Updated Itunes nothing but problems afterwards

Hello,
   I downloaded a new update today and now nothing is working like it was before.  I can not do a backup from my ipod touch to my computer.  I have playlists on my ipod that I can not put on my computer.  When trying to sync, it says my computer says it is syncing, but if I look onto my ipod it says it was last sync in August.   What can I do to fix this?

I am also experience problems since updating itunes for Windows 7.0 at the end of September 2013. Does not show any of my AppleTVs as devices for syncing. Not able to share my library even though I am logged-in and set to on.  All was working great until this upgrade...  Very disappointing... along with iOS 7.0 for my iphone....

    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Nothing but problems since update from v5

    Is there any way that I can uninstall iphoto 6 and go back to v5? I have had nothing but problems since this update. At first no photos were imported, then once I imported them (which took a couple of hours), many of them are duplicates that I now need to sort. But the worst part is that many of them are thumbnails that are too small so that when i try to drag a photo into iWeb everything is pixelated and looks horrible. I have spent hours reading this help site and tried BatChmod and iPhoto library manager and rebuilt the thumbnails but still have these problems. I don't understand why everything worked beautifully in v5 and this "update" is causing so many problems. I didn't really want to update iPhoto in the first place. I bought iLife so that I could use iWeb and the other apps automatically installed. This is extremely frustrating.

    Below, my responses:
    "Very strange. Upon the initial opening of iPhoto6 your library photos are reorganized into a new folder structure different than methods employed by earlier versions of iPhoto. Once completed iPhoto ought to open automatically revealing your Photo Library as it existed in iPhoto 5. Either:
    - iPhoto 6 never processed your original library and instead simply created a new Photo Library (hence the blank library you saw - moving the Library to a location other than the Pictures folder, or naming the Library something other than iPhoto Library could be contributing causes),
    - or the app didn't work properly, which I doubt."
    *It seems that it must have created a new Photo Library. I didn't rename or move the file prior to the update as far as I know. It was in the Pictures file and appeared to be fine, but when I opened iPhoto, the library was blank and said No Photos.

    I don't remember getting a prompt asking which library, but it could have happened. No, I only had one photo library. I only used Library Manager after I encountered the problem of the empty library and turned to this forum for advice.

If it's the former, you could trash the entire iPhoto Library folder in your existing Pictures folder, then move the backup library intact into the Picture folder.     Well... no, I didn't have a current backup prior to the initial opening of iPhoto6. Completely my fault there.
    "If the backup is after the reorganization, from what you describe, it seems your backed-up libraries may not have been reorganized. Advice is the same as in the previous paragraph."
    I did that as well - launched hold option key, etc. Then I had photos after a few hours of rebuilding. That was good, but now I'm not sure what to do with all of the thumb sized duplicates. I think that all of the photos are there, just organized in a bit of a strange way - I usually had my library organized by roll according to date - and the rebuilding put things in strange orders and also merged some rolls, etc. For the most part though, each rebuilt roll is either fullsize or thumbsize, so that is a bit helpful. Since none of the previously sorted albums survived the update installation it's just very time consuming sorting through thousands of pics.
    What I've done now is sorted rolls into fullsize and thumbsize, as a start to making sure that I have duplicates of all photos in both sizes before I do anything else. Once I have that job completely finished, what should I do with all of the thumbsize duplicates? Do I need the thumbs? Can I take them out of the viewing window of the application?
    Of course I was planning on doing a backup the week that I got the new software but was too excited to install to remind myself to do the backup first... A good lesson to learn I suppose.

    Check that the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible and that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
    If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear.
    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
    * Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button

  • Nothing but problems since iOS 7.0.3

    I updated to 7.0.3 this week. (iPhone 4) Since then my Phone has been nothing but problems.
    Every time I open an app, I get the 'Please Connect to iTunes to recieve push notifications.'  I have connected and it did nothing.
    iMessage is flat out not working.  Anyone with an iPhone cannot send me messages even with iMessage turned off.  When I try to connect iMessage it times out and says 'Cannot Activate iMessage'.  I have tried in multiple wireless networks as well as with WiFi turned off.
    Nothing.
    I have tried connecting the phone to the iOS diagnostics, with no sucess.
    Really frustrating.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • IOS 4.0.X - Nothing but problems.

