Updated Ipod 4th gen to iOS 6.1.3

I updated my Ipod 4th gen to iOS 6.1.3 but after the installing the new iOs my ipod stopped working. Now, it's just showing/blinking the apple logo. Help! What happened?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do I update ipod 4th gen to ios 7 to use aple tv?

Received an aple tv device for christmas.  It says it can be used with ipod 4th gen or laterf but I can't update the ios on the ipod to ios7.  Please help!

Apple TV only works with bluetooth keyboards, the pairing with IOS is only for setup purposes and requires 5th gen iPod Touch anyway.
You can use basic airplay to stream content through apps (if the developer has enabled it)

  • Updated Ipod 4th Gen to IOS 6 but now Itunes tells me to restore Ipod and that data could be lost should i restore, it will not let me do anything until i restore

I have an Ipod 4th Generation just now updated to IOS 6 thru Itunes, says update complete but now it tells me to restore the Ipod and data would be lost. I can not do anything till I restore Ipod and I am worried about losing games, music and other apps. Do I restore Ipod and will I lose games and music?

Do you have a current backup of the content of your iPod? If not restoring will remove Apps and their data. The Apps can be replaced at no charge but the data will be lost.
What is the exact message that you are seeing?

Today, i attempted to update my iPod (4th Gen) to iOS 6 on my computer. When it was updating it came up with an error, it then asked me to restore my iPod which i did. During this process it came up with another error. Now, everytime I turn on my iPod, it asks me to connect to iTunes. When i do this, it connects to the computer but doesnt show up in iTunes. Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

Updated iPod (4th generation) to iOS 6 and now it will not turn on...
It sometimes has the apple on the screen, or says it needs to be charged, or is all white, black, or yellow. I have tried charging it, leaving it alone for a while and turning it off and back on. Nothing has worked. What should I try to do??? Help please!!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Trouble with updating iPod 4th gen.

I tried updating my iPod touch 4th gen to the newest update, but it wouldn't load. Now my iPod is stuck on the loading screen with the Apple logo and is frozen. I tried restarting it, but it did not respond. I unplugged it from my computer, but now, when I plug it back in, the computer doesn't recognize it. What should I do to fix this problem?

Put your iPod into DFU mode (instructions can be found here http://osxdaily.com/2010/06/24/iphone-dfu-mode-explained-and-how-to-enter-dfu-mo de-on-your-iphone/ ) and iTunes should then be able to see it as a device.

  • Trouble reset/reformat/update ipod 4th gen

I have the sad face icon appear on my 4th gen 20gb ipod, so i throw it into disk mode and when i connect it to my laptop, the comp recognizes it for a second but then it tries to reset again and the same sad face comes up again. Ive had success with fixing the folder ! icon but have failed in this one.

    OK try this
    1) with the ipod DISCONNECTED, put it in "Disk Mode"
    2) Open task manager (alt, ctrl and del keys), goto the "Process" tab, find "ipodservice.exe" highlight it and hit "End Process"
    3) connect the ipod to the PC, goto "My COmputer" rightclick the ipod and hit format, UNCHECK "Quick format" and hit start.
    4) When its done, safly disconnect the ipod from the PC and restart the PC so the "ipodservice.exe" is started back up
    5) Open the ipod updater located in start>all programs>ipod
    6) with the ipod still in "Disk mode" connect it to the PC and hit "Restore" on the ipod updater

  • Can't update iPod 5th gen to iOS 7.0.4

y son received an iPod 5th gen for Christmas but it hasn't been updated so it is using the 6.1.3 version. My MacBook and the iPod itself won't update, any ideas on how to fix this please?

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Volume and Lock buttons stopped working after new iOS 4.3.3 update (ipod 4th gen)

After I updated my ipod with the iOS 4.3, the volume and lock buttons stopped working.
This has happened before and it'sprobably one of the most annoying problems ever.
The lock button tends to stop working but then works again only when it wants to, but the volume buttons dont work at all.
When the locked button worked again I turned it off and turned it on again, but it didnt fix the problem.
I've pretty much tried everything that I've read and nothing seems to work.
So now, I don't know what to do.
Should I take it to a random apple store or to where I bought it from?
It seems that it's happening to almost everyone, so at least I'm not the only one and maybe someone can help me out

If you have restored in iTunes on a computer and the problem remains then it's a hardware fault and it needs to be repaired. When you update the iOS version on an iOS device it checks the hardware components, this is when it'll detect un-diagnosed hardware faults and the components will stop working... even if they were working previously

  • Error -1 while updating iPod 2nd Gen to iOS 2.2 to 4.2

    Hi All,
I had 2nd gen ipod touch and it had some touch screen problem. I went to apple and paid 99$ for replacement as my ipod touch was out of warranty.
Came home plugged in the touch, itunes asked me to update to iOS 4.2. Currently I am having iOS 2.2 on the touch.
When I tried to update, itunes downloaded the file, extracted it and threw me an error "ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)"
I have tried all the steps found on apple sites but nothing seems to be working for me
I tried steps like, updating itunes to latest version, Mac OS updates, restarting...
uninstalling the s/w which are used to jailbreak some of my prev ios devices etc.,
    please help me
    Regards
    -Hari

    Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. That seems to be your case. ake an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT1766 iPod 4th Gen running ios 6.1.5 how to remove restrictions passcode

One of the kids has accidentally input a "Restricitons" passcode on this iPod.
I have done a factory reset and back up from iTunes but this hasn't worked at removing the RESTRICTIONS.
I'm now at hourly guesses to try and randomly work out the code but this will take a lifetime!
Suggestions please - and they need to be for a non-techy.
It is set to sync to iTunes via cable.

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod. . Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - If you are up to file manipulation see the following but it may not work for iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 7

  • I have disabled all Kaspersky security, windows firewall and windows defender and Itunes still will not update my Ipod touch 4th gen to IOS 5, Helppppp!

I can't get the IOS 5 to work for windows Vista.  I'm running kaspersky pure 2.0, windows firewall and windows defender.  I have turned them all off, I then attach my Ipod 4th gen and I get the "cannot connect to itunes update server".  I ran diagnostics in itunes and it tells me I dont have a internet connection.  I'm on the internet right now, and I DO have a internet connection, but it tells me Itunes says otherwise.  I'm able to send this message on the same pc with internet connection but keep running into this error.  I have now read discussiong boards through apple and disabled all my firewalls, still no luck.  I was able to update the lates version of itunes, and just waiting to get my ipod updated now, please help me.

On the computer you should be able to go to the network properites. Go to the TCP part and unchec the line that says obtaind DNS automatically and check the one that says use the following. Add the 8.8.8.8 and Google other 8.8.4.4.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen failed iOS 6.1 update, stuck in recovery mode

Last night I tried to update my iPod Touch 4th gen to iOS 6.1. The update downloaded from iTunes perfectly fine, but as it was installing I got an error message. Now my iPod is stuck in recovery mode and will not start the recovery process. Both the "Devices and Printers" and "Device Manager" in Windows 7 recognize the iPod as being connected and in recovery mode, but iTunes is not showing the prompt that it detects the iPod in recovery mode. I have tried putting the device into DFU mode, uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device driver, all with no success. I won't be home for about 6 hours, so I can't try connecting it to another computer yet. Can anyone please tell me how to fix it?

Yeah, just happened to me too. Third time Apple has ****-canned my iPod by updating the iOS. So tired of having to do this over and over everytime Apple releases an update.
Thanks a ton, Apple! I was just thinking what I could be doing this eveing after a long day at work, now I've got my answer! You guys are just WONDERFUL!
