Updated Lightroom and PS in CC and Lost RAW images

I am very new to CC and all the programs.  When I installed the updates after updating my MAC software to the newest version, I lost all my raw images.  I do not know what happened.  HELP!  All the JPEGS are there but I lost the rest.

After an update of OSX it’s best to trash the prefs file so that they get automatically re-built on next launch.
Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
Quit Finder and re-launch LR5

How do I update Lightroom 4.4 to download canon g16 raw images from my camera?

You cannot read your G16 native raw files with any version of LR 4 so there’s no information, here, about paying to update from LR4 to LR 4.4.  You need LR 5.2 to read G16 raw files natively.  LR 4.x to LR 5.x is a pay-for upgrade.
Alternatively you can use the DNG Converter 8.2 or newer to convert the G16 raw files to DNG raw files and those will work in your older LR 4 version.
Adobe updates whatever the current version is with new cameras, so once LR 5 came out LR 4.x ceased to be updated for new cameras.

    Any ideas?

My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

I have Lightroom 3.6 and it does not recognize the raw images from my canon 7d mark II, suggestions, do I need to upgrade?

Yes, you need an upgrade for native support in Lightroom. You need version 5.70 or higher; current version is 5.71.
Alternatively, you could use the most recent DNG converter and convert the raw files to DNG files before importing into Lightroom.

  • I have a Canon EOS T2i Camera and I want to import the RAW images into Aperture.  How do I import them as RAW images instead of jpeg ?

How do I import RAW images from my Canon EOS T2i camera into Aperture and have them show up as RAW images and not jpeg images?

See the list of supported raw formats:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
The footnote ** for the cameras  EOS Rebel T2i EF-S / 550D / Kiss X4**  says, that the raw format is only supported with Aperture 3. So you will have to upgrade to Aperture 3, to be able to import the raw from from your camera.

Lightroom 5.6 does not recognize nef (RAW) image files generated with the new Nikon D750: who can help here or knows what to do? Thanks, Peter

LR 5.6 doesn't support the new Nikon D750. You have to wait to the next update.
You con also install the release candidate of the DNG converter and convert your NEF files to dng.

  • I installed CS3 on my windows 8 laptop, and I can't open my raw images in camera raw. It worked fine on my old XP computer

I installed CS3 on my windows 8 laptop. Why can't I open my raw images in camera raw? Worked fine on my old XP computer

If in photoshop cs3 you go to Help>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?
Which camera are the camera raw files from?
After you downloaded the Camera_Raw_4_6.zip, you unzipped (extracted) the file and then copied the Camera Raw.8bi to
    Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats (windows 8 64 bit)
    or
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats (windows 8 32 bit)
replacing the existing camera raw 8bi?

  • Downloaded Camera Raw update 6.2 but still can't open raw images

I followed all the steps as indicated on this page: Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.2 update but for some reason I still can't open .CR2 files . My camera (Canon Rebel T3i) is on the list of supported files. What should I do? I'm using Windows and I have Photoshop elements 8.0.

You need camera raw 6.4 for your camera. It is mot compatible with PSE8. You need to upgrade to PSE13. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in PSE8 (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.6
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

    can anyone help?

Might be helpful if there are any more specific messages being shown to list them.
Just passing on what I've read:  Some people using PCs have reported that removing Photoshop, reinstalling from their original media, then updating to the very latest works where they haven't been able to get the software updated via the integrated process.  I don't know whether this applies to Mac, but it could represent something to try if you run out of options.
But before trying that, have you tried doing a manual installation of the latest updates?  You can download the appropriate one(s) directly from the following:

    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows

  • My Feedback and complaints on CS6 and Lightroom 4

I really am having trouble finding any other way to send some feedback to adobe so maybe this makes its way to someone who cares.
Overall the feature enhancements to CS6 and LR4 are good, however they have been executed very poorly.
I am very upset with the way CS6 has been working in comparison to CS5.5.  It is slow all around.  When something needs to be updated the programs I have open start running super slow and exhibit strange behavior with mouse clicks and menus that I have not performed forcing me to lose time right in the middle of working on projects to update the software and restart then boot up all the programs once again and find my place.  Several things that worked in CS5.5 will not work when the project is imported and updated to CS6 version. Additionally Lightroom 4 is god awfully slow compared to Lightroom 3 and the brush utility is extremely laggy.
The newest nusance to this update is that my application manager has now been updated and replaced with creative cloud application manager yet I do not want to use creative cloud, which is why I purchased a copy of CS6 and not CC.  During this update I was working on editing some large panoramas in lightroom 4 and became super frustrated when it started bogging down and was essentially useless to use, right in the middle of a project.
Why does this happen since the application manager doesn't even have anything to do with LR4?
I am very disappointed in the upgrade from CS5.5 and LR3.
I hope that somehow, without having sign up for the Creative Cloud, that Adobe will improve the speed of the software and functionality and release a patch or update.
For reference here is the system I am using and have been using with CS5.5 and LR3 with no problems, great perforamne and good reliability.
    Windows 7 64 Pro
    AMD Phenom II x4 840 3.2GHz
    16GB DDR3 RAM 4x4GB

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.