    The iOS System has caused nothing but problems with my iPod Touch.
    Here's the main problems I've noticed with iOS 4:
    Applications crash randomly, even while idling.
    WiFi signals are weaker.
    WiFi stops working once in a while, even when I'm two feet from the router emitting the connection.
    Applications run many times slower.
    Begins freezing up for a couple seconds at a time after only 5 minutes of use.
    Cannot play games that require speed and accuracy because of the freezing.
    Cannot Sync with iTunes sometimes. Says it's an invalid device.
    If there's any way I can get back to the 3.1.x software, please let me know. I'm tired of all the problems I'm getting and my iPod is almost useless to me. Even my music freezes once in a while.
    I'm about ready to throw it away and just use my phone for my music. Please, Apple - Make it so we can go back to 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 if we want. Don't force us to use firmware our devices can't handle.
    Also, before anyone makes a comment saying I shouldn't have updated if I didn't want it, I like most of the features of iOS 4, but my iPod can't handle it, and I don't want to buy a new one. I didn't know it would cause all of these problems.
    Thanks ahead of time if anyone can provide me with a way to downgrade back to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 firmware.

    I've tried restoring to previous software but I always get the 3194 error after it tries to validate. All other ways I need to have jailbroken my iPod on an earlier firmware, which I've never jailbroken my iPod, ever.

    but still freezes up i put my comp into a very good repair store cost me $119 to only to find no problem with computer, they had it running ,burning , doing everything properly, but they were using ie, as soon as i stoped that and went to firefox, back to lag etc. com bluescreen then crashing when i got home twice so far tried using previous version in system same problem, how do i send my bookmarks from firefox to ie on this system, so i can completely uninstall then reistall a fresh earlier version

    Why do people do this shit.
    Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

    Are you using Adobe Reader to access the Export pdf service to convert the file.
    If so please update Reader to the latest v 11.0.10 and then check. Also make sure you are signed in with your Adobe ID in Reader.
    Can you please also try signing in to the web url: https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf  with your Adobe ID and check if you are able to convert the file or not.

  • Nothing but problems since switching out SIM card's at at&t

    so lately, i've been having this strange recurring issue with my sim card. every so often the iphone will report that it is not installed even when it is in there, only way i was able to correct it would be to shut the phone off and turn it back on. it got annoying to the point where i took it too AT&T Yesterday and had the sim card's switched out.
    Since then i've had nothing but problem's, i went home and my iPhone just started spitting out error's like crazy. It keept reporting "Accessory is not supported by the iphone, would you like to go into airplane mode to reduce sound quality? you will not be able to make or receive calls while in airplane mode"
    To me that sounded like a problem with the activation process after AT&T switched out my sim card.
    So I plugged in my iPhone into my computer, and it gave me more problems.. Window's was able to detect my iphone but it took FOREVER. I left it in there for two hours until it finally activated the phone.
    After that scenario i thought it would be best to try and do a full restore on my iphone to see if that would help clear the lag, i hit the restore button and let the download finish.. then after itunes just hanged there for 3 hours and did nothing. so i had no other choice but to unplug the phone and try again.
    Now when i plug the iphone into that same USB port I get 1 of two error's, more commonly i get an "itunes could not connect to iphone due to an unknown error (0xE80000024)" http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/8369/iphoneerror2.jpg
    When i restart the computer and try to plug it into that same port i get this error "itunes could not back up the iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone" http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4837/iphoneerror.jpg
    If i try an other USB port it will connect and sync perfectly fine, but i cant do a restore to clear the lag issues, if i try it will just hang there. usually the only way i can "fix" this error is to re install window's entirely and start from scratch, which to be honest i'm really tired of doing..
    anyone have any idea what could be causing these problems? I'm not positive it's the phone itself so i want to try and restore it before i go to an apple store with these problems..

    Based on your description of the problems before and after getting a new SIM card, and before attempting a restore with iTunes and the problem that occured when trying to do a restore, I would give AppleCare a call at (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby ASAP.

