcast links are stored together.
You should be able to hit the sleep button on your iPod touch while the podcast is playing to save your battery while listening. I've tried this with audio and video podcasts and it seems to work fine. The down side is that you cannot save any of these podcasts - you can only play them when you have WiFi access - however at least you can gain access to them.
    Hope this helps.

  • Automatic Update wiped my library

Two weeks ago, the day before due to fly to UK I accepted an automatic update. Later that day I went into itunes to play music and found my entire library wiped clean, empty! Searched my hardrive for missing files but could find none. Then tried looking in windows media player and found about 20 tracks. Talk about stressed! thats over 900 tracks gone AWOL including those purchased from itunes store. When I go into itunes now, no purchases listed. I do not have the time to spend hours and hours to find solution. Can anybody HELP!

The library in iTunes may be empty but installing update does not delete the media files. Add the files to your library again.

  • Update wiped my libraries and didn't make a backup file, what now?

    Using window 7 64bit
Ever since I moved to windows 7 itunes has given me nothing but problems. if I plugged in my ipod or iphone or any other USB device while itunes was open, the PC would either BOSD or completely lock up so you can't move the mouse, ctrlaltdel or anything. Because of this, it already wiped my phone once at the stage where the phone is rebooted during the update, I was thankfully able to restore a backup after a lot of work (which included downgrading itunes. it still freezes if anything is plugged in while itunes is open, but it let me restore and update the phone).
Because of that, I refused to update itunes for months. Today, I made the mistake of updating this POS software and guess what? It not only wiped my libraries, but it didn't make a backup I could restore to before it upgraded.
On the up side, it no longer crashes my PC if I attach or remove my phone with itunes open! Yay! but seeing as there are no library backups and it won't let me sync the **** thing because it's set to another library so it will only wipe it, making me lose all my important contacts & notes and apps and everything else, there's really no point to use itunes now, is there? I don't care about music libraries at this point, it's a huge hassle to redo it all, but if I can't sync my phone without losing everything I might as well just get another phone that doesn't put me through this every few months.
Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my files off my phone/transfer from the phone to the PC instead of doing a full wipe? itunes has to be the worst software I've ever used, and as a product analyst it's my job to work with really buggy software all day.

Let's start with trying to clear that one up.
What make and model of PC do you have? If it's a custom/home-built PC, what make and model of motherboard do you have?
(I want to check to see if it's got either an nVidia chipset or an Intel 5-series chipset.)

  • Adobe Flash Player update wiped HD again

I'm about to give up on this stupid Adobe/Apple war.  I'm traveling and updated Flash, only to find out it had wiped out every settings in Firefox and when I rebooted, another install happened and damaged my HD beyond repair.  Disk Utility is hopeless.  It can't repair the HD.  I didn't know there was an uninstall for Flash.
This is the third time in 2 months an update wipes my HD, and each time it seems Adobe was part of the installs.
I'm fed up with this ******** war between those two.  I'm loosing money, productivity and it's it's only hurting us.  Now I'm stuck traveling and can't work.  This is not Apple, these are the problems I used to have with Windows.
Any idea what to do?  I'm stuck?  I booted from an external drive which is painfully slow...  I'm so fed up.  Is there a class action law suit. This is costing me too, too much money and time.

Nonsense. Software does not destroy a HD. Boot your Mac into its Recovery HD by holding dowm the command + r key after the chime. Choose Disk Utility and click on Verify Disk. If its in need of repair be sure you have a backup then hit repair.
