Update wrecked formatting

I opened a document that I print out occasionally, and I discovered that the document, which used to fit nicely on two sides of a page, now runs over onto three pages.
I printed out a copy to see what was the problem, and, comparing it with an old printout, I see that the line spacing (leading between all the lines) has increased slightly compared to the old document. This explains why it will no longer print out onto two sides of a page.
The line spacing is just a teeny tiny bit greater than it used to be, but with all the lines in the document, it adds up to keep the document from printing out properly.
I thought I originally had the document set to a standard line spacing. I don't understand how something that was "standard" could now have changed.
How can I fix this? If I can't fix it systemwide, how can I fix the spacing of an individual document?
The formatting of all my documents shouldn't be wrecked just because I updated the software.
Pages v. 4.3 (1048)

What update are you referring to?
What do you presume "standard" to mean? Did you set the line spacing to "Exactly"
Have you changed the font or your System?
Have you opened the file in Word?

  • "Lightrrom couldn't update the format of its catalog file and must quit. ..".

I had no trouble updating my small catalogs but my large one I tried several times. After around 45 minutes I see a dialog box that says
"Lightroom couldn't update the format of its catalog file and must quit. Your previous catalog will be restored".
Any help on how I can get LR to open the catalog. No problems with the integrity check. The catalog was working just fine in version 1.0.

    I had the same issue.
Fortunately I had backed up up my db before the upgrade.
I exited then restarted LR and created a new db - so it would start.
With my backup copied to a safe location I then opened the backup db. The conversion completed successfully and everything appears OK.
    Hope this may help

  • Will FC Express be updating its format soon?

I was wondering if anyone has heard if FC Express was going to update its format anytime soon. I am looking into buying a new camcorder, and I don't want to be as limited to what I can buy as I am right now. Obviously, right now it only supports DV and HDV, what about avchd, or m-peg, or any of the other formats. If anyone has any info on this, I would appreciate it. thanks

Speculation about future releases is prohibited by the terms of usage of the forum. Nobody knows anyway.

  • After Exchange 2010 SP3 and rollup 4 update conditional formatting causes messages not to appear in Outlook 2010

    Hi,
after updating to exchange 2010 sp 3 from sp 2 and also updating to rollup 4, users who use conditional formatting cannot see new message unless they close and reopen Outlook.
If you decide to change the font colour for unread messages, the messages do not appear in Outlook but a pop up indicates that a new message has arrived.
If you reopen Outlook, the unread messasge appears.
remove the conditional formatting and no issue with viewing unread messages as they arrive.
    running Outook version 14.0.7106.5003
is this a known issue?  a user who never used conditional formatting will experience this right away.
    Thanks,
    rudif

    Hi rudif,
If the issue only happens to users who use conditional formatting and OWA can work well for all mailbox, I think the issue should be in client side.
Please try to reset View then set the conditional formatting back to have a try. If the issue continues, please try to recreate the Outlook profile to check whether the issue persists. Also try restarting Outlook in Safe mode by running
    Outlook /safe switch.

  • Icons in Finder after update, DVD format, .sit extensions?

    Hi,
I am a new Mac user and have just purchased a new PowerBook. Had a couple of questions....
How do I format my DVD+RW media in Mac? I would like to rewrite the DVD.
Secondly, I got a prompt that there were new updates available for my Mac, so I downloaded them, after which the documents and other icons dissappeared from the finder window sidebar. Where did these go? I had installed MSN messenger for Mac and LimeWire, had to re-install them. Can some one please explain!
I also downloaded some softwares for my Mac with the .sit extension, but somehow I can't install these softwares, can someone guide me how to install it.
    Thanks for your time!

  • Reader X automatically updates PDF Format V1.1 to 1.6

    Hi!
After noticing that our customers often get a "Save File" prompt, after only watching a PDF-File, i investigated this, and it turned out, that the Adobe Reader X updates PDFs in File Format 1.1 automatically to PDF Format 1.6.
Is there a way to prohibit this behaviour? the documents are placed in a database, so even if they would, they cant change the old ones.
Thanks for any help on this!

    Hi!
I've tested the issue again with Adobe Reader 10.1.4 on MS Windows XP Pro. SP3, MS Windows 7 Pro. SP1 32-bit and 64-bit with the following drivers:
    - HP Universal Printing PS package ver. 5.5.0.12834 (driver ver. 61.130.04.12834) for printing to HP LaserJet 4100 DTN (224 MiB of RAM) and HP Color LaserJet 4700dn (288 MiB of RAM)
    - Samsung Universal Print Driver PS ver. 2.03.09.00_41 for printing to Samsung ML-3051DN printer with 64 MiB of RAM
Printing of the sample 6-page PDF file (https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=ojv64pOBncq6XxtSiRqSkw) is still slow because the document stays long in the Windows print queue. Here are the test results:
    - printing with the HP UPD PS driver - 120 sec.
    - printing with the Samsung UPD PS driver - 220 sec.
When the same PDF file is printed in FoxitReader 5.4.4 the document stays in the print queue for only 15 sec.
Enabling the Print As Image option in the Reader's Advanced Print Setup can help to some degree (it gives better kB/sec. ratio but it increases the size of the print job).
I'd really appreciate it if developers at Adobe improved the Reader in order to solve the issue with the PS drivers.

