Updated packages on Snow Leopard

I recently update my iMac 3.06 GHz IC2D Snow Leopard 10.6 to 10.6.2.
For some compatibility problem with Adobe CS3, I should re-format the HD without "Case sensitive".
For making a Clean install and not to have to download again Mac OS X Update Combined 10.6.2 (up to 500MB !) I would like to use the package already downloaded.
On previous version like Tiger, package s was keep in Packages folder. In Snow Leopard, I can't find it.
Any suggestion ?

really?? I've heard many times that a number of adobe apps DO NOT work on case sensitive formatted drives. you might want to double-check this before reinstalling.

downloaded update packages are not kept in snow leopard if you do it via software update. if you want to keep it download it by hand from the apple website.

  • APple MBP v1.3 Update after a Snow Leopard 10.6.4 reinstall

Is the Apple MBP v1.3 update part of SNow Leopard 10.6.4 Combo Update and if not how do I go about installing Apple MBP v1.3 update after I have already installed snow leopard Combo Update from 10.6.3?
From the APple Website the v1.3 update will only install if you have 10.6.3 Snow Leopard and might become an issue if trying to install it after 10.6.4 Combo Update has been installed.
    So my question is:
Is the Apple MBP v1.3 Update part of the 10.6.4 Snow Leopard Combo update?
    Thanks

Run Software Update. If it doesn't list Apple MBP v1.3 Update as an available update then you don't need it.

  • Huge memory leak in java jvm after update 2 for Snow leopard

Since I updated to Java Update 2 for Snow Leopard my JVM suddenly grows massive (10GB+ real memory - -Xmx=3500m) consuming all memory and rendering my iMac unusable. This does not happen predictably but does happen several times a day now requiring I power off and on again.
I had been living happily with update 1 with no such problem.
I need to either go back to update 1 (should have it on Time Machine) or find a solution for this problem.

Our application is a j2ee-based commercial application facing to specified customers, having about 120 access request an hour.
We ' re doing stress test on the test server. The strange memory leak occurs at 1:20 am this morning while we're out of company , and no job was scheduled to run at that time. So I have the tendency to image that there is something inside oc4j had occured.
I have used OptimizeIt to monitor the heap status. However , as the memory leak problem occurs very occasionally ,and that tool deadly slows our server, we are currently using no profiling tools.

  • TS1394 Software Update NOT WORKING (Snow Leopard)

Software Update NOT WORKING (Snow Leopard)
Hi, I am currently using Snow Leopard 10.6 on my iMac. I opened iTunes and was told there was an update available so I clicked the button to download it. This obviously opened up the 'download' screen with blue bar. The blue bar does not move and the message comes up that the download failed. I have tried troubleshooting, but the message I get is that I am not connected to the internet - which I am.
    Please help.

Check your iTunes version, it's reporting v10.6.3 here on 10.6.8 and no updates required.
You should be able to download it from here

  • Any update for safari snow leopard 10.6.8 ?

safari need to be updated in the version of 10.6.8. where miliions of users still use this version of osx believing this version is the best yet.
In the name of millions of Apple's customers we ask sarafi to be updated.

    H Adam ..
Apple will never update Safari on OS X v10.6.8  >    Apple Kills Snow Leopard: OS X 10.6 No Longer Receives Security Updates
OS X Snow Leopard is very outdated OS X. It cannot meet today's necessary security requirements.
Unless you use Rosetta for PowerPC apps, your Mac may be able to upgrade to v10.10 Yosemite.
Read here >  Apple - OS X Yosemite - How to Upgrade
    That would install Safari 8.

  • I have a 2007 MacBook 2GHz intel core 2 duo and i want to update to either snow leopard or lion what can ido if i have 10.4 already.

I have a 2007 MacBook 2GHz intel core 2 duo and i want to update to either snow leopard or lion what can ido if i have 10.4 already. please help

You can upgrade from 10.4 straight to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6. See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc.... And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/   I recently upgraded an older MacBook (model 1,1) straight from 10.4 to 10.6.
Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • Setting the Software Update Server on Snow Leopard, Leopard and Tiger

I have made an app that will set the Software Update Server on Snow Leopard, Leopard or Tiger. It will set the Software Update Server by checking the Server's version to see if it is compatible with your OS version. If you try to use a Leopard (no Snow Leopard Hack (See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10297359#10297359)) or Tiger Server with Snow Leopard it will say it is not compatible. If it is it will set it. If you are trying to use a Tiger Server with Leopard it will set it but you will only get Tiger updates.
The app is beta, if you find any problems or have any comments please reply.
    Download: http://iwczone.co.uk/projects/iSetSU/

You might want to look into throwing Software Update Enabler onto your clients.
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18059
Basically, it's just a little app that points the client in the direction of the Software Update Server - you just enter the IP of the server into the config field. With a standalone server I don't think you can get the clients to see the server without something showing them the way.
It's really very tiny and simple - I believe it just edits a com.apple.softwareupdate.plist or some such, but it made life a lot easier for us in our environment.
    Hope that helps.

