Updated iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1. It gets stuck at when syncing on itunes (PC) "waiting for items to copy" step 8, for hours. I disconnected it and now my phone won't stop downloading on it's own. What am I to do please?.
i have this same problem on my 3gs, but my bar isnt loaded at all. My itunes was not the latest version when I did the update and im wondering if thats anything to do with it? i dont want to restore it because last time i lost all my album artwork which took me ages to do.

Do you mean that you want to update your iphone that currently has 4.2 to the newest software 4.3.2?
If so, then update it as you always do, via itunes. Click Check for updates.
If you want to upgrade to version 4.2, then you cannot as 4.3.2 is the latest. -

I found this, I can't believe it but it worked.
Connecting to a different USB worked for me! Some USB ports are tied together on the motherboard (I think, not a computer builder) so try plugging in on the other side of your laptop or maybe the back side of your desktop (which is what I had to do, to make Windows download the restore iPhone driver). -
Tries updating iPhone 4S with iOS 6, update failed and now phone stuck on itunes logo
So i tried updating my iPhone last night to ios 6. Soon after the update began, iTunes said an error occurred and the installation stopped. now my phone is stuck on the itunes logo with a usb plug under it. I have tried everything i know of. turning the phone on and off/trying the reset thing with the power/home button does nothing. plugging into the wall does nothing. when i plug the phone into my computer, the sound of a device being connected happens, but iTunes does not recognize a device. no message pops up about a device in recovery mode or anything. I uninstalled then reinstalled everything apple-related, did not fix the problem. I'm not overly tech-savvy, but if anyone has any suggestions, lemme know please. ive spent well over 5 hours trying to fix this thing to no avail
OK i figured it out. you have to put it in DFU mode before itunes will recognize the phone.

Ive had a MacBook as my laptop broke. So set it all up
& decided to plug my iPhone 4 in for iOS 5 update. The following is what I done:
1. Backed up my iPhone to iTunes before going out. Took ages!!!!
2. Started to download iOS 5 to iTunes & went out.
3. Next morning updated iOS 5 to my iPhone 4
4. Restored my phone
Conclusion :
Phone has only some of my apps (most recent arent there), all of my photos, videos,
texts, call history, notes, bookmarks. But no contacts!!! So basically my phone is exactly
the same apart from no contacts & half apps missing.
Can someone explain what is going on??
The texts & phone history dont show no names just numbers as if I never had contacts.
Seen a lot of people mention check iCloud settings etc. Am I not right in saying I didn't have
iCloud until I updated to ios 5??
This is very frustrated please someone with knowledge & know apples complications (which is
everything) reply with their views on this.You can only sync an iPhone to ONE computer.
So if you plugged it into a new computer and did an update, then yes all your data is lost.
If you still have your old computer, or it's harddrive, you can plug the iphone into it and restore from the last back up.
There is a warning on the screen of new computers telling you that all data will be lost if you sync your iPhone.
So users have to accept this window to continue. -

I updated my iphone 5 last night to the latest update 6.1 (and signed into the cloud for the first time) and now all my SIM contacts are gone....only my Facebook ones remain. How can I get them back?
The iPhone doesn't store any information on the SIM at all. Updating the phone should not have affected anthing on the SIM. Are you sure you're not talking about contacts stored somewhere else?
Did you try re-importing the contacts from the SIM if that's where they came from? -
When trying to update iPhone 4 to IOS 4.3, keep getting "network connection timeout" message. Help!
Using iTunes and my iPhone 4 IOS 4.1 I keep getting a "network connection timed out" message. At a lost on what to due.
Any help appreciated.HUGELY FRUSTRATING!! Getting a "network connection timed out" error after waiting three hours for the download to complete is unacceptable. Had this problem running Windows 7 on an HP wireless laptop, IE 8, and Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus. I had just updated my iTunes to the latest version so I didn't want to wipe out the whole thing and re-download as some boards suggested (I'd also tried that last year on another computer that did the same thing on an iPod update - didn't work). I also did not want to totally disable my anti-virus program.
After reading many discussions online about the problem, here's what worked for me on the first try. You need to add some Apple and Verisign addresses to your Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer:
In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options, Security tab. Click on Trusted sites, then click the Sites button. I also unchecked the "disable server verification (https) for all sites in this zone" box (under the box that will show your trusted sites). Here's what I added. (The underlining here is not mine - done by this site reading my entries as internet addresses. They won't underline when you enter them in trusted sites):

Worked like a charm!! This list was culled from several posts from several different discussion forums. I then closed out IE, restarted my computer (just in case :-) ),and updated through iTunes without a problem! -
Updating iphone 4 with ios 7 software. Made it thru download and am now setting up security questions and it says optional rescue Email. However I do not have the option to skip this page. I even submitted a rescue email and registered it with my apple id on this website but cannot progress in set up. Am I missing a step? Phone is now in emergency mode only! Not sure what to do next.... Any suggestios?
Forgot to add that I want to power my phone off but cannot due to broken button... Any other way to power this phone off to help fix original problem!!

They cause problems because not all phones/carriers seem to interpret them the same way. If your friend has an iPhone 3G, they don't have iOS 5.1.1 and don't have, if I recall correctly, the builit in keyboard. They're probably using some third party emoji app. If you install the exact same app, you might stop having problems. But if not, you have choice: be cute or have your SMS readable. -
Recently my pc crashed and I had to have a new profile built. Now when syncing my iphone 4s to the computer the sync gets stuck on step 8 and "syncing artwork" It never finishes syncing...just sits there for hours. Subsequently most of my music and apps are missing from my iphone because it never finishes syncing. How do I fix this?
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

I updated my iphone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and now I cannot retreive or send my e-mails. We have an Exchange server at work. I still receive the e-mails on all my devices just fine and I can see the subject headings & a small portion of the body of the e-mail, but when I open the e-mails there is no body and it reads, "This message has not been downloaded from the server". Very aggrevating and is not helping my business at ALL!! Same has happened with both iPads we own now.
Delete then add back the exchange acct on each device.

Just updated iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1.2 (from some version of iOS 6), now it won't sync with iPhoto 9.4.3 on my MacBook pro (running OS 10.8.5). I plug it in and iPhoto recognizes the iPhone but only displays a 'Loading..." message next to the 'New Photos' page.
Tried it also on my older Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iPhoto 9.2.3 and same problem.
Any ideas? Already tried rebooting both devices.I have same problem but with iPhoto 9.5.1
