Updated avatar with a .gif file- 305kb... animation?

I just (or I think I have) updated my avatar with a .gif file that is 305kb. Size: 215x215. It has animation, but the animation is not showing. The FAQ section states for avatar pics:
Why am I receiving an error while setting my avatar?
You might receive an error while setting your avatar because of the following reasons:
The size of the image being uploaded is greater than 1 MB.
Select an image that is smaller than 1 MB in size. If your image is not in the jpg format and around 220x220 in pixel size, use your favorite image editor to create the image and then try uploading again.
The file is not in the preferred file format (i.e. is not in the GIF, JPG or PNG file format).
Convert the image you wish to upload into a GIF, JPG or PNG file and then try uploading again.
Any help you can give is appreciated.

"I just (or I think I have) updated my avatar with a .gif file..."
Just to make it more clear... The reason I said that 'I think' I updated my avatar, is because the animated GIF file uploaded starts out exactly like my given avatar picture. So in looking at it, I don't know which one it is. All I know is that it's
not animating... Tried IE, Firefox and Chrome... no animation is seen in the posts the last time I checked.

  • Can't send animated .gif files

Hi - hope you can help. I have tried everything! I receive wonderful moving animations via email but when I go to forward them either to myself (to check) or to others, they are received as still pics, e.g. someone sent me a picture of a guy throwing a snow ball at the screen (quite impressive) via email. I forwarded it to others but it's just a picture of a guy holding a non moving snow ball. There must be something wrong with my .gif file - Can you help?? Thanks

Unfortunately 10.3's version of Mail does not handle sending out HTML, which is necessary for animated gifs. This is a weakness of this version of Mail because it can receive stuff in HTML, just not send it.
10.4 Tiger's Mail can set things in HTML, so you can add hotlinks and animated gifs to the email, but alas not with Panther's version, so for us it just appears as a still image in our emails. You would need to buy Tiger to get this facility.
Perhaps you could afford it with some of those mining royalties over there in WA

  • Can I update with a CAB file after I installed BizTalk ?

Can I update my base configuration of BizTalk with a cab file after everthing is installed and configured ?
I missed installing it while I was installing BizTalk for the first time, now I want to update it with a CAB file. Is that possible ?

    Hi,
BizTalk Server relies on different products and technologies to provide essential services and features. CAB file contains softwares that are required by BizTalk server to
    successfully install on your computer.
You can select the cab file based on the edition and server you working with. Link below:
    Redistributable CAB Files
Now coming to your question, as I have mentioned above the CAB file contains the
    prerequisites
required for successful installation of BizTalk. While installing BizTalk on Redistributable
    prerequisites
screen you must have either manually or automatically installed the CAB file already.
If you have already successfully installed and configured BizTalk, I dont see any issue with the CAB file.
I don't buy that 90% consumption of the CPU is due to bad or wrong CAB file selected while installing BizTalk.
I would advise you to go through the below link:

  • How can i show gif files through reports

I have blob column in a table and i store text with some gif files there ...i made a report for that and i set the property of blob item like ..file format as "text" and containes html tags "yes" then i generate the report on html but when i see the on html i can see only text not any picture like .gif file ..
if any body have the solutuion to show .gif files with text then tell me ...
    Thanx..

    hello,
you say, you store text with gif images in a blob. the question would be, in what format. if you store HTML text there, the images are actually not stored in the document but only references to them. you might then check the src attributes of your IMG tags if they point to valid destinations.

  • Need a way to request for a web resource (e.g .css, .gif file) using jpdk

I am wondering if there is any way by which we can request for a web resource from portal to portlet provider.
Currently if in order to display image I need to make direct request to portlet provider rather than routing the request through portal. As a result of this there is no session affiliation.
My web resource can also be .jsp or .html file
    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Hi Hernando,
It seems I haven't put my question correctly, probably following might help me explain you what I require:
Portlets are added to portal page. Portlet content is served by portlet provider. So when you are viewing a portal page containing portlets in reality portal requests the portlet data from portlet-provider. So the actual request flow is: Request for a portal page, portal analyzes portlets on the page, and then request the portlet provider for the content associated with portlet. In the exact reversal process data flow is: portlet-provider generates the content which is passed to portal & then portal forwards it to end user.
Now want something similar to happen with images (.gif files). But the problem is I am failing to create a link for this resource. I want the request for image to flow through portal very much the same way as its doing for the content. In other words I want to create a link which would inform portal to request for the resource to portlet provider. In this scenario portlet provider would pass the image to portal which would be forwarded to end user. Currently to get the images I am making direct request to portlet provider there by bypassing the request to flow through portal, which I do not want. Above all this resource can be anything a css file or a image or a .js file.
So can you suggest me how to achieve it?

