Update your Nokia 6350 -- got this email from Noki...

I received an email from [email protected] suggesting that I update the software on my 6350.  However, when I follow the enclosed link to software updater, it tells me that my phone (6350) is not supported.
I went to the Settings menu and found the entry to check for updates (configured to come from "Cingular").  It said that no updates were available.
My software version is listed a v4.96.  I also found a page that asked me to enter the device number and it would tell me the latest version; it listed the current version of 12-something.
Quite confusing.  Was this a general message that wasn't specific to my model?  Is there a difference between the general Nokia OS and that supported by AT&T (Cingular)?
Thanks.

Thought so. It's funny that's the 2nd strange email I've gotten today. The first one was from a Funeral home "EUBanks" it said I had a friend who died and they are holding the services and to view the full invitation by clicking here. I looked them up and it's a real place in Texas but at the bottom of their website they had a warning that these fraudulent emails are being sent out. Crazy day! Thanks for your help.

Why was this a waste of money?
The only thing this MS email indicates is a free Hotmail account can no longer be accessed with Outlook Express on a Windows PC beginning 6/30/08.
This has nothing to do with a paid or Hotmail Mail Plus account which is accessed as a POP account.
Worse case, you will no longer be able to use OE on your Windows PC to access your Hotmail account, but this will have no affect on accessing your Hotmail account with the iPhone's Mail client which is being accessed as a POP account.
I'd dump Microslop and use a Gmail account instead. You can access a Gmail account as an IMAP account with the email client used on your computer (including OE), and with the iPhone's Mail client - keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized automatically between all email clients used to access the account. Send a message with the iPhone, and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the email client used on your computer to access the account, and vice-versa. And it is free. You must pay MS for the privilege to access a Hotmail account as a POP account which is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.

I got this iphone from a guy and everytime i tried to update the applications stored in this phone it keeps asking me the password that the guy used to use, even thou i created a new apple ID of my own and updated the account of icloud and everything in this iphone with the new apple ID, it still asks me the password of the account that the guy used to use whenever i tried to update the applications, and i cant find the guy who gave me this iphone...wt should i do???

Apps are permanently tied to the AppleID that downloaded them and cannot be transferred to another.  Best thing to do is delete the apps and download those you want or need under your AppleID.

  • I just recently bought a macbook pro. I got an email from apple to update to OSX Lion but I accidentally deleted it. Is there anyway that email can be resent so I don't have to purchase OSX Lion?

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. After setting up my new laptop, I got an email from Apple about upgrading to OSX Lion. I wasn't sure what the email was so I accidentally deleted it. Afterwards, I was informed that I need this upgrade and I have no way of retrieving this email. Is there anyway another email can be sent out to me so I don't have to purchase OSX Lion through the App Store?

Visit http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate and follow the appropriate links. You will be asked what your serial number is and where you purchased your computer but you will get lion free of charge.

Thanks for your advice, I went to the apple shop today for a face to face meeting with a tech and he checked everything and could not figure out why I was having this problem so we decided to give up on that account and create a whole new one for me using a different email address.
Now I can download apps on both my iPhone and ipad2.
If anyone is reading this in Brisbane Australia go to the Chermside apple shop and ask for Wade. He was fantastic!

  • When I turned off Find my iPhone, Apple sent me an email saying: I got an email from Apple saying: your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone. I don't understand!

I just turned off Find my iPhone after hearing about the hacking in Australia.  I got an email from Apple saying:  your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone.  Does this mean that anyone can have access to my iPhone?  I still have to put my passcode in.

What that means is the activation lock does not operate if you did what you said you did. Bottom line, turn it back on. That will then require anyone trying to use the device to have yoru Apple ID and password.

There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email.  Apple does not operate that way.

I've contacted skype customer support and they said:
Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Support.
From your description, I understand that you are requesting information with certain emails that you have received if they are real.
Let me gather all the information you need.
Upon checking the e-mail addresses that you have provided, I assure you that these are NOT legit.
Please avoid any phishing emails and refrain from opening to avoid the compromise of you Skype account.
Phishing is the process whereby a malicious third party attempts to trick you into providing information that they shouldn't have.
For instance, someone could send an email pretending to be from Skype and request you to click on a link asking you to sign in and check your account.
This link directs you to a website that may look like Skype; however, it is controlled by a third party and when you enter your Skype Name and password, the third party may store this information and use it for malicious purposes.
    Hope this info helps

  • HT5622 I think my granddaughter bought a $3.99 app after I put the password in for a free app.  How can I find out what she purchased?  Can I get credit for it?  I just got an email from my credit card confirming the purchase.

I think my granddaughter bought a $3.99 app after I put the password in for a free app.  I just got an email from my credit card confirming the purchase.  How can I find out what she purchased?  Can I get credit for it?

The password is good for 15 minutes to make purchases. You should receive a receipt in 24 to 48 hours for the purchases. There is a link to Report an issue. You could use that to start a conversation with iTunes Support about a refund.
Apple considers all sales final. But has been known to offer a one time refund. So the question is, do you want to use your one time refund on this purchase or one more expensive in the future?

  • Got the email from Apple Aperture compatible with future versions of iOS?  (Mac OS?)

Got the email from Apple about Aperture this morning.  They had a huge omission:  are they going to keep Aperture compatible with future iOS? If not, I want, at a minimum, a refund for what I paid for the app.

They had a huge omission:  are they going to keep Aperture compatible with future iOS?
There will be no further development of Aperture. That much should be clear from the announcement, that Aperture will no longer be sold at the AppStore.  You are lucky - you used the last chance to buy the best photos app  ever Apple created. The new Photos is not intended to be  used by professional photographers like Aperture was. And you will be able to use and enjoy it as long as you keep a compatible operating system on your Mac.

2 summers ago, I was live-in caregiver for my Dad & Mom. I am watchin TV in the back room and before I know what's happening, my poor folks had given some gypsies $100 cash to 'clean' the outside  of their gutters! The hook those f****** used was elegantly simple. They had gone into HomeDepot, grabbed a handful of Behr Product brochures and were saying they were using this stuff to clean with at $60/gallon! Turns out the product was really $6 (SIX) /gallon!! They were just about to get a check for $600 from my Mom (had it written about to sign and hand it over) when I wandered out to the front and saw the commotion. I immediately put a stop to it. Papa Gypsy started to get in my face & fight before his kinsmen grabbed him and dragged him off as I was calling 911.
Moral... trust NO-ONE - in any form of media - no matter how slick the deal looks. My poor OLD folks still  don't realize what happened. They think *I* was the a******!
All your scammer had to do was parrot Applese, design with alot of white space, put real looking footers and such. The tell to me for sure was "Call Apple" with NO NUMBER (I didn't think you intentionally edited that out)
Glad you posted and I was able to help. Maybe Apple will sick their goons on 'em I'd have goons if I was rich and powerful wouldn't you?
