Updated adobe flash player to 17 NPAPI , shows on adobe site that it is install on xp os, I have windows 7, no video or sounds will play while using FF

I updated flash player 17NPAPI 3/20 and now no audio or videos will play. Have gone through all of the help on Odobe site, which shows the install but also shows my operating system as XP but I have windows 7. The previous version was still showing up in my programs as adobe flash player 16 Active X so I deleted the new one and thought the old one would then work okay. But still no audio or videos play.
My windows media player is working fine, it just when I get on line with firefox that I am having this issue..
Thanks in advance for any help

The only other reason a useragent may display incorrectly is because it was overridden.

I just update my flash player but it is showing "blocked plugin" now when I try to play a video

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

That message is just a standard one issued, mainly for Windows users, you can disregard it if you didn't install any anti-virus. (OS X has one installed by Apple that doesn't interfere)
It's just some forms of anti-malware are really paranoid and lock the entire machine down. (like Norton)

  • Trying to instal adobe flash player & firefox says theres missing plugins but when I try to install them it says no suitable plugins found so I can't install AFP

I've been having problems with my internet timing out when I try to access pages & firefox says I may have an old version of adobe flash player which is unstable so I've been trying to install a new version. Firefox then says theres missing plugins but when I click on the install missing plugins button it says no suitable plugins were found so I don't know how to get it to install AFP
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== everytime I try to install Adobe Flash Player

Try this simple fix... I just got it to work...
First visit [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html] download and run the flash player uninstaller.
After that I simply ran the standalone flash player installer to be found here... [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe]
This fix doesn't solve the auto-update issue in Firefox, but at least your Flash will hopefully work again in Firefox until a more permanent fix is made available from Mozilla...

  • Latest Adobe Flash Player version is not compatible with our android tablet - can I install an earlier AFP version that will work?

    Hi...
    ...and thanks for reading this:
We have a Nextbook Premium8 tablet that is hardly two years old. We had to reset to original factory settings, and in doing so lost our Adobe Flash Payer app. Upon trying to re-install AFP, we received a message that our tablet wan not compatible with the latest AFP version.
Is there an earlier, archived AFP version that will work with our tablet, and if so, which version - Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.81) from Sept 10, 2013, possibly???
It seems almost unbelievable that our tablet should be this obsolete for use with Adobe Flash Player after such a short period of only two years.
    Thank you once again,
    Robert Lucas

It's not you, it's us.  We don't make Flash Player for Android anymore.
The last working version published for Android is missing a year and a half of security updates at this point, so I would highly recommend against running it.
The details on why Adobe dropped support for Android are here, but yeah, we haven't released an Android Flash Player since late 2012.
Adobe roadmap for the Flash runtimes | Adobe Developer Connection
There are a few alternatives that you can use to get Flash on your phone.  They're mostly cloud-based web browsers, where they run Flash in the cloud and stream the content down to your phone.  It works surprisingly well.
A cursory Google search for "Android Browser Flash Player" turns up these options:

  • When trying update Adobe Flash Player plug-in on FF 3.6, I get an unexpected install error, even after hitting "ALLOW".

I have a VOSTRO 1720 with 64 bit, with Windows 7 Ultimate. When I try to update Adobe or many other programs like LogMeIn, I get the same install error.

See [[unexpected installation error -203 when installing add-ons]].
An alternative method of installing Adobe Flash is to use the manual installers. For details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • On the same machine, Adobe Flash Player installs and operates satisfactorily in Internet Explorer but does not install at all in Firefox. What to do? I'd prefer using Firefox in lieu of Explorer.

The machine is running Windows 7, 32 bit. Downloaded Firefox today (Jun 7, 2011) so it should be the latest version. Same with Flash Player.

    Hi
Javascript no longer works in Internet ExplorerJavascript has nothing to do with Java.
The fact that I have no problems whatsoever in Firefox leads me to believe that the issue lies with IE.Sounds about right.
When I go to check if I have Java at http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml?ff3 I get a pop up log in box saying "the server java.com at SUN ONE web server requires a username and password" (when using IE - Firefox / Opera display the dancing duke symbol as they should)
It sounds like you are now talking about having Applets run in your browser. Before you talk to IE customer support, you should nail down what your problem actually is, JavaScript or Java Applets, they are different technologies belonging to different people and implemented very differently.
What's going on?You have a problem with Internet Explorer. Either ask their customer service or stop using it.

  • Can't watch shows on a site that requires me to enable ads, but I have no ad-blocker..

I have a VPN and I'm trying to watch my reg. shows on itv.com - they now require you to enable ads and disable/remove any ad-blockers you may have. Every time I try to watch my show now, I get the message stating I can't watch anything until it's disabled. The problem is, I don't have any ad-blockers on my computer/browser. I've searched, and there are none. I've tried enabling pop-ups, etc. for itv.com to no avail. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Is it something I can fix within the browser options (like it says I should be able to do)? Please help.

Are you allowing third party cookies? Many sites now split their content over multiple servers on different domains, so you may need to allow cookies for those servers in addition to the cookies for the main site. This article describes how to find that setting: [[Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them]].
It's also possible that a different extension, perhaps something related to privacy, is creating this issue. Could you try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.3 upgrade is essentially a computer virus...

Adobe Flash Player 10.3 upgrade is a worldwide disaster -- I am losing money every second because Flash screens now appears in the upper left-hand corner of the browser screen -- the user experience is ruined until Adobe finds the time to properly test a new upgrade release -- leave it to the "rookies" at Adobe to release a software upgrade that automatically loads, but then does not work -- Adobe Flash Player 10.3 is essentially a computer virus that is being installed globally...

FOR THOSE RUNNING IE9 ON WINDOWS 7 AND HAVE INSTALLED THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE FOR ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 10.3 - TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
Open IE9 Browser window > Click on "Tools" > Click on "Internet Options" > Selct the "Advanced" Tab > Turn on/Click the "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering" > Click "Apply" > Click "OK" > Shut down and then restart your IE9 browser.
THIS WILL BE A TEMPORARY FIX FOR ANY ISSUES YOU MAY HAVE WITH THE CONSTANT FLOOD OF FLASHING ADS AND THE LIKE UNTIL A PATCH IS MADE AVAILABLE FOR THIS UPDATE.
    OTHER QUICK FIXES WOULD INCLUDE:
    1) UN-INSTALLING 10.3 AND RE-DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING 10.2 FOR THE TIME BEING. **BESURE TO AVOID RE-INSTALLING THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE OF 10.3 AGAIN**
    2) DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING "MOZILLA FIREFOX" AND USING IT AS YOUR WEB BROWSER!!

  • Adobe Flash Player problems

Hi have installed latest version of Adobe Flash player but when i go to a site that ueses this app it says i need to down load latest version ?
    Can any one help me

That sounds like a reasonably new driver, although there is a newer one (8.15.10.2827) on the Intel download site.
Can you try if disabling Hardware Acceleration fixes the problem (see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/891337)?  Although there is a chance that the Settings panel may also display blank, in which case you will not be able to disable Hardware Acceleration.

Though, after about 5 attempts of installing, uninstalling and reinstalling again, I still can't watch videos on youtube, hulu and other related sites. I am running out of ideas here...any suggestions??
