Updated lumia 800 to 7.10 with firmware 1750.0823....

Hi, can anyone help please?
I had message to update my nokia 800 so i did. I installed all 10 of the updates until was told updates were completed, took about 20mins. Phone shows OS version 7.10.8773.98 & firmware 1750.0823.8858.12460 but no features seem to have changed, i cannot do anything that the Nokia update page describes. I have tried to force update (as others have been suggested to try) to see if I missed something when updating but still says no updates.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Cheers in advance. Toni

I don't know where you looked, but there's about four threads in the last day or so asking the same question.
Update is multiple parts
You need all parts
You did not install 10 updates, the update process is a 10 step procedure
There are at least three updates to complete.
MSFT just a day or so ago relased another update so you could well see a fourth.
The original 7.8 OS update was version 7.10.8858.x
The first fix released 14 March was to 7.10.8860.x
The current OS version is 7.10.8862.x
The current  Nokia Firmware version is 1753.823.8858.x
If you do not have these versions (see settings/about/more information) then you have more updates coming

I get notification of new update. When I go through update process and at last step it says update unsuccessful with error 80004005. Tried from different PC but still same. I tried to hard reset but giving same error. Current Os version 7.10.8112.7 and firmware 1600.2487.8107.12070.

    Hi,
I am getting the same error for 3 months now. I also have an unbranded phone which has been given to me from microsoft, that's why i cannot return it. I contacted microsoft support in both US and Poland but they both advised me to contact phone manufacturer (which I actually believe is a lie, since this error has been seen on Samsung and LG as well so it's probably software malfunction). I even tried restoring software, but it doesn't recognize phone. I really need this phone to update because Windows Phone 8 is coming out soon and I need it for testing purposes asap.
*note; removed mention of unofficial way to modofy device firmware.

  • 7.8 update Lumia 800 - stuck on 7.5, will not upda...

I have recently bought two Nokia Lumia 800’s, both phones are sim free and not locked to a network. One is using a Vodafone sim and the other Orange/EE sim.
The Vodafone phone has updated to 7.8 without any issues, connected it to Zune and it updated stright away... but the other phone on Orange/EE will not update to 7.8 [seems to be stuck on 7.5], If I select update in Zune it checks in and comes back telling me it has the latest software [no errors], I’ve been connecting the phone to Zune daily to see if the update will become available.
Can anybody help me with this query... I dont understand how two phones bought from the same shop in the same week can behave so differently, I cant see how this is down to the network provider?

    Hi Aaron
I also experienced this problem, like you I am also with EE. Luckily I read WP central regularly and found a safe way of updating your phone, however it can take a long time to get right, I spent over 2 hours over Jan 31st and Feb 1st. The process I used was force updating the phone and can be very time consuming. If you would like to follow the process, you can view this tutorial and please note your phone will first have to update from 8773, to 8779, to 8853, and  finally 8858 so the process will have to be repeated throughout.
I have no idea what has happened with the update being rolled out to EE but I can tell you that the update was passed on (Not accepted) by T-Mobile US.
Seeing this to be the case it would appear EE could do the same, this way will Bypass all that allowing you to get it
    Hope this helps

  • Nokia Lumia 800 device Contact Sync with MSN Live

How does the sync from device to MSN live work in the Nokia Lumia phone?
If you purchase a Nokia Lumia, and the dealer synchs your old mobile phone contacts to Nokia Lumia using the contact transfer. In this process you have lots of stale contact which you don't want to retain. Now Lumia doesn't have pc connectivity software like earlier PC Suite or Ovi suite. these were the wonderful piece of sw, and you could update your contact, store on the outlook, and transfer then to and from the device.
But with Lumia you are at fix now. the only way currently appears to be deleting one by one from device.
There is a MSN account, and if you have a data connectivity then you can synch your contacts to your live account. Now you have the backup of the contacts in the server, which fortunately can be imported and exported from/to and excel.
I thought of using this for the bulk update of contacts, and the technical support team says, that if you delete the contact from the server, while switching your data connectivity from mobile, and then put it on, the new state will be, the device contacts will come to server, and the server contacts will go to the device. which means the contacts will get swapped. I somehow couldn't believe in this definition of synching, and I believe, the synching will then keep the sum of the two contacts in both the location, which means the server will be again full. and so will be the device.
Can anybody tell how does the synching works for Lumia with Live account? so that I can update my contact list on bulk?
I also request Nokia to provide a local piece of sw like PC Suite for the Lumia device, this will increase the sale significantly.

