Updated Firefox causing problems

On my taskbar (i have Windows 7) when i click on my firefox button it opens another box and the original firefox button shows its inactive. so i end up with 2 firefox buttons. this started happening after i updated to firefox 7. if i could get the most recent version of 6 that might fix it, and this is a small problem but its very annoying.
here is a screenshot of the problem to help it more
http://tinypic.com/r/ev985l/7
My original firefox button is all the way on the left
and when i click on it more appear like on the right
this used to not happen

Un-pin all icons of Firefox from the taskbar. Open Firefox from the start menu or another shortcut. Now pin the running window to the taskbar. This should solve your problem.

Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

  • Your current updates are causing problems and will not install correctly how do we stop it

the security update you currently have causes problems with other software and does not install at all. Current corrections the entire pc has to be set back to a restore date to remove it

    Hi;
I apologize about your not being able to reply to my response in the Payments sub-forum, thanks for re-posting here.
I forwarded your issue to a Support team that will take care of it.  If you could send me a good contact phone # via email to [email protected] I will give that to the Support team so they have a few ways to contact you.  Please also include the AdobeID for both accounts so they know what all to look at.

  • Firefox causing problems with web pages and Yahoo

Firefox has been causing problems with:
    Yahoo: no matter how many times I reset the font size, it is always much bigger. Also the "From" box (where my name and email address appear) has shrunk;
This does not happen in Chrome
A particular website has suddenly stopped working: http://explore.org/#!/live-cams/player/kitten-rescue-cam
Instead of seeing what is going on on the live cam, all I get is a green screen.
This does not happen in Chrome.
I have followed all the instructions:
    - Reset Firefox
    - Disabled and re-enabled add-ons
And yet this has solved nothing. Iam now having to run both Firefox and Chrome at the same time. This is highly frustrating. I like Firefox better than Chrome but problems are mounting up and I do need help.
Has any one got some idea what is going on?
    Many thanks...
    Anna

    Hi
Thank you for your input. I did try Font size, reset, zoom... the lot and nopes it did nothing. As I said the problem is in Firefox, not in Chrome.
I also checked the plug-ins issue and it seems they are in order and up to date.
Now this morning, the website has been working again in Firefox (was working ok in Chrome).
Overall Firefox's performance with some websites is poor. My health report confirms the number of times it crushes (many times a day, which is highly frustrating). I am keen to keep Firefox as it is so mcuh nicer in many ways than Chrome but it's performance is an issue for me... sigh...

  • Adobe PS Element 2 auto-update 2nite causing problems - suggestions please

I understand that this is really an issue I should post on the Adobe forum [on their web-page] since it is their product that is causing this problem, and I will as a last resort if need be.
In a nutshell, I'll be brief with my problem.
-I'm using PS Elements version 2.0.2 (which I did purchase)
    -Program worked super until tonight
-tonight when I opened it [to play around with a photo], it attempted to, what I think, attempted to auto-update itself via the internet
    - I'm on DSL but gave it plenty of time to auto-update 2 files
    - visually, screen gave me a bar indicating time remaining for update to finish, however, even when bar indicator is completely full the auto-update won't proceed further [just hangs there with a full bar]
    - forced quit. rebooted. opened again. Elements again goes through same routine and sticks at a full indicator bar and I can't proceed.
Brief technical info. on what PS Elements tells me it is installing
    - AWEX Files.txt to Mac HD: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Web:
Conclusion: I could care less if it updates itself, I just want it to work again. If I need to delete files in folders I'll do it - whatever it takes, please help.

Geez, I thought Adobe finally fixed that bug. You might try unplugging your computer from the Internet and then try launching Elements. Without a connection it ought to just shrug its virtual shoulders and then launch without the stupid, and to you completely pointless, web crud update. There is not now, nor will there ever be again, any updates to Elements 2 of any interest to the actual user. If does indeed launch without the Internet connection, you can then go to Elements->Prefences and at the bottom of menu select Adobe Online... and then set the "Check for updates" to Never. Click OK and your problem should be solved.

