Update woes: LION 10.7.2 and iCloud

I did the 3 lengthy updates recommended by Software Update for my Late 2009 iMac and Early 2011 MBP. Now, both computers show that guest log in option at boot up even though nothing in System Preferences Users and Groups is checked for that! Also, since I installed the horrible LION OSX, my iMac wakes up from sleep inproperly about every 5 times where the magic trackpad and magic mouse both cease functioing and I have to power off the iMac and restart it to get things right.
Also, since Lion, typing and inserting letters into words causes words to get jumbled up as well as groups of words. Hate LION!!! I now have LION 10.7.2

the guest account is a security measure and is a new feature of lion. All computer should have a guest account in the case that your computer gets stolen they can still use it and hopefully you'll be able to see where it is.

Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Now find a way of stopping the thief removing the SIM, or simply turning off the phone or restoring it.
The "Find" feature is useful if you mislay the phone, but not usually of value if the phone is stolen.

When I try to do this it just gets stuck with a box saying connecting to software update server. This has never happened before. I cannot update or restore either the phone or the iPad in iTunes although I have synced the info. What should I do?

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

HT5281 Update to Lion 10.7.4 and Security update 02/2012 upped Ruby load to the ceiling

After updating our home Mac mini server to Lion 10.7.4 and Security update 02/2012, with the machine now just sitting idle, no user logged-in, network cable unplugged, Ruby is generating 96% load on the CPU at all times, with processor temperature running near its limit and fans blowing full-blast.
Switching off the Wiki server cut the load back to normal, Ruby process went behind the curtain, and things appear back to normal, but of course this is no cure, it's just a temporary fix-up.
Any other user is experiencing anything similar?
Any possible solution in form of a next update coming soon, for the graphic-shell-only illiterate users like me?

Yesterday I applied the latest Lion Server Update to my Mac Mini Server (not sure about the update's number).
I also experienced the "fans blowing full-blast" symptom for no apparent reason (no heavy apps running - Mac almost idle- and CPU, HDD, Network monitors flatlining). As well as a minor issue on the screen-sharing side: it didn't display the initial grey-background login page, but after I logged in blindly it was fine.
The update did a restart but no power-off, so I thought the issues might occur because the hardware hadn't properly reset (yep, I had to use Windows at work...)
Dunno if that was the cause, but after a shutdown, power-off and restart, the symptoms disappeared. Will see... so far so good.

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

I keep getting the itunes update message and when I accept the terms and conditions it just keeps going back to tell me I have 3 updates itunes, safari and icloud and goes back to accept message without actually downloading?

What is going on with itunes update? I keep getting the message that updates are available for itunes, safari and icloud, but when I accept the terms and conditions and the install 3 items message, it keeps going back to telling me there are 3 updates available and have to accept terms and conditions again without it ever installing!! I am using a PC with windows vista. Have not had this problem till December when I got an ipad and had icloud installed, don't know if there is a connection.

I can't offer any help but it soulds like Apple goofed with the latest update. Many of us have the same problem. I may wait a week or so to see if Apple responds.

Lion 10.7.4 and java problem

i recently updated to lion 10.7.4 and noticed that Pogo games stopped loading. (on my PC they work fine.)
later, used safari to do something that had worked before but now noticed that the graphic that you're
supposed to be able to read for security authentication was not displaying.
seems to be that lion 10.7.4 is causing some problem with java.
oh, i have a macbook pro that is less than a year old.
is there some way to uninstall 10.7.4 to get back to 10.7.3 ?

You need to install Java on Lion, it doesn't come by default. To do so, open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal,app) and type
java -version
You will get a prompt to install it. After it's installed, go to
Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.app
Click 'General' tab and check the 'Enable' box.

Go to System Preferences and Display. Then check the box at the bottom to show the Mirror Option in the menu bar. Hook up your HDMI/Coverter cable to your MacBook and to your TV and set the right input on the TV. If only a blank screen shows up and you can switch to the new display, change the option at the top to Scaled and try again. This should work.
There's also a goofy bug that sometimes this doesn't work when a 2009 system gets upgraded to Mountain Lion. As long as you're on 10.8.2 (latest version with all the patches), this software bug shouldn't be there.

As Retired Engineer indicated, you will need to install Snow Leopard first. After you install Snow Leopard, you need to go into Software Update and perform the updates. 10.6.6 will install the App Store. You should continue to update to 10.6.8 before purchasing and installing Lion from the App Store.
Be sure your machine meets the minimum requirements. Basically, any Mac with a Core 2 Duo processor or later and at least 2GB of RAM (but 4 is highly recommended). If you have a first generation MacBook Pro with a Core Duo, you will not be able to upgrade to Lion.