You wont have 600 contacts in Hotmail server because you deleted them, and when you delete even one contact in Hotmail then it gets deleted from NLM because I tried it just now.  I deleted one contact a supermarket number when the phone was switched on and another contact with the phone switched off.  When I switched on the phone the contact disappeared from the phone.
So from this we know that if you delete all of your contacts on your Hotmail then your Nokia Lumia contacts will all be deleted from Nokia Lumia too, apart from the Facebook and Twitter contacts in the People window.
In Microsoft Outlook you can select a whole range very easily and export to .CSV format to upload to Hotmail, if you have Microsoft Outlook I think this is the most powerful and effective way but needs a few steps to do it depending on which version of Outlook you have.
For Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010, edit all of your contacts then go to the "File" menu, then click on "Options", then click on the "Advanced" button on the left side of the window that pops up.  After that move to the "Export" section on the right of the screen and click the Export button.
Now a menu opens.  You choose "Export to a file", then choose "Comma Seperated Values (Windows)", then choose the "Contacts" folder from the list that opens after that.  You will be shown a box to name and save the file that Outlook is about to make.
When you save the file remember where it is, then go to Hotmail and look for the "Manage" button above the list of contacts, when you find the button click it and choose "Import" from the menu that opens up.
After that you will be taken to a different page, look for the words "Add people from other services" and underneath that is a list of pictures and one of those pictures has the word "Outlook" next to it.  Click on the word "Outlook".  Then you will be taken to a new webpage.
When you reach the new webpage make sure you look at the words on that webpage called "Step 2" and make sure there is a green dot beside the words "Microsoft Outlook (using CSV)".  Now go to the words called "Step 3" and you will see a button called "Browse".  Click on the "Browse" button and then a box will open up asking you to find the file you exported from Microsoft Outlook, which I explained how to do earlier.
You can also use this process to export calendar from Microsoft Outlook to Hotmail, which will then sync the calendar on your Lumia phone too.

  • Force update lumia 800: Will I still be able to do...

    Hi,
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was not able to get the official update for my lumia, even though the website says that updates are available.
So I decided to force update it. However, I still would like to install the official update whenever it's available.
Is this still possible given that I have force updated my phone? Or do I have to downgrade back to .12070 ?
    Please help. Thanks

  • Didn't update Lumia 800, now can't

I am having an issue where I got the update notification on my phone and also it showed up on Zune. Because I was using my work laptop I got the Zune message that updating is not recommended as I am not using my primary computer. So I cancelled the update. Now when I check the update at home, Zune says I am up to date (with the my current fw 12070) also phone is saying no updates found.
    So what gives?

    Hi FinSteve,
    Thank you for your post.
Software updates are continuously made available based on operator approvals. Also, software updates for the Nokia Lumia range are released gradually through a quality control system called “throttling”. That means that initially only 50% of eligible phones will receive update notifications. Note that the percentage and duration of this “throttling” process may vary for certain software updates.  In your case, you just have to turn on automatic update notifications in Settings > Phone Update and select “Notify me when updates are found”. So the device will look for the update and prompt you once it is available again.
    Hope that helps

  • Unable to update Lumia 800 to 7.8

    Title says it all.
I bought my Lumia in December. My Lumia does not find any new updates, even when I have ticked the "notify me when there are new updates available".
    My current version is: 7.10.8783.12
I once, but only once! I got the phone updating, it was in step 7/8, then Zune gave me an error code (Can't remember what it was) and since that I have not been able to find that update again.
Summary: Phone / Zune can't find the 7.8 update

Try reconnecting phone again,if there is no update you have to wait,or contact your provider.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Live tiles update lumia 800

I have updated my phone directly from 7.5 to 7.10 - I never had the option to receive 7.8. I don't have the new start screen yet which I was looking forward to i.e. I cannot resize the tiles, I don't hae the new theme colours. I know there were issues with 7.8, so is the new start screen due to some out at a later update or is there something else I need to do?

Hi! Can you please double check the Software version of your phone? You can go to Settings > About > Software: Windows Phone...
If you have can see Windows Phone 7.8, this means you can resize the tiles and have additional theme colors since it's the latest update. Now, if you're still getting the Windows Phone 7.5 being the Software version, this means that you have to wait until the update becomes available for your device. The 7.10 that you are seeing could be the OS version and not the Software version.
    Cheers.

