I have update my iphone 3gs to iOS 6 and when i went through activatin process i get error message " activation server temperoarly unavailable " the phone was working fine before the update to IOS6 . can any one plz..plz..plz... help wil b very greatful

There is no going back. Even if you restore to factory settings you will still have 6.1.3

Did you install modified software on your phone before you updated? If yes, this could be a reason for your phone acting that way.

it seems like apple's activation servers have gone down under the weight of the overwhelming amount of activation requests. you will be able to activate your phone once the servers are able to catch up with the activation requests.

To delete synced photos and videos from your device

I cannot activate the phone now after upgrading software

I have an old phone, 3GS that I no longer use and wanted to use for my kid.
I had to update Itunes so I did that.
When i connected the 3GS which is no longer being used as a phone (but it is unlocked for any provider was using Tmobile) it asked me to update the software before I could move over the apps I have purchased on Itunes to the device.
So I did so and then when it went to restart it made me go through the activation steps and just keeps saying that activation sever is temp unavailable??

You cannot activate the phone without the password of the previos owner. I am sorry for you, but there is no other way.

That's a critical failure. It can not be fixed. It is usually the result of jailbreaking or hacking the phone to unlock it.

If you are experiencing Activation Problems because your Device has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...

To expand on Rudegar's comment, often, updating a jailbroken or hacked phone will permanently brick the phone.
If your phone was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it, it is now most likely completely useless.

First, you do not have a 3G if you could upgrade it to 6.1.3, because 4.2.1 is the last version that will work on the 3G. So you either have a 3GS or you somehow hacked the phone to install an incompatible version. You can check the model you have by entering your serial number here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
Assuming you have a 3GS the most likely reason for your problem is you have a gray market phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it. When you upgraded it you removed the hack, so the phone is now locked to its original carrier.

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

Sounds like your iPhone was previously hacked/modified/jailbroken
and the update has relocked it to the original carrier. You will have
to contact that carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Only the wireless carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it.
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Where did you acquire this iPhone? What wireless carrier do you use?

There is nothing you can do. That is the Activation Lock that Apple has implemented tout down on theft of their iPhones.
Most likely the iPhone is stolen.
It is totally worthless to you.

Can someone please help. My IPhoneS stopped working right after I did the latest update which was yesterday. Now, the phone does not work at all. When turned on, the screen shows a picture of USB cable pointing to the ITunes logo. I have tried just about everything, and cannot get it working. It's like it is frozon. My ITunes does not recognize my device. Cannot dial out either. I desperately need to get it working. Can someone please help me.

The update did not do anything.
AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.
