Updated on 20th Jan and now applications do not launch!!!! Help please...?

OK folks- I have been reliably informed that the update last week which included iTunes and QT updates is a bit of a stinker.
Sure enough- iTunes receipts confuse the Disk Utility and now I cannot verify unless I move the older ones out of the folder.
And a lot of my applications just plain refuse to launch. They bounce in the dock and then just do nothing. No message- no nothing!
Sadly I really really need to access JAlbums as a matter of serious urgency: I have a slide show to present in less than 12 hours and I still have to make it!
Reading through threads here I note that folk are warning to NOT update but hey- it is too late for me. And others are suggesting going back down a version of QT to correct this.
Can someone tell me how to downgrade the QT version or how to uninstall the recent upgrade without resorting to reformatting as I cannot get hold of my disks to do this until it is too late (UK time is now 22:30 and they are at work...)?

Well it DID fix the problem with JAlbum.
So note to all who come after me- QT is definately the problem if previously working applications will not launch.
Downgrade by reinstalling an earlier version as I did (and I have not yet bothered going back up to 7.0.3 which, I assume, I had before) and make life easier for yourself.
That is- if like me- you are on OS10.3.9!

Try deleting all your music by going into settings>general>usage>music. Then re-download them from iTunes by going in to iTunes on your iPhone>more>purchased>music.

same here anthoneyc, upgraded my iphone 4 and ipad2 to ios5 using my friends laptop, went home, then upgraded my itunes to 10.5, after which i synced my iphone it worked fine, then connected the ipad2, it just froze on stage 2. contacted apple support and told them that i managed to sync my iphone but not the ipad. i was told to :
1. uninstall itunes using their recommended steps. did that, still have the same problem.
2. i was told to wait for max of 3 hours, stupidly i did that. still froze at step2.
3. i was told to try to sync it on a different computer. did that as well, but still having the same problems.
i then phoned the nearest apple store, told me to restore the ipad using itunes. did that and the whole f thing just froze, now i can't even use the ipad. i was then told to book it in for inspection and hope that they find a fix, or they will have to replace the unit.

In your profile you say 3GS. In your thread and the title, you say iPhone 3G. Which is it? When you try to activate the phone, what kind of error message do you see? Is the phone jailbroken, or has it been hacked to use on an non-supported network?

Reset the device, restart the device, try downloading any other app.
All of these are basic steps that could have been found by a simple search of the forums as a resolution for the issue.

Then you are running an iPhoto version that needs updating or upgrading for compatibility with MAvericks.

    1.    First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
    2.    If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings).You should also try restarting your router.

Just upgraded Photoshop and now it will not launch.

The rule of thumb I follow says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open. I have seen the scratch file exceed 300 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS. I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.
The scratch often exceeds 300 GB when working with very large pano shot, for instance; and in one extreme case I've seen it grow to over 800 GB.

Updated iTunes to 9.2, now application won't launch - Error #13005

Help! I just updated my itunes to 9.2 and now it won't launch. An error window comes up and tells me it's due to an unknown error # 13005? I tried re-installing it to fix it but it still won't. Please help. I'm on the white 13' Macbook, running OS X 10.6.4. I have my itunes library in my external HD. Dying to get this fixed any help would be appreciated.

try these user tips:
try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

I found that the TSLicense plugin was causing the problem.
From the log:
PlugIn Path: /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense
PlugIn Identifier: net.telestream.license
This pIugin is installed with the Flip4Mac Windows Media Components. I solved the problem by uninstalling the WM Components via the uninstaller at /Applications/Flip4Mac/Flip4Mac WMV Uninstaller.pkg, after which iTunes opens successfully.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I did the same thing. Very frustutating. Open FB through Safari, desktop version. Go to photos, click upload. It will tell you it's not supported etc but it will give you the option of adding the mobile FB app. I clicked on it just to see and it's the old version so it worked! I'm back in business with the old compatible app for 3G
