Updated my iPod Touch and now it won't turn on.
I updated my iPod Touch and it wiped everything off of it. I let it charge overnight and now it's powered off and will not reboot and it isn't detected by iTunes. Sleep/Home button restart not working nor is recovery mode. Any thoughts? Driving me nuts, no prior issues or mistreatment.
You can see if DFU mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore it.

HT4623 I just updated my ipod touch and now it won't turn on
I updated it then turned it on, it turned off so i turned it on again and put it on my dock to charge, now it has a navy blue/almost black screen with the apple logo. I have tried pushing the lock screen and home screen button but it isn't working. I have tried turning it off while pushing the HOME and LOCK button but whenever i do that it just turns back to the logo and then once it went to a blue screen with purple gradient. WHAT IS HAPPENING!
Restore

Open iTunes on your computer.
Press and hold down the Home button First then connect the cable to the computer.
Release Home button when connect to itunes appears on device.
iTunes will prompt a message that says, iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK.
You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore.
Wait for the full restoration process to complete, Set up device “as new”.

I was updating my itouch that I got in September to the IOS 5 and everything went fine until the end of the update when it was creating a new back-up of the information on the itouch. When I saw that it didn't work and it told me to restore the previous bakc-up I tried that, but nothing happened. Itunes was doing a lot of work but my ipod touch didn't show that anything was happening. My ipod touch wants me to go back through the set up and when it gets to the part where you can restore a previous back-up I tell it to do that. The problem then is that it tells you to connect it to itunes and I do but the itouch doesn't seem to realize that it is plugged into itunes. Then I try to restore the old back-up form itunes and it immeadiately pops up saying htat it can't because of error: ipod (-50).

My ipod touch needed to be updated so I did and now it won't turn on all it does is show the itunes icon and says toconnect it to itunes so I did and let it be updated and now it wont turn on and I tried resetting but nothing changed.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I accidentally changed a setting on my ipod touch and now it won't change back. I have had my ipod for more than two years and i dont know what to do. If i go to the apple store, would they fix it, or would i need to get a new one? If it could be fixed, how much would it cost?
If it is still under warranty you can call the 800 number to apple and enter the serial number and it will tell you if it is under warranty or not if not its like $30 basically for them to help or something like that it said today when i called...
Or take it to a genius bar if you have one near?
Or further explain what setting you are needing fixed back and im sure someone here can help you for free! -

I updated my ipod touch and now I can't open any of my downloaded apps, what would happen if I reset it to factory settings?
Try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck try downloading and installing a free app from the app store. This has resolved the issue for many users.

I tried to update my ipod touch and now I lost everything- music and apps. My music is backed up on an external drive, but not my apps. How can I restore my apps (some were purchased, some were free)?
If you remember what they are, you can download them again (you will not be charged).
You might wish to sync everything in the future. It makes it a snap to recover when necessary. -

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes Installed on your computer ( v 11.1)

As mentioned - I was trying to set up an iPod Touch, and it kept telling me "open iTunes," so it dawned on me that I probably needed to update it. So I updated it, and now it just doesn't open (it bounces once, and that's it).
For added info:
I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
Technically I keep all my music on an external hard drive, but I don't think anything is corrupted (because it was working fine just before I updated it).

Try resetting your System Management Controller or SMC then launch iTunes after processing these steps. If the issue persists, try downloading a fresh copy of iTunes by accessing the second link below.

I tried to update my sons iPad now it won't turn on or off it shows a cable and iTunes symbol tried holding down sleep button & screen button but no luck does this mean it's Broken I've seen posts saying their iPad died after doing updates.
It's not broken, it just means that the iPad has gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
You will need to connect the iPad, via its cable, to a computer's iTunes (you will need an up-to-date version of iTunes installed on the computer), and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync the content to it. -
I updated my iPod Touch, and now the App Store won't stop crashing?
I just got a new update for my iPod touch. I had to delete a few apps to make space. Then, I proceeded downloading. I have the 4th generation and my iPod is about 6 months old (I had to get another one from my warranty because my other one got broken) Now, whenever I click on the App Store, it starts to load, and then it crashes. What do I do?
You might try clearing all the apps out of the recently used apps menu, or doing a two-finger reset (home and lock buttons until you see the Apple logo on the screen). I've seen similar posts that were resolved by doing that, but it hasn't worked for me. If you figure it out, I'd definitely be interested.

So I was in the bathroom, cleaning my iPod case, and I accidentally dropped my unprotected iPod Touch from about two or three feet up.
I picked it up and tried to turn it on, but it would not work.
I freaked out and went to my charger in my room and connected my iPod to it, and soon the Apple logo came on and it turned on.
I was relieved, but the time was set to the wrong time, so I set the time to the right one, and took the charger out.
As soon as I pulled the connecting cable thing out, my ipod went black and wouldn't turn on again.
It's not charging either, as the symbol on the battery up in the upper right corner doesn't have the lightning symbol, but the symbol that looks like the part of something that uses electricity that you plug into the concent (or whatever that is called)
And when I connect it to the computer, the apple logo comes on, then goes black, then comes on and keeps on doing that, and it will not show on iTunes.
I have tried pressing the home and off buttons for 10 seconds to reset it, and turned it on and off... but my iPod just will not charge OR turn on without being connected to the charger.
Are there any more things I could try, or will I have to go to Apple and get it fixed??I would not waste any more time. If a reset did not fix it, and given what you describe, it sure sounds like a hardware issue.
The bad news is that accidental damage is not covered under warranty, so you may have to pay for an out of warranty exchange.
Do you have a recent backup to restore from if you end up with a refurbished exchange unit? If not, ask the Apple folks to try and recover and transfer what is on there now at least, before you surrender the damaged one to them. -
i just updated my ipod and now all of my songs are gone. how do i get them back?
You can get iTunes purchases back by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other items you need to get them from whee yuo got them the first time.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced mediai like apps and music. If those ore not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you performed the update they are lost.
