Update without permissions, then had to uninstall and re-install browser
I have Firefox setup to notify me about updates, but not actually update without my say so. Today, Firefox updated itself to v37, crashed, then would not re-open. After several re-starts of my computer I had to uninstall and re-install the browser and now it on update v37. If I wanted it to auto-update I would select the option for that, but I don't.
The questions are 'why did it update when it's not supposed to' and 'why did it have to be re-installed after it updated itself without permission'.
When the message about a Firefox update being available comes up, the user has to ''[first]'' see that message, which tends to go behind the main browser window if the user is typing or clicking something at the exact instance that dialog box appears. And ''[2nd]'' say "not now" immediately, otherwise after 30 seconds the download will proceed without waiting for a response. It has been like that since June 2008 when Firefox 3.0 was released.

FYI: Had to uninstall and re-install Audible
Just updated my iPhone 5s to IOS 8.0
Audible app would crash on startup, apparently, as it was updating the news items.
To solve the problem, I uninstalled and re-installed. The only downer is I now have to re-download my audiobooks, which is *slow*.I'm sorry to say it, but if you can't login to sync, your bookmarks is lost.

not sure what to write here, as i have already asked the question
Are you using Microsoft word? Microsoft thinks the users are idiots. They put up a lot of pointless messages that annoy & worry users. I have seen this message from Microsoft word. It's annoying.
As BDaqua points out...
When you copy information via edit > copy, command + c, edit > cut, or command +x, you place the information on the clipboard. When you paste information, edit > paste or command + v, you copy information from the clipboard to your data file.
If you edit > cut or command + x and you do not paste the information and you quite Word, you could be loosing information. Microsoft is very worried about this. When you quite Word, Microsoft checks if there is information on the clipboard & if so, Microsoft puts out this message.
You should be saving your work more than once a day. I'd save every 5 minutes. command + s does a save.

I recently uninstalled Firefox after my MASTER PASSWORD would not accept my chosen password and there was no way to reset it, change it, or stop it from popping up at every site login. I then re-installed it hoping to fix a problem, but all my saved bookmarks, pages, pins, tabs were all gone.
How do I get them back? Especially my bookmarks?I'm sorry to say it, but if you can't login to sync, your bookmarks is lost.

Hi,
When I tried to install iTunes update this failed, then tried to uninstall and reinstall itunes twice. Failed again. Could not open iTunes. I use an HP PC. Even tried to disable Macafee firewall, still itunes failed to install. Please help!!Followed these instructions with a few changes. (Windows 7 x64)
Uninstalled programs in the following order:
- Itunes
- Apple Application Support
- Apple Software Update
- Bonjour
- Apple Mobile Device Support (uninstall failed due to Apple Mobile Device failure)***
- Restarted System
- Redownloaded Itunes from website.
- Run installer as Administratot
- Succefully installed
***To uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
- Right clicked on Apple Mobile Device Support, Clicked Charge (second option), Repair, Next (failed to repari)
- Right clicked the Apple Mobile Device Support in the Programs and Features window and clicked Repair (third option in drop down list). (repaired successfully)
- Uninstall successful after the repair.
Below is a guess at a quicker solution:
Looking at the uninstalls, it may be worth trying to repair the Apple Mobile Device Support through the Program and Features window before trying to uninstall everything. It may be a faster fix for the freezing service. After the repair is successful the itunes update may work.
Hope this helps. -
I had to uninstall and re-install iTunes on my PC (Windows XP). I had had to do this previously (yrs ago) and it recovered my music. This time it didn't and I only have the music that I had checked (which was on my iPhone 4S). None of the other songs were recovered (MANY). Any advice on how to restore? I know I can store it to iCloud (NOW). But it wasn't saved in iCloud previously. Thanks!
It most definitely is the browser that is causing most of the problems. I have used Firefox so long, I can't even remember. Maybe since its beginning. But today is a sad day. I gave up on it. I can't accomplish anything and end up spending hours troubleshooting. I see I am not alone. I am so sick of it "not responding." It's simply not worth it to spend so much time trying to make the thing work, so I can actually do something. Installed, removed, reinstalled numerous times, and I can't fix your software on my Win 7 Pro machine. No problems with IE or Chrome. So. as much as I hate Google Update, Chrome has won the test. Sad, sad day for me to lose Firefox, but it just does not work on the Win 7 machine. I don't have the same issues with the XP machine and have exactly all the same add-ons. Keep it up developers and you will have no Win 7 users at all.

Can anyone help me? The iTunes update corrupted my program. I uninstalled, and then reinstalled iTunes; only to find an error message about iTunes Helper. After several fruitless, repeat attempts, I am at a loss. Please help…
Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
When I open iWeb it does not "Highlight" the New site or new page options. It has had this issue for over a year! I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it. What do I do? It opens the tutorial video, then when you close it, nothing else is clickable.
Open iPhoto, select a couple of photos and use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo page menu option. That has jump started iWeb for others. I could take a couple of tries.
If that doesn't work try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iiWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder.
3 - launch iWeb and try again.

Firefox 5 won't access the internet. I had to uninstall and reinstall an earlier version. Now I'm annoyed by "update firefox" messages.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

*http://www.superantispyware.com/ - SuperAntispyware

*http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx - Windows Defender: Home Page
*http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html - Spybot Search & Destroy
You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Also make sure that the firewall isn't blocking Firefox if you've used system restore.
Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.<br />
You may need to (re)install software that was affected.<br />
Delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to be sure that all files get updated. -
@Why is it when I go to open a file in Photoshop cc I get a "Could not complete your request because of a program error". I have uninstalled and re-installed software, It works for a short time then I get that error again when i go to open a file. Thank you!
Without proper system information and other details like what files you work with nobody can tell you much. From corrupted prefs to issues with your PS swap file to actual problems with the fiel storage this could be anything.

I have a iMac and i just updated the computer to Yosemite. I have Photoshop CS5 and when I try to print under print size --- manage custom size , photoshop unexpectedly quits every time. I updated the printer drivers (epson 9880) uninstalled and installed all the drivers. restarted computer and it is still doing the same thing. Cant find any costumer service here either except forums.
I have exactly the same problem - Whenever I go to Print, the print widow appears, it thinks about it for a bit (rotating symbol) and then quits.
This is the beginning of the problem details, cut and paste. It goes on much longer than this:

I have updated to Itunes 10.5 on Windows and everytime i start it now, it says "updating Itunes library" and crashes at around 75%. i have uninstalled and re-installed it. No joy! Someone help! Thanks Umar.
Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working? -
Firefox can't open normally without going through the "this is embarrassing" routine; nor does it close down properly; I get the "end program" message and have to say "end now"it also sticks frequently, i.e. screen freezes for a minute or more; should I uninstall and re-install to try and debug?
- I've used Firefox exclusively for around 2 years.
- My outlook express has no problems
- other programs seem unaffected; it seems peculiar to Firefox.
- my main use is surfing the net, primarily entering competitions on line via specialist competition sites.
- every day at some stage(s) I have to switch computer off as Firefox has got very slow/sticky/freezes.
I'm not techy by any means, but I can only thing of un- and re-installing to hopefully start with a clean slate.Sounds like something is keeping Firefox from closing properly. See this: <br />

My iPhone used to work in iTunes but quit working. I checked my USB portal and it works with other devices. I also uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. I added updates to my phone and re-booted it. I am not sure what else to do. My iPhone also locked in vertical position and no longer goes to horizontal.

There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.