  • When is Apple coming with an update to fix Snow Leopard???

I can't tell you how LONG I've waited to upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger! I bought it THE DAY it came out, manually backed up everything I had to my External Drives (OVER 6TB worth of data!) and to my surprise installing Snow Leopard was just like installing a new App. I popped in the CD, and bam! In like 45 Minutes I was up and running and all my data is UNTOUCHED! WOW! This is unheard of in the HISTORY of Operating Systems!
The computer restarts, and first thing I do is open up Safari. VERY Fast Internet, by the way! WAY faster than before! But! Not ONLY does it NOT respond at times, but man! It BOGS DOWN THE WHOLE SYSTEM! I'm sitting here in amazement! I can't do JACK for like 15 minutes! It actually reminded me of WinCRAP! Then! Finder stops responding and when I try to re-open it, I get an error message! So I have to restart the Mac.
This is ALL in the FIRST DAY which was almost 2 weeks ago!
    Fast forward to now:
Is it me, or is Snow Leopard just a LOT SLOWER than Tiger or Leopard?! Programs don't start up as quickly. Safari doesn't crash anymore but it just doesn't respond at times and I have to force quit! It's a CONSTANT on-going thing, here with Safari! Firefox is NO different!
I have been force quitting apps like 50 TIMES A DAY!
I am REALLY confused here! This is APPLE! NOT WinCRAP! This should NOT be happening!!!
When are they gonna release the next update to get SL running the way it's SUPPOSED to be running.
I'm frustrated here, but patient, too, because, well, it's Apple and for some reason I have a VERY HIGH tolerance level to Apple. I have NO patience with Windows by contrast. NONE! I get ONE ISSUE and I want to throw the god **** PC out the window! LITERALLY!
But with Apple, I feel like I KNOW that they are listening and that they will be fixed, but I'm getting REALLY tired of force quitting non-responding apps and the slower performance.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Sina

And I can't just uninstall ALL my plugins. They set the foundation for all the music I create. I have NEVER had ANY issues prior SL.
I still have and use 4 PowerPC G5's because of all the work I do and they are all linked through Fibre Channel. I kept them as backup units as well as general use and since I got my Mac Pro, they are now functioning as the main servers to my network. And because I can access them with my Mac Pro, I can still manually backup my files from my Mac Pro into one of the G5's or DIRECTLY to the RAID System which the G5's are linked to.
The thing I hate about ProTools is that it doesn't support RAID for some stupid, ignorant reason which is why I have to manually back up my ProTools Files on the RAID System. With Logic I don't have these limitations and I actually use the RAID system to access my Logic Project files once their backed up to the RAID.
And here's the thing: When I upgraded one of my G5's from Panther to Tiger back in 2005, I had NO problems whatsoever.
I bought the Mac Pro to prepare for the upcoming software and OS. I didn't upgrade to Leopard because I didn't feel the need to. My Mac Pro came with Tiger and I was really happy with the way it worked and how everything was flawless. And when SL was announced I was VERY eager to upgrade because of all features I knew I could use: The Updated Finder, a TRUE 64-Bit platform, Expose and Spaces which blew my mind in SL and everyone talked about Speed and Memory and how everything is faster in SL. That made me REALLY eager to upgrade since the plugins I use could really benefit from these upgrades and
And I didn't really need Time Machine because I was used to MANUALLY backing up all my files on the RAID system. I have almost 16TB of storage capacity on the RAID configuration and I use one of the internal drives for Sample Libraries, the other is used for Projects, the System Drive with the OS of course, and the last one is used as an extension to the System Drive for general things: GarageBand, Photo's, Documents, iTunes, Downloads, etc.
Now whenever I fix these issues I'm having with SL. I'll start using Time Machine for my general stuff and ProTools files and if it's compatible with RAID, this is gonna be a REAL time saver!

  • I have a MacBook that is running 10.5.8 and I cannot update it to Snow leopard

I have a MacBook that is running 10.5.8 and meets the tech specs for Snow Lepoard.  I am attempting to upgrade to SL using a "Mac OS X Install DVD version 10.6.3".  However, when attempting to run the installer from the disc I recieve an error stating "This Mac cannot be upgraded to this version of OS X."  No further information is given nor are there any buttons or clicks to recieve additional info.  I receive the same error whether I'm running the installer when the Mac is already running or when holding down the C key as the computer starts up.
Does anyone know why this issue is occurring or how to resolve it?
    Thanks

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