  • Opening a pdf in firefox causes problems in other opened tabs

When I open a pdf on firefox, if I switch tabs, i.e. to any other website, and try to scroll down with the mousewheel it won't work, only the pdf file scrolls down, even if I'm not working on that tab. This happened to me with an old laptop (XP), now I have a new one (W7), and I have the same problem, so I guess is not a computer problem.
Also, at work the pdf files work properly.

Starting in Chrome 42, NPAPI plugins like Adobe Reader will no longer work nor be shown in the chrome://plugins page.
    http://www.chromium.org/developers/npapi-deprecation
The Chromium team has decided to remove support for NPAPI plugins like Adobe Reader. Here's a blog post that describes their decision - http://blog.chromium.org/2014/11/the-final-countdown-for-npapi.html
To view PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, we recommend that you download the file in Chrome and open it from your desktop.

  • PrinterSpooler service (update?) causes problems

    Just to inform you.
I have a Delphi application running on a number of systems; the application accesses files on another system - quite heavily since it contains a propriaty database system - and contains it's own authentication and authorization methods - not linked to Windows
    in any way.
There are any customers running the same application in a similar environment - without a problem. Except for one, that encountered a weird problem since halway October 2013 - using the same credentials to start the application (not recommended but that's
    the way they work).
Assume two Windows users: A (added before mid October) and B (added after mid October). Both can start the application. Where user A has no problems at all, user B encounters a complete hang of the application at some point, and is unable to stop the application
in a normal fashion. No message at all, just that the application does no longer response. No 'hidden' screens that require a response...
If User A switches to User B (Start->logoff -> Switch User) he can still use the application. If user B switches to user A the same way, he cannot: it seems something within Windows that is loaded or initiated on first login, is still active. even
    after SwitchUser.
The system administrator has done some investigation and found that when he removed the PrinterSpool service, the problem was gone. The service was installed on Ocober 9th.
(I am not the administartor, nor do I have insight in the Windows internals; and I have no access to the customer's environment for control (though I did have the ability to do some checking), so I cannot give more information on the issue. However. my concern
is the reliability and security of the system, which (IMHO) is compromised with these types of problems)

    Hi,
Before going further, we should confirm the current issue first. Please let me know if the two users logon to two different machines when using the application. If only one machine has this
problem, I suspect that the cause of the issue is the machine itself. In addition, please also let me know if the PrinterSpool service is running on the normal machine. Have you checked if there is any error logged in event logs on the problematic machine?
Here is an article as reference, hope it helps.

  • Pages update causes problems?

Since April's update I have had problems with Pages. Templates keep opening with the 'cannot find font' message even though the font is activated. Since I use Font Explorer to manage fonts I tried moving the fonts into the system folder/font folder. Pages still could not find them. After deleting Pages and Keynote and reinstalling them from my CD all is happy again.
My impression is that the update caused the problems. Anybody else experiencing this?
    Kurt

    Hullo Kurt:
Glad you got it sorted. Didn't think it would help you much without further insight - but I had no trouble with the update either. One of those things you had to persevere with on the system you know to fix.
I recall that when I first installed OsX, there was a font collection called "Classic." It was not of fonts the designers call "classic", so I assume it was carried over from Os9, even though I hadn't installed that.
You can collate whatever collections you want from Pages, as you know: just so long as they go into the User or System Library fonts. I don't know how it is with Font Explorer, but with Font Book I find the safest way of resolving duplicates so they don't keep reappearing is to "resolve duplicates" first for any black-dotted fonts, then scan for the greyed out versions where they appear. These can be safely "removed" via Font Book.
This way Pages can choose which copy of a font it doesn't need.
BTW I've just updated to OsX 10.4.7. Can't put it on my profile yet. But it reproduces type throughout the system, and especially in Pages, even more snappily than before, and is said to improve Font Book's handling - as well as some PDF problems.
Be interesting to see whether those are the ones that members have had trouble with. MacFixit suggests that this system update can cause problems with various duplicate files, but I started with a clean computer, left it alone for the update, and did a Safe Boot to see what that cleaned out before I bothered with all that, and then I found no need for it. Routine maintenance did turn up quite a few permissions to be repaired though.
OTOH, if the system details on your profile are right, you might do better to look for a combo update on Mac Downloads to be sure you get it all stitched.
    Cheers.
Mac OsX 10.4.7, never mind what it says under here.