  • GIF file import

A have a problem correctly interpreting GIF file characters from an instrument. Any ideas on correctly interpreting a GIF file from an instrument. I'm stuck with the format, its what the instrument supports.
It appears that MS Windows platform, labview text control interpretation of GIF characters, like \s, \0, \FF, is different from the Agilent E4404B Spec An. I have no problem fetching the file, but characters are being changed (interpreted) whenever I use a labview text box (i.e. an ascii string control, I really need a character control, or some work around).
Attached is a good GIF from the instrument and the bad imported GIF.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.
    Attachments:
    bad.GIF ‏16 KB
    00191RMT.GIF ‏16 KB

Unless I am missing something here, the issue is not with the GIF files per se.  What is happening is that somewhere along the lines the file is being interpreted as text and the nulls (x00) are being replaced with spaces (x20).  You can recreate this by taking the good GIF file, changing the extension to .txt, opening in Notepad, saving, then renaming back to GIF.  You will see that it is no longer a valid GIF and if you examine the file in LV or a hex editor you will see all of the spaces.
LV does not do this, it may cause trouble if you read a binary file as txt with the convert EOL option selected, but that is about it.  Something happens to the file along the way from the instrument to LV.  That is why I am curious to know how he fetches the file from the analyzer and gets it into LV.

  • Text messages with animated .gif files attachment

I recieved a text the other day with an animated gif file attached. I believe it was sent as a zip file. Anyway I tried to open it and all I got was a gray screen with an icon . No animation.. The second one I recieved was from a buddy. I watched and listened to it on his Droid 1. I had him send it to my phone text came through fine when I went to load and play the gif file it .had sound but no animation, just the gray screen again. I know the attachment is a zip file as I sent it to my email and opened it on my computer. Any thoughts maybe there's a setting I'm not finding? I'm using whatver text mesage program thats standard on the DX.
    Thanks
    MTY55.

Sounds like the issue you are having is that the files are zipped, MMS should be zipped because it has to access the files to display it.. I send and recieve anifated gif files and they play fine but also keep in mind that for some reason the stock email client does not play all files at same time, if there is a audio and photo, it will play audio and then the photo..

  • I had made ppt with gif files.however the animations are now working when in keynote. Can u help?

I had made a PowerPoint presentation and have lots of gif file with animations. But when I opened it with keynote, the gif files don't seem to work. Please help

The inspectors on your iPad are there but disguised - the 4 icons on the upper right are Styles (brush) - that allows you to modify attributes of a selected object such as color, font, position, etc., it is contextual so will vary depending on the object selected; Insertion ("+") - this allow you to insert shapes, tables, charts and media (images and movies located in the Photos library); Tools (wrench) - this menu allow access to transition & builds, sharing and printing, a find feature, your presenter notes, some advance settings, and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - the HELP File where you can learn how to use your Keynote application.
The Help file and the Getting Started presentation are the best way to learn how your Keynote works.
    Good Luck,

how can i view .gif files on iphone with animations

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can't see by default hidden files through Finder. However, you can do it with a command that you can copy in Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities). Open this application and type:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE && killall Finder
After doing it, you will be able to see hidden files through Finder in all the volumes connected to the MacBook Pro

  • How to edit a Animated Gif file and convert to SWF

I am using the creative cloud with fireworks. I chose the free trial with buying in mind if I saw it work properly. I simply want to upload an animated GIF file and then download it as a SWF file. I saw someone on youtube do this and it's not that if I get on the correct page I would not know how to do that but I just cannot find how to get the GIF into the software to edit. It has just simply put them in the creative cloud folder which can open them on IE> How do i make it available to edit and convert to SWF please? Thanks in advance.

  • Animated .gif files

I have been using an older version of Photoshop Elements for a long time but just got a new MacPro and decided it's time to upgrade my PSE.  But maybe not....I downloaded the Photoshop Elements Trial version to check out if it's really worth upgrading or not and I think I'm in trouble. I have a ton of animated .gif files and they do not appear to open in the familiar "layers".  i read through some of these discussion threads and I think you're saying that if I use the current version of Photoshop Elements I will not be able to edit my old .gif files.  I did try making new layered files and save them for the web with animation and that seemed to work.  But if I'm going to lose the ability to edit my old .gif files I'm not sure I want to upgrade.
Can someone clarify this for me please.  Maybe it's just a matter of switching from Elements to CS4, but I thought from the descriptions of the programs as provided in the Products section that I fit more with the Elements program.....maybe not????
And this does not even consider that I haven't tried to load my older version on the new intel machine yet, it may not even run if I try that.
I do, for about 20% of my computing time use "that other" platform, but I don't like it, I much prefer my wonderful Mac machines.
    thanks for your help
    Leigh

Thank you for your offer, I do appreciae it.  But I think the better question to ask at this point is :  What is the last version of Photoshop Elements that supports editing animated gif files.  This is too important to me to lose this ability and after checking further I see CS4 is out of my price and needed features range. I would rather hang on to my old laptop to manipulate photos than lose the ability to edit my .gif files.
Can anybody help with this question?

  • Animated Gif files in Captivate

I have created an animated GIF file in Photoshop that i want to use in my captivate file.
The file wont preview in any of the preview modes other than the HTML5 output preview. All other previews just show the first frame of the GIF file.
If i chose to SWAP the animation with another GIF from the library the preview shows the animation playing.. see attached
Is there something im doing wrong here.
I guess i could upload my final file to the LMS with HTML5 output as this preview shows the animation but i also read there are limitations with this output as some transitions / effects dont work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
Yes, you can verify whether your GIF would fucntion correctly on HTML5 platform by Window--HTML5 Tracker Pod.
I am not an expert on Photoshop, but still would like to make a recommendation.
Set the 'delay' value for each of your Frame to 0.01 or some value if it shows as 0, this can be done using the animation frame Window. Save it as GIF again for Web Devices and import in Captivate, see, if you are abale to preview this time.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai
