I have updated account information online at apple/itunes. How do I change account info on the IPhone 4 itself so I can start downloading apps? Thanks
thank you but when I tap the apple ID , the only options are view apple ID, sign out or, cancel . Cannot get it to allow me to edit the account name

You could try deleting the app which is still installing. If it doens't work, hold power and home button together for more than 15 seconds to reset the phone. Once the phone is restarted, try deleting the app again. Hope this helps.

You cannot delete that icon. More than likely it's just been moved to another page. You can use Spotlight to search for it if necessary.

Hello , i m using I-phone4s. I m a new user. Bought a factory unlocked phone.
I created an Apple ID and using it on my phone. In the begening i was asked for ID password only when i Download a new App. (its still the same, when i try to download a new App from store , phone asks for the Apple Id Password. )
But since last few days i m facing a problem.( dont even know whether its a prob :-p )
I m being asked for my Apple Id Password again and again and again no matter i m downloading any App or not. When i unlock my keypad it asks me Apple Id Password, when i open any App it asks me Apple id pass, msg/safari/game anything it is always asking me for Apple Id password. Dont know what should i do. Plz somebody help me.

WWhenever I go on to the App Store and pick a free app and download it, it just starts loading for quite a long time then stops and whenever I go To settings<general<Software update, and I tap it it starts searching for one then it says unable to check for update an error has occurred then it stops! It will - until you purchase iOS 3.
Follow the link that stedman provided, and on that page, instead of choosing the link to iOS4, choose Purchase the iOS 3.1 Software Update directly from the iTunes Store. When you choose it, iTunes will open to the store and page for buying (purchasing) the update. It doesn't cost much (a few dollars although I cannot recall precisely) and it is the only way to update from you current iOS version. Once you do that, a further update to iOS 4.2.1 is free. That particular update may occur straight away, I don't know.
By the way, iOS 4.2.1 is as high as the 2nd generation Touch can go, but don't let that put you off. I have one and although I cannot install the BBC iPlayer (because it requires iOS 5) there are many Apps that work perfectly well with iOS 4.2.1.

I've just read the another discussion (to which you contributed), in which Illaass suggests that you may have a 1st generation Touch. If that is so, then your iPod will only be able to update to iOS 3.1.3. This will still need to be purchased, but be aware that many Apps require iOS 4 or higher, so your options would be more limited. So follow the link Illaass provided to confirm which model you have.

turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them

iTunes purchases cannot be transferred between accounts. If you no longer wish to use the old account at all, you should delete those apps and repurchase them with the new account.
