Updated Camera Raw CS4 Plugin (no plugin folder??)
I am trying to install the updated SC4 Camera Raw Plugin but I can't find the Plugin folder referred to in the following directions:
5. Navigate to:(Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats
6. Copy the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
7. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
What can I do about this? Is there somewhere else I can stick the Plugin so that it works?
What OS? And no, there is no other place to put the Camera Raw plug-in. Note, the Library in this case is the root Library, not the User level Library.

generic instructions
Windows
1. Right click on the downloaded Camera_Raw_5_7_updater.zip
Click on Extract All
2. In the Extract All dialog check Show extracted files when complete, then click on Extract
3. When the next window opens showing the extracted files, right click on the Setup.exe and click on Run as Administrator.
In the User Account Control dialog click Yes
Just follow the directions in the install dialog when it opens
Mac
1. Double click on the downloaded Camera_Raw_5_updater.dmg to mount the dmg image
2. When the next window opens, double click on the Setup.app
In the next window enter your password
Just follow the instructions in the install dialog that appears

Is there an update to Camera Raw (CS4!) for the Canon EOS Rebel T3i?
Or, is there an equivelant method for opening CR2 files in PS CS4?
Can I update to Camera Raw 6.4.1 (which is when it started support for the Canon Rebel T3i) with CS4?Once a new verson of PS comes out camera raw is not updated, and the old version is not suppported.
Also, you have to stay with the ACR for each version, which is one number higher than the PS version. So for CS4 you have to stay with ACR 5.x
You options are to upgrade to current version so you can use ACR 7.x or download the free current DNG converter. Currently the DNG converter is 7.1 which is the same as ACR 7.1. -

You need to buy PSE13. But you can continue with PSE9 if you download and install the free DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will work with yoir existing software(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Just updated camera raw to 6.6 in photoshop 5 won't open raw files
Just updated camera raw in photoshop 5 to 6.6 on a mac pro running 10.6.8 os wont open a raw file and program freezes and must force quit to close. Lightroom update has problems as well. Don't recommend updating to either

Photoshop is configured to open Raw, JPG & Tiff.
Raw files in CR2 format from my Canon EOS 5D MarkII
Applied the Camera Raw 6.6 update last night. There were no problems noted during the update. Did not realize until later that the files would not open any more - I was working with PSD files created several days before. I forwarded several crash reports to Apple after I force closed Photoshop several times. When I opened one of the three files Photoshop would not exactly freeze but the whole system became slow - the force-close menu took a while to display after I right-clicked the icon in the dock. If I dragged and dropped one of the three into the dock icon, Photoshop would open with usual audible disk sounds but the sounds stopped quickly and the program was frozen.
I recovered using suggestions from the forum, used Time Machine to return Photoshop, Bridge and the Adobe folder in the path /Library/Application Support/Adobe/ to the state before the update. The Camera Raw Plug-in is now at 6.5 and I can open RAW files again.

When I try to update Camera Raw 5.4 for CS4 I get stuck by the message "Please close Adobe Bridge." Adobe Bridge isn't open. What to do?
Look in Task Manager > Processes – you'll probably find it there if you have it on auto.
Kill the process. -

I spent over three hours on the phone with Adobe's technician, and the problem is unresolved.
We un-installed CS5 Photoshop and reinstalled it as a "new user." Install stopped midway to say there was an ISP problem. We chose the option “install anyway." This message was the same on the initial CS5 installation. I upgraded from CS4. Never a problem with CS4.
Turned off all antivirus and firewall software.
Could not find other Photoshop applications running while watching the Task Mgr.Processes.
We manually download the updates and also let Photoshop Updater download them.
Photoshop starts and runs fine, but will not update Camera Raw and/or Bridge.
Error message: "another version of Updater is running. Try again later."

Updated Camera Raw File for CS2 / Canon Powershot G10
I am still using Photoshop CS2, but unfortunately I need the updated Camera Raw file (v5.6) for use with the Canon Powershot G10, and it appears the unless I upgrade to CS4 I won't be able to view any RAW files shot with this camera.
Is there an updated Camera Raw version for the Powershot G10 that is still supported under CS2?

ACR 5.4 was released last night and it requires CS4. That is the latest and current version of Camera Raw.
5.6 probably won't appear until next year.
If you download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.4, you can convert the raw files from your camera to raw DNG files you can then open in ACR 3.7 hosted by CS2. -
When you update Camera Raw do you need to update DNG converter too?
I have Photoshop CS4 and wanted to update Camera Raw. I have forgoten if you need to update the DNG converter too or just leave it. Im also looking for tutorials or " how to use" stuff for the new features the lastest versions of Camera Raw (5.5 and 5.6). Thank you.

If your camera is already supported by ACR, you don't really need the DNG converter. If you prefer to convert to DNGs or your camera is not supported, then you probably should download the latest version of the converter.

Is the Camera Raw plug in still available for CS4?
Yes.
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
However, CS4 is only compatible with Camera Raw from versions 5.0 to 5.7.
Adobe updates Camera Raw for each and every new camera which enters the market since they all have unique and proprietary Raw file formats. So Camera Raw is updated a lot.
If you have a newer camera then it will require a recent version of Camera Raw which won't be compatible with CS4.

I'm using the latest photoshop cc 2014 with most updated camera raw... i am having A LOT/REPEATED trouble getting files to "synch" with corrections, no matter what i options i select (i.e. "everything")... WTH is wrong with me/my computer/adobe?! help. fast. please

Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 (Win7 64-bit). It says, the model not supported by Camera Raw. Tried updating Camera Raw plug-ins for d800 but keep getting error message: Update failed, Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Re-install the latest application manager but still the same error message. How to fix?

I have moved my Photoshop CS5 to my traveling computer,a Surface Pro 3. I went out and tried to download the newest raw version and even went out and did a zipfile download and it will not update my current version. What should I do

The D600 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and later - not CS5 unfortunately.

I bought the hard drive recorder with the V1U HDV Sony camera. The files called M2T's i think are not supported by FCP. Do you know if they are in the FCP 6? Or if the 24pA setting still has to go through a CinemaTools reverse telecine to be seen.