  • N96 - Update and Format

    Hi
is there a way to workaround the last option to format a phone after update?
Last update the multimedia key was not working after update,
whatever i did it not activate, so after formating it worked.
But to install always all applications is terrible and if you format the programs on the 16 gb drive
are sometimes not working too all and then last option is always to format this drive also :-(
Are there no folders or files a user can check, delete and maybe not having to format and reinstall everything
    after update?
Or how to backup necessary files without appearing same problems after restoring?

The user data protection feature in this new model should protect the licence keys for preinstalled content, but just in case you should also backup the phone with Ovi PC Suite (note: not standard Nokia PC Suite) before taking the action.

  • Update PC formatted i Pod on mac? and podcast synching questions

I have my 30G iPod formatted for PC, b/c I use it as an external drive. iTunes 7.0.1 on my mac (my home base for synching music, games, podcasts, etc) says it can't update a PC formatted iPod.
I can't synch the game I bought, but that wouldn't be enough to make me try to update to 1.2 if I wasn't having problems with my podcasts synching. Most synch properly, some don't. I get the message that says my software is too old. I can't seem to manually drag the problem 'casts either. They are just regular podcasts, with no chapters or video.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
For example, can I download iTunes 7 to a windows machine and update my PC iPod over there? will it wipe all my music? I considered this, but it would be a pain to re-load everything. Would this help the problem?
    Thanks, jenn
    G5 Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

just read a bunch of posts about how updating to 1.2 on a PC might kill my iPod, so I guess I won't even try to update anything for a while.
thanks for the warnings, and oh well on the missed podcasts I guess.
PS- I did try putting the "bad" podcasts into a playlist but that playlist won't copy back to the iPod.

  • Update Folio format or publish again ?

    Hello,
I published a folio with PDF format.
It work fine on ipad but it does not on Android .
the folio is published and public... and some are saled ...
I need to change the format of the android version to PNG or JPG... that way i would update the folio and not unpublished it. cause i dont want the users to buy it twice .
But it seem to be impossible .
so... First : is it possible to update a folio and change the format from PDF to JPG ?
if it isnt : if i unpublish and delete the folio, then upload and pubish it again with the same product ID, users will have to buy it again ? or will they see the folio to download but for free ?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, you cannot edit the image format of the folio. Delete and re-create it. When you publish the folio, use the same Product ID you used in the deleted folio.

  • Updating address format of multiple cards

I've just realised (when trying to print some labels) that most of my addresses in Address Book are in US format, when I really need them in UK format. I've worked out how convert individual cards, but really want to update them all. (There are nearly 300 and I'd rather not have to do them one at a time!)
The global setting in preferences seems to have only changed the default for new entries.

Try this script - open it in Script Editor, read it (so that you know what you are about to do) and if happy press the run button. I would advise backing up the Address Book database first.
    AK
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "Address Book"
    repeat with APerson in people
    repeat with AnAddress in APerson
set country code of AnAddress to "uk"
    end repeat
    end repeat
    end tell</pre>

  • Update Kills Format Compatibility

This morning, Adobe Updater updated Premiere, After Effects, and Media Encoder.  Now when I open any of my Premiere projects, including one I was working on this morning, all MPEG files show up as offline.  When I try to Link Media, Replace Footage, or even reimport it, I get the error message "Unsupported format or damaged file."
This is bad, as a LOT of my footage is in mpeg format.

Well, for what it's worth, I've had this (or at least a similar) problem twice now, both immediately following the major updates to Premiere Pro.
I updated, restarted, launched my project and was met with some message about "trial version" and "unsupported" and "media," although I forget the exact statement. The gist of it was that something was wrong, and it seemed as though the prompt was telling me to purchase a full version. I mainly have DV footage, but every now and then, an MPEG variant file shows up in a project.
    Working on Vista Ultimate x64
At any rate, I didn't do anything special....I think I might have closed the application, and maybe restarted, or perhaps even done another update check. Whatever I did, something that broke during the update process re-connected once I did....erm, whatever I did.
So I know, not an incredibly helpful post here, but I wanted to further assert that 1) this problem seems almost entirely connected to the updating process, 2) it appears to be fixable without any reinstalling or cleaning or anything (because I did nothing of the sort), and 3) well, I don't have anything for 3, but only making 2 points seems a little short on an already (possibly) useless, uninformative post.
Hope this helps somebody (maybe even Adobe..............ahem..........)
PS - wanted to mention, my username on here used to be SCAPsinger (before the forum switchover), so that should help you all know what kind of dude you're dealing with here. Use that extra bit of information however it may suit you.