  • I can't download updates for Firefox (which is causing problems,) because Bitdefender 2011 says it's toolbar is incompatible or something. :( Any suggestions?

I'm having trouble with internet speed/crashing/"timing out"/etc., and keep getting reminders to update Firefox, but every time I try to update it, it goes through the motions, and then Bitdefender 2011 gives me a message saying that Firefox's toolbar is incompatible or something, and so it wasn't installed. :(
Is anyone else having this problem, and, if so, is there a way to update Firefox WITHOUT taking virus protection off of my computer, or having to change to Explorer or Safari?
My ISP told me that I should update my DSL box and router to THEIR newest version (at CenturyLink,) and use Explorer, and that would take care of the problem. :(
I'm not sure about the DSL box and Netgear WIFI's connection to Explorer vs. Firefox, but I have always heard that Explorer had a higher virus rate than Firefox or Safari, so...really don't WANT to switch if I can possibly FIX the constant problems. :(
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thank you!
    -Angie-

I am connected to the internet via a wireless network set up in my home. There are two other PCs connected to the network, one a desktop and the other a laptop. Neither have had any problems using or connecting to the internet. I have a DSL connection. I have tried to directly connect with the router with an ethernet cable, but the same thing happens.

  • After an automatic update, Firefox will start but immediately terminate. How can I fix this problem? I am sick and tired of manually un-installing Firefox!!

Since Firefox version 12, after Firefox automatically applies an update, Firefox will launch and immediately terminate.
The only solution is to manually un-install Firefox, completely clean the registry of Firefox entries, and manually re-install a previous version of Fiirefox that will work -- I use version 4.0. And then manually update that version to the current version.
I DO NOT install the new automatic update option -- that is, the automatic maintenance option.
BUT never the less, EVERY TIME I check for the latest version of Firefox using HELP --> About
Firefox, the UPDATE is AUTOMATICALLY RUN and FIREFOX WILL NOT WORK AGAIN.
I have put with this none sense for 18 versions of Firefox - MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!
    Thanks, David Breed

You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
Can you bring up the Profile Manager to create a new profile (possibly when starting in Safe Mode by holding down Shift)?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • Since I updated Firefox I have to constantly re log-in to my Yahoo account such as email. Every time I leave the page I have to log-in to get back into it. I also run OPERA and I do not have that problem with them. I stay logged in. Any suggestions?

I have windows Vista and have the updated version of Firefox. I also can run OPERA and LUNASCAPE with no problems. When running Firefox I have to constant re log-in to my Yahoo account every time I leave the page. For example: I log in to check my email on Yahoo and then leave my email page. Then when I return to recheck my email I have to log in all over again. I can't stay logged in. If I run my OPERA browser I stay logged in for days without having to sign in all over again.

  • If I install the update to Adobe Reader 10, will that cause problems with Acrobat Pro 9?

Firefox (version 15.0.1) is telling me I need to install an update to Adobe Acrobat 9.4 in order to view pdf files in my browser. I use Acrobat Pro 9. The update is actually Adobe Reader 10, and I am wondering if I install this, will it cause problems with my version of Acrobat Pro?
Because I am not sure if this is so, I have temporarily disabled the plug-in and now pdf files download automatically rather than display in my browser. I would prefer they open in my browser but do not want to upgrade to Acrobat X.
