Updated Firmware Now Scrolling Problem

I upgraded the firmware yesterday to the latest version. Now whenever I'm scrolling slowly through calendar or email or something similar my scrolling "sticks" near the top of the screen about a half inch down from the top of the screen. It's like the phone loses tracking of my finger in one spot and then regains its position and continues scrolling. Anyone else experience this? It's really annoying, terrible glitch. Any ideas?

What do yo mean by too full?
Did you update via iTunes? Via Settings>General>Software Update?
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.

  • UPDATED FIRMWARE = NOW MACBOOK SHUT DOWNS!

About two days ago Software Update told me to update my Macbook's firmware. I did it, and since then my Macbook is having the problem of the random shutdowns. It DID NOT had the problem before, never. So the firmware has added this problem to my computer!!!
Last night I was listening to iTunes and the music stopped suddenly. I looked at the computer and it had shutdown itself. I restarted and opened iTunes again, and some minutes later it shutdown again. It happened many times.
Today I read in the formus that an easy way to recreate a shutdown is to open two Terminal windows and run the "yes" command in both. I did it, and guess what... Shutdown.
So my computer now is not working properly, and it was perfect before.
    Has anybody experienced this issue?

If that happens, Apple will either have to fix or
    replace the MacBook, yes?
Correct. I called Customer Relations yesterday and tried to get it replaced. They said I have to let them try and fix it first and they would go from there. They were real nice and assured me that they will get it working right or replace it if they have to.
    It would seem that any
computer that is built--or updated--to have the fans
run constantly to keep it cool enough to function has
a serious flaw. Constantly running fans will wear out
sooner than ones that run intermittently, right?
Depends upon the fan. Some will last for thousands of hours. Hard drives will last 500,000 hours now.
Bottom line is something big is going to have to be
replaced, and it's because of the way certain
machines were built. That's why Applecare is a good
deal. If mine goes down due to the way it was built,
I'm entitled to a new one that better be better
    built.
Here's the problem. Newer processors are running hotter causing cooling hurtles, and Apple doesn't have enough time to test these MacBook long-term. Unfortunately, we are the beta testers.
Another case in point: Look at the liquid-cooled Power Mac G5s. They were delayed three months because of coolant leaks in the prototypes. Now, units that been out in the field a year or two are starting to leak. Who knows how many will leak down the road.

  • Update firmware now TC has steady amber light + not seen in airport utility

Earlier this evening my imac flashed up the firmware update for my time capsule (500GB) which i just did without thinking twice.
Firmware downloaded and TC restarted but now only has steady amber light.
I launched airport utility but my tc is not recognised.
Tried soft and hard reset but still only getting steady amber light.
Dragged the ethernet cable out and round to the imac to be able to post this.
    Any suggestions ?
    Cheers

Try a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule as follows:
Power the TC down and leave it off for 25-30 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in while you plug the power back in to the TC
Keep holding the reset button in until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly and hold another few seconds when you see this and then release
Open AirPort Utility to see if you can reconfigure your Time Capsule and apply any updates that are available.

  • Updated firmware, now blank CDs are immediately ejected when inserted

This morning I updated the firmware on my boss's MacBook Pro. Afterwards when I inserted a blank CD to burn, it accepted it, spun it around (nothing popped up on the desktop) and spit it back out. I tried multiple cds (including opening a new package of cds to try) and restarted the computer. Any ideas? Also, if I was to bring this to an Apple Store, what sort of charge would there be? Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
One thing to try if you haven't already is to use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Sometimes these get messed up and cause problems.
You can make an appointment at the genius bar and talk to someone for free. If the MBP is not under warranty and the genius suspects a hardware problem, there would probably be a fee to diagnose the problem, and you would be told in advance what it might be. If the MBP is under warranty, then there would be no charge for either the diagnosis or the repair.
Be sure and make an appointment at the genius bar, as they can be very busy and it can be hard to get in otherwise. Bring a variety of CD's to try--different brands if you can. There's a good chance that the genius will know what's wrong and how to fix it and it won't cost you anything.
    Good luck!

  • Updated Ipod now password problems

can anyone help me with this problem?
I recently installed update Itunes 4.0 on my sons ipod with no problems but now it wont accept my Itunes password!
The same password is fine on the other 2 devices I have linked to Itunes - its only the one I updated.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Updated Firmware - Now Fan is Running More

But with no noticeble difference on the temperature. Before my fans would kick on when needed, cool it down, and retreat back to the 1500rpm minimum. Now since the firmware update I havent seen them drop back to 1500, lowest its been is near 1600, with it ranging in average from 1600-2600. This is with pretty minimal processing going on, some web browsing, a nonintensive program or two....anyway, anyone have a similar experience??

    yes I am.
The fans have been running full blast all the time since I did the update.
It's really annoying when I am in a quiet room so I just play music to block out the noise coming from the fan.
Is there anyway that I can make the fans stop or slow down?
I have reset the PMU but still no luck.

  • Updated firmware, now Aperture/FCPX won't work

I updated the firmware on my 27in mid 2011 iMac today. When I restarted the computer and tried to launch Aperture 3 I recieved this error message.
I checked my library permissions but everything was in order. I even uninstalled and reinstalled/updated Aperture 3. I then opened up Final Cut Pro X and saw that all of my libraries that are hosted on my external Gdrive were not being seen by the program. My aperture library is located on the same external drive.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

Restarted twice, unplugged the external drives, re-attached them and everything is working now.

  • [WRT45G] Can't update firmware and other problems

Nevermind. I'm buying a different brand since rather than getting any help, I get my post censored because I mentioned that I've had problems with other Linksys routers.
Thanks for nothing Linksys.Message Edited by Samutz on 08-27-2006 09:13 AM

You need to update the information regarding what Mac this is and what version of OS X you're running.
You show a PB G4, which won't run the Mac App Store.