  • How do you update video format?

I downloaded several movies from itunes - tried to upload them to my ipod and error message came up stating could not be downloaded because my ipod does not support the video format, can i update my ipod? I have downloaded other movies with no problems.

    (From iTunes Help)
If you can’t sync a video
If iTunes tells you that a video wasn’t synced because it can’t be played on your device, you can convert it to a version that’s optimized for your device.
You can convert most videos to work with iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
       Convert a video
In iTunes, select the video you want to convert.
    Do one of the following:
Choose File > Create New Version > Create iPod or iPhone Version.
Choose File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version.
Converting a video can take several minutes to several hours, depending on your computer and the length and content of the video.
The original video remains in your iTunes library.

  • Acrobat 10.1.3 update file format issues

I have recently updated my Acrobat Pro to 10.1.3. I run a music notation software called Finale which I "Save as Adobe PDF" to create my pdfs and get them ready for publishing. This latest update seems to be having a problem holding onto my files. When I save as pdf, print, and go back to make changes in Finale, I rewrite a pdf over the file with the new changes in the document. "Save as Adobe PDF" is ignoring what I've changed and rewriting the same file. I have to quit Acrobat to get it to release its memory of the file. After I quit, no problems. If I leave Acrobat running, it is "using" the document. I can delete the file from my desktop, but if I try to empty the trash, it claims the file is in use (it's not open) until I quit Acrobat. Then the trash will allow it to be permanently deleted.
Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? I've dug around for hours in the user manual, the forums, and the preferences, trying to find some way to turn off this "feature". Whatever that may be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the message that is posted by Windows when it crashes?  That message might give you a hint as to what is root cause.

  • IOS 5.1.1 update wrecked my phone, can anybody please help?

    Hi there,
I plugged in my iPhone 4S into iTunes, and it tells me that there is an update (iOS 5.1.1)
I click update, it downloads the file and away it goes. I left the computer as this happened, it automatically went to install and when I came back there was an error message. Unfortunately, I don't remember what it said, but what has happened is that the USB cable and iTunes symbol shows on my screen whenever I turn it on (telling me to plug it into my PC). However, iTunes doesn't recognise my phone. Neither does my computer, although it plays the USB sound when I insert/eject my iPhone.
I called apple support and they were of no use, I've read several articles that involved uninstalling all apple programs and starting a fresh all to still be without a phone.
I am at my wits end and most definitely need my phone, so I hope that somebody can please help me resolve this issue as soon as possible!

I know that Apple doesn't read these, that was just a way of trying to say that I see on this and other forums that lots of people are having trouble.  Yes, I tried the restore and also the turning off firewall/anti-virus.  Didn't work.
I finally fixed the problem and learned a lot in the process, especially in talking to some of the guys at the Apple store near where I live.  So here are my recommendations to anyone with this problem:
(All this assumes you have a real iPhone/iPad and not a jailbroken one.  If you don't have a legit one, forget about fixing it.  Every software update is designed to cause problems for jailbroken phones).
First, if you haven't downloaded 5.1.1 yet, and want to avoid the problems, don't do it through iTunes on a Windows machine.  Apple pretty much knows that there are a large number of problems that can occur and they try to help you trouble shoot a lot of them.  But once your install through iTunes on a Windows machine is corrupted, you might have a lot of trouble getting things to work again.  You should download 5.1.1 because of the security upgrades.  If you can download it direclty on your iPhone/iPad that should work without a problem.  If you can connect to WiFi you should, especially if you don't have an unlimited data plan.  If you are on a metered data plan you should never download software updates through your phone connection, only though WiFI or on your iTunes.
By all means try the hard reset approach described above.  I did multiple times and it didn't work, but if it can work for you, do it.
Here is another way to do it.  If you have another computer available, download iTunes on that computer and connect the device to that computer.  Do a hard reset.  The other computer's iTunes will recognize the device as just an iphone/iPad.  Then wipe the iphone clean and do an install of the updated OS.  (This assumes that you have backed up your iPhone recently to your computer or iCloud. If you haven't or don't, you will lose a lot of your data, photos, etc.)   Wiping the device and installing the new OS will delete everything on your phone.  After this, then connect it back to your first computer, and iTunes should recognize it.  Then restore from your backup.
Of course, if you don't want to hassle with any of this just make an appointment at the nearest Apple store and they will fix it for free. They can wipe your phone and then you just restore from a backup.
What the original poster described is what happens when his phone enters "recovery mode."  This often becomes very hard to recover from on the same computer which caused the faulty install.
Also, if you do try to uninstall and reinstall itunes, make sure you do it exactly in the order described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923  If you don't it won't work.
    Good luck