  • Droid phones are nothing but problems

    I have a Droid 2 and my Finace has a Droid 3. The phone that he has is about the 4th phone that Verizon has sent him. So far so good on the one he has now. My Droid 2 has been nothing but problems since the day I got it. It powers down by itself, sometimes in the middle of a phone conversation. I don't get most of my phone calls. People have to text me to ask me to call them. The majority of the time I have to resend my text messages because they won't go through the first time. And I keep having to clear the data on my text messaging or it freezes up while i'm trying to text someone. Now all of a sudden in the last couple of weeks my phone freezes up completely. I really don't know what to do with this 600.00 phone that I paid full price for and i've only had it a little over a year. I've never dropped it, nor gotten it wet or anything. Every Droid that we've had doesn't work very well at all

    Where do I begin? I have a Droid X and I hear you. You haven't had the pleasure of receiving the same text (that a person sent you ONCE) over and again, sometimes for hours?
    Or, people that can't hear you on their end when you call them?
    Seriously, there are many "tips" some will offer, but no real answer.
    First off, how many apps have you downloaded? Have you tried a factory software reset? 
    Do a Search for instructions if you haven't and/or don't know how and afterwards, do not install any apps the first day and see if that helps.
    I have jumped through hoops troubleshooting my phone and have decided it is what it is until my upgrade date arrives.
    Good luck and hang in there.

  • 1.13 - nothing but problems

    1.13 has bought nothing but problems.
    Slow screen response.
    Slow apps.
    Drops calls.
    Drops half a call caller can't hear me.
    visual mail unreliable.
    O2 say take phone back to be fixed. Apple support also no help and won't let me go back to as purchased 1.12.
    Apple not open about known bugs or problems.
    The has become totally frustrating to us.
    Should Apple replace instead of repair or are the problems more basic?

    It is advised that basic troubleshooting be done before any sort of Repair/Replacement of product.
    The following troubleshooting steps may assist with this issue. If they do not then yes seek possible Repair/Replacement options that will be based on Apple's decision of which would work best for you.
    1. Reboot iPhone - Hold down the Home & Lock button together. Do not let go till you see a silver apple logo. Once you do let go of these buttons. The iPhone OS will reboot just like a computer does.
    Now test and see if your iPhone has the same issues.
    2. Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 1 min then turn it OFF. Settings- Airplane Mode ON for 1 min... Now turn it off. See if same issues occur.
    3. Reset Network Settings - ( Be Advised this does erase all WiFi passwords learned and possible VPN Settings. So VPN would need to be set back up and WiFi networks would need their password again so iPhone can learn.) Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings-Confirm- iPhone will reboot. See if same issues occur.
    4. Eject SIM card, And put SIM card back into iPhone, Please ensure iPhone is powered off before doing this.

    5. Restore iPhone. Please ensure that you backup all content before you restore, As restore will erase all content off the iPhone. Contact your local iPhone Support for assistance if needed. Once you are ready connect iPhone to iTunes, In the summary screen Restore iPhone.
    Now test iPhone see if the issues are the same.
    If they are still the same you got a couple more options.
    1. Possible bad SIM card. And if replaced could potentially resolve some of the issues.
    2. Getting iPhone Repaired/ Replaced. Again can not say which will happen this is based on what the agent feels would be best and if it has to go into the Depot if they are able to fix it without replacing.

    I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening. 
    My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
    The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
    Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
    My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
    I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

    I have always been a sky customer but decided to gamble and move to BT. I'm sorry to say it's been nothing but problems since I moved to the extent where I am forced to switch back on the sky box again tonight!
    Yet again someone seems to have pushed another faulty firmware update. First it was infinity and now it seems to be TV!
    Received a 302 error tonight and low behold I go on this forum and it seems to be a known issue.
    How does this happen? And why am I never compensated?? If I could cancel everything now I would.
    Such a shame....

    I have had BT TV Entertanment package as well as the HD extra bolt on just over 13 months now and have not had any real problems with it.
    I have also been on Infinity nearly 4 years and in that time have only ever really had a few minor problems with it.
    For me the Infinity service has improved since I first got it.