  • Update causing mouse scroll problems

cant scroll sideways since the 10.6.8 update.   wired mouse, restarted twice, fixed permissions no difference

Try a SMC reset and if the mouse has a ball then remove the ball and clean it. If you cannot remove it then using a clean sheet of white paper rub the mouse ball on the paper very vigorously for 30-60 seconds. The idea is to dislodge gunk on the ball.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Updated pod now with problems

I have just updated my 30G ipod photo to 1.2.1 and with the latest itunes on my computer.
Two things have occured, when docked in my istation, itunes no longer recognises the ipod connected via a fire wire(i have tried a replacement wire and alternative port)
And when docked the screen crashes from what ever it was on into a screen headed import with the message ready to connect.
The USB connection still updates, but I'm on USB1 , so want to use my firewire.
All this worked fine for the last 8 months, it's only since the recent update, is it possible to go back to an old update if apple have messed around with this update because they no longer support firewires?.

You can try putting the iPhone into DFU mode and see if that will let you restore and remove the jailbreak:
    http://osxdaily.com/2010/06/24/iphone-dfu-mode-explained-and-how-to-enter-dfu-mo de-on-your-iphone/
Some jailbreaks cannot be removed and in some cases will permanently disable your iPhone. If that happens to you, then you will have to buy a new iPhone; Apple will provide no support, warranty or out-of-warranty, for a jailbroken iPhone.
You're on your own from here. We can provide no further help with a jailbroken iPhone in these forums.
    Good luck.

  • We bought a time capsule then the wifi has a problem since it does not identify the existing wireless network and it says that its need to have an update firmware. The existing firmware is 7.3.1, does it have an newest update firmware existing now?

We bought a time capsule, 1TB, then the wifi has a problem since it does not identify the existing wireless network and it says that its need to have an update firmware. The existing firmware is 7.3.1, does it have an newest update firmware existing now? Does APPLE do not provide latest firmware for this item?

How old is that Time Capsule?  The fact that it still have firmware 7.3.1 suggests that it's not the latest model.  The latest firmware available for my two-year-old model is version 7.5.2.  Apple does provide firmware updates.  You just have to let the Time Capsule download and install them.  Use AirPort Utility to do that.
Regarding your Wi-Fi problem, please explain what you mean by "it does not identify the existing wireless network".
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

  • External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware

External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware on Extreme as well as both of my Airport Expresses. Hard drive is USB connected to Extreme.

Reboot the USB drive.. assuming it is powered.. or unplug and replug a self-powered drive.. (you should not use self-powered drives on AE before the latest model.. always use a powered hub).
Does the drive now appear in finder..
If not reboot both drive and the AE.. it should now appear.
If it doesn't work with direct connection try a powered hub.. that can help.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • G5 Firmware update necessary? Random problems since Tiger upgrade.

    I have a PowerMac G5 (7,2) with a 1.8 GHz PowerPC 970 (2.2) CPU running under boot version 5.1.4f0. I have added memory.
I apparently upgraded from OS 9 to 10.2.8 without running any firmware updates. I quite frankly don't remember. I have since upgraded to Tiger, directly from 10.2.8. (There were OS X versions in between, I'm told. *wry smile*)
I am now having random problems.
The machine won't sleep. Display will but tower won't.
On occasion when I boot it up, I get the blue screen and nothing else; I have to shut it off with the power button and restart.
iPhoto (ancient version) is running agonizingly slowly (better since I did the fix suggested in the iPhoto forum in answer to someone else's question).
A short while ago, (in the last week) I noticed that some of my rules in mail ceased functioning (while others work fine). I deleted and recreated them to no avail. I previously had serious Mail problems that I fixed thanks to Mr. Gost, but those were largely of my own creation, so this latter might be unrelated.
If I'm reading things on the various boards and in Apple's Support forum right, in order to truly fix this I should deal with the firmware, to wit:
    1. temporarily remove the memory I added (not factory-installed)
    2. somehow (handwave) install OS 9 OR boot up from a OS 9 disk
    3. download and install the 5.1.5f2 uniprocessor firmware update that Software Update keeps insisting I need.
    4. reinstall the added memory
    5. If I've reinstalled OS 9, reinstall 10.2.8 and then reinstall Tiger. (because I can't go directly from 9 to 10.4, right?) Otherwise, a clean install of Tiger might be a good idea.
    Is this accurate?
Should this solve my blue screen and non-sleeping issues?
Are those issues indicative of a serious problem, or just annoying?
Is there more than one firmware update I should be using?
Will updating my firmware at this point create more issues than it is worth (as I'm seeing that many people had issues after firmware updates?)
Also, these problems seem to have intensified since the update to 4.10. Can I go back to 4... um... the last update? If so, can you point me to directions?
Sorry to be so verbose. I'm obviously more than a little behind the bell curve on this upgrade. The version of iPhoto I want (6) isn't even sold anymore.

Software updater insists the firmware update I need is 5.1.5f2. The only information I can find on this is on a 2004 page at apple support (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117) that states:
These firmware updates cannot be installed when the computer is started up from Mac OS X. In order to install them, you must start up the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk (not from a CD).
When you click on the technical details it says:
Remove any third part RAM before installing this Firmware Update. After the Firmware Updater has verified that it has been completed correctly, you can re-install your third party RAM.
There are other firmware updates, but they don't appear to address the issues I have been having, and they're not what Software Updater says it needs. Am I missing something obvious here?
I will check the USB devices. Thank you.