  • Serious Lag with OS4 update on 8gb iPod Touch, help with firmware rollback

    Hey all,
I updated my 8gb 3rd Gen iPod Touch to the 4.0 OS today and now i'm experiencing serious lag with everything. I want to roll back to an earlier OS, say 3.1.2 or 3.2 but I cant find anywhere to download a copy, its like apple force you to update then leave you fending for yourself with no options to download previous versions.
    Can anyone help?
Any other 8gb Touch owners having similar issues? Really not worth it just for folders and spell check...
Oh and Apple should be disgusted at how hard it is to find the link to make your own topics on this site, I'm a fairly skilled user and I was chasing my tail for a good 30min...
Firstly **** this place makes it hard to find how to post a topic

I find it comical that EVERYONE was complaning about the lost of features for 2nd gen ipod touchs, yet even now people complain of lag issues, imagine if apple DID put multi tasking and wallpaper on the 2nd gen.

Haha, I think its because of the logic we are using, cause I am a skilled user as well, and I had never attempted to make a topic here before either, I spent 10 mins looking and gave up lol.

  • Just updated lumia 800 - Screen jittering

The screen now jumps about when I hold my finger on the screen when it's plugged in

It has been known to happen when the phone is plugged in and I don't think there is a direct fix for it. Feel free to send a support request to Nokia and bring it to their attention.
When your phone is plugged into the wall charger and you have Wifi sync enabled, it will periodically try to sync with the Zune client even though your client PC/laptop is turned off. During this time, you will experience the screen lagging as you scroll. Turn off Wifi on the phone if you do not intend to sync via Zune or run the marketplace app and click on Disconnect.

  • Auto-update of date and time on Lumia 800

I've recently had my Lumia 800 in for "repair" as the auto-update switch did not appear on the menu.
The phone has come back (from carphone warehouse) with OS version 7.10.8858.136 and Firmware 1750.0823.8858.12460, both of which seem more up-to-date than the versions currently listed as the most recent.
    [How can that happen?]
The auto-update switch is still not available to me, and I am told that the "newer software does not support this function"
REALLY? Or are they just fobbing me off?

What network are you on ?

  • Nokia Lumia 800 - Software Update

I have tried loading the Windows Phone software update on mu Nokia Lumia 800 and every single time I have done this through Zune software my phone runs through the majority of tasks it has to do and then locks up at task 9 out of 10 as it re-starts my phone. I had left this going over night but still it hangs on 9 out of 10 tasks completed.
Has anyone else had this problem and did you overcome it?
My current firmware version is 1750.0805.8773.12220
My current OS version is 7.10.8773.98
    The latest versions are:-
    Firmware 1750.0823.885x.124x0
    OS Version 7.10.8862.144
Very frustrated as I have to start my phone again and restore it back to previous version.

  • Too many problems with my Lumia 800

Yesterday I bought a Lumia 800 and my experience with it has been very poor since then.
In the morning the windows marketplace was unable to connect to windows live ID. I was unable to download apps. and use other Bing services. So, I did a reset as it was written in some posts, after reset everything was working fine. Then, Nokia hub was not appearing in marketplace. I tried to update the Nokia Maps but it says that it is not available for my Lumia 800. App. Highlights is also not working and Bing vision failed to scan barcodes that it scanned before the problems.
I was a long time Symbian user and now I'm regretting my decision to buy a Nokia Windows Phone. I never faced any problem with my Symbian handsets but spending 24k on a phone that's giving me issues from the very first day is making me cry! This was the first time I crossed the Inr.18k Price point.

just take it to your nearest service centre, they will help you out!

  • Lumia 800 firmware update in Philippines

Hi guys, is there anyone of you who has Lumia 800 phone that is locked into Globe telecom? Been waiting for so long for al firmware update 12070 to come to my phone and up until now there's no update...
Nokia support always points me to Globe and Globe doesn't know how to update Lumia Phone... Too painful...

Finally, after waiting for about two weeks, I got to update my L800 to the latest firmware. There was a notice on my phone that there is an update and when I plugged it to my laptop, it update twice, and the second one had internet sharing on it as part of the option.
At first, I could not use the internet sharing, my mistake was, I personalized the user name and password for the wifi setting, which I thought shouldn't matter since you should be able to change it to whatever you like. I realized the mistake after about a week so I decided to do a phone reset, this time, keeping whatever settings I have for internet sharing and voila!
Now I'm able to connect my Wii and play Modern Warfare with others. Wohoo!
Globe telecoms, on the other hand, is the problematic one now. I'm from Mandaluyong, and I've been bugging their tech support about the very slow mobile internet connection I have in my area. I'm also experiencing the same problem in Makati and Batangas. Anyway, that issue has yet to be resolved.
I'm just glad I got the tethering to work.
