Updated iPod via updates and NOW!!!

Well, I updated. Then when I started up iTunes, the program froze and I had to force quit (force quit said "Not Responding). Then it said that iTunes noticed my purchased files were not on my computer and did I want the put there...I said no and it tried to do it anyway and froze thrice more. Then when I went to the iTunes store, it said my info had change, even though it hadn't and that I needed to update...so I did. Now that isn't happening but although I can see the iPod icon in iTunes, it does not appear on my desktop, nor can I access any of the songs. I can open the iPod directory in iTunes and see the songs, but they are light grey and will not play. This has not been my month...two hard drives gone bad and now this.AHHHHHHHHH!

Hey Melody! thanks for replying, and yes they are. the only problem is my music has NEVER crashed before and now it does after the update so this upsets me greatly. I just hope apple knows this is going on so they can fix and send a new patch.

If you live near an Apple store take it in for diagnosis. Don't forget to make an appointment online first. If you don't live near a store, you may get help by searching "youtube" for DFU Restore ipod. This is not difficult to do but it requires proper timing to get the device into DFU mode.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I have to go into services and stop the apple mobile device and start it up again to get my devices recognized. Anyone else having the same issue? One of the iphones is not upgraded to the new iOS, the other phone and the ipod are updated.

You probably need to update to Snow Leopard10.6.8
Click Apple icon top left and click Software Update and keep doing that until it says software is up to date.
That should bring your itunes to the correct version.

After charging the iPod for half an hour, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:

My Apple TV stalled during an update and now just shows an image of it being plugged into a USB. It won't complete the update and does nothing when I plug it into my Mac via USB.

2 Apple TVs. The first won't reboot, it stalled during an update and now shows a picture of a UBS plug. Ive tried to plug into my computer, nothing happens. At a standtill.
The second Apple TV works but only if I send something via Airplay. The remote no longer has any affect. The light on the front of the Apple TV blinks when I push a buttom on the remote but nothing happens.

Ok, with itunes open on the pc, plug one end of the usb cord into the computer, but not connected to the ipad.
now, press the power button on the ipad until it turns off.
Then, press and hold the home button on the ipad at the same you plug the usb cord into the ipad. DON'T LET GO OF THE HOME BUTTON.
Keep holding the home button until you see the recovery mode message pop on the itunes window.
When that happens, you should now be able to restore.

The shuffle setting in the main menu will shuffle through the entire library as you have found out.
You need to go to settings>shuffle this will toggle through off/song/album. Once you have set this it will stay the same until you change the setting.
Now when you start playing a song in a playlist the iPod will shuffle through that playlist (or if you select your song through artist then it will shuffle through all the songs for that artist etc)

If Ralph's suggestion doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
