Updated i tunes, now ipod won't work

i keep getting the bubble message, that the device has malfunctioned and can not be recognized...
is there a way to restore without it being hooked up to computer?

I also have the same problem, downloaded the new iTunes and wala ~ my ipod will not hook up to pc or iTunes. I've sent an email to the support area, a very LONG ANGRY message. I suggest we all do this, as it's quite obvious that with all these posts the iTunes update has pretty much made all our ipods garbage. What's the point of having this if I can't sync anymore music/tv shows to it? And I still have 3/4th of my memory empty!!

  • Computer restarted and now iPod won't work, please help!

I've been using my iPod shuffle since September, and there have been no problems, I updated it with the newest software and everything. Then today, I was changing the songs on it, and right in the middle of updating, my computer shut off and restarted. Now my iPod will not work, and iTunes won't restore it (it keeps saying an unknown error occurred (1415)). How can I get my iPod to start working again?

Follow the instructions in this article if you haven't already done so.

  • New Computer (Windows 7)! Now iPod won't work

I had a Windows Vista computer and the hard drive died, so the computer won't work at all. Just bought a new Windows 7 computer.
I installed iTunes, no problem, but when I plugged in the iPod it didn't recognize it and also now the ipod is 'stuck' on one song. I cannot change it, shut it off, or go to main menu. I have tried everything, but the ipod is completely fozen. I checked hold at the top and that was not accidently moved over or anything.
Tried to plug it in my old computer, but it didn't budge. It wont turn off or anything. I cant even retore it because it doesnt show up on itunes.
What do I do? Please help!! Thank you!

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 7 Professional, ipod class 80G.
itunes and my ipod "freeze," or become unresponsive.
I have to unplug my ipod from my computer without ejecting it, which then remains frozen. I've restored it. The problem continues.
    Please help?

  • 2.1 update failed, now Ipod won't work

So I foolishly paid the 10 bucks to download the new 2.1 update for my ipod touch, and at the end I got an error saying the update failed. So, I have tried to restore, and it gets through the whole process, then gets stuck on "veryfing ipod software...". I'm pretty sure something is wrong because the ipod turns off. Now I can't use my ipod at all. What can I do if I can't get it to restore? THe nearest Apple store is an 8 hour drive?

Are you trying to upgrade to 2.0 in your new user account as well? If not, try that, so iTunes downloads a new copy of that software installer, just in case the one downloaded on your normal user account is somehow damaged or unusable.
If the Apple store isn't convenient, you can call Apple or go online to set up mail in service. They basically send you a box to send your iPod back to them, and then send a replacement out.

  • Installed Itunes 7.0.2, now Ipod won't work

I updated my Itunes software, like I was instructed to do so when I went into Itunes, and now my Ipod (U2 special Edition with click wheel) will not work at all. Itunes says that the Ipod appears to be corrupted, and I have to restore it to factory settings, but after I restore it, it still doesn't work, and Itunes again says my Ipod appears to be corrupted and must be restored to factory settings. I've already restored it twice, and tried all the other basic troubleshooting tip. Please let me know what I should do.

    Try this.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time, or it gets stuck in the "restore" loop.

  • Updated ITunes but now it won't work

Ok I didn't see this posted anywhere. I downloaded the latest update for iTunes (10.2 or something like that) and had quicktime and all that updated. Everything went fine and I restarted my computer like it said to do but not when I try to open iTunes it says
"ITunes cannot run because some of its required fields are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Please tell me there is a way I can fix this without having to reinstall iTunes as I assume that means I have to sync all my CDs to iTunes yet again!

Just so you know, you're not alone in this although my message is saying "required files are missing" instead of fields. I also note from other threads that the Airport connection bug is still in this upgrade for the third upgrade since going to iTunes 10.
This is not good enough Apple ! Check your updater software before unleashing it on the general public. One faulty upgrade is an accident, this has now happened on three. Sort it out or get some competent QA people in.

  • HELP!! Updated iTunes and now it won't work

I just updated itunes & quicktime. I can't open itunes, it tells me that I need to have quicktime 7.0.3. which I do. It tells me to reinstall which I've done 3 times.
    Help!!!
    Thank you!

    hello Illinois!
I can't open itunes, it tells me that I need to have quicktime 7.0.3. which I do.
hmmm. is that message saying that you have 7.0d0 installed?
if so, what we're going to try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 install. (that's the version of QT which you are supposed to be getting in an itunes 6.0.2.23, 6.0.3.5 or, as of this afternoon, an itunes 6.0.4.2 installer bundle.)
download and save the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if the standalone QT install goes through okay, will your itunes launch properly?
    love, b

  • TS1538 Why won't my iPhone 5 apple device connect to apple itunes store? I updated iOS7 and now it won't work. All my music does appear on the phone, but a playlist I created won't update. . Help!?!?!

Before I upgraded to IOS7 I could connect my iPhone5 with my computer but it won't let me do it now

Without the Apple ID and passcode that was used to originally activate the device you will not be able to use it ever. This is Activation Lock, a feature of iOS 7. See this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818
Without that information, that device is nothing more than a fancy paperweight and no one, including Apple will be able to activate it.

It will work well in both modes. If you spend a llittle time with the Pages User Guide the Page Layout mode will start to make more sense to you.

  • Update failed and now system won't work. Itunes update. Running Windows 7-64 Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Asks if I have priviledges

System was running fine until the update

    Hello jackhennessy,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below as an administrator:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.  You can find the full article here:
