Updated pages to version 5.1
I updated pages to version 5.1 on my Mac, but the old version is still running. I cannot open documents which I made on my Ipad. Please advice how I can make the new version active on my Mac.
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Random apple ID keeps appearing when trying update pages to version 5.0.1
Every time i try to update pages to the newest version it asks me for my password, which is fine except for the fact that it has some random apple iD that i have never used before and never even seen. it comes up as [email protected], and i dont have a password for that account. i have never even entered that iD to any of my devices. i have never seen it! i need to change my ID but there is no way to change i, unless anyone out there would know.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test. -
I just updated the software in Pages to 5.1 on my iMac OS (Mavericks) but the Pages Application is giving me an error saying that I cannot open a document recently updated until I perform a software update!
When I am in Pages and to go About Pages it still shows Pages 4.3 (1098)You have 2 Pages on your Mac.

Update pages disc version through app store
i have installed iwork apps through the disc. (I have been using these apps before App store went live)
But App store does not recognize these apps, and I have to pay to upgrade to new version.
What can I do to be able to ugrade?Try deleting the cookies associated with the App Store...
Quit the App Store.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Try the App Store. -
I am stumped - I am trying to open a recent Pages file (created with a newer software that I thought was correctly installed recently) but error message says that I need a "newer version" of Pages. Updated Pages today - created a document. Went back few hours later to send it as email attachment - got a message saying Pages needs to be updated to open. Went to Mac app page and it said it was updated. Document won't open - what do I do???? Keeps saying to upgrade but it is upgraded - ARGH!
Here is a possible solution.
You should still have Pages 4.3, the old version, on your computer in Applications>iWork09. If you have the old Pages 4.3 running when you open the file, Pages 4.3 will warn you that you need to update because the new Pages uses a different file format. You can open the file in two ways.
Quit Pages 4.3, then open the file.
Right-click the file and choose to open the file in Pages 5.0.

Pages '09 version 4.2 (1008) won't update.
I have Pages '09 version 4.2 (1008) that I bought as an add-on through the Apple Store on my iMac, not the App Store. App store has update but won't work, bc there is no record of purchase. How do I update apps not bought on App Store? If it was not bought on App Store, why are there updates available THROUGH App Store? I tried Software Update and pulls up App Store.
Also had a problem with pre-installed iPhoto and iMovie not updating for the same reason, so Apple support gave me download codes to "purchase" it through App Store. Really dumb. Why do they have the option to add on applications like Pages when you order a computer online, if it can't be updated? I know iMovie and iPhoto come stock, so all the more reason it should just work.What do you mean it can't be updated? What is not happening. I bought the iWork dvd and now it will update through the Mac AppStore.

I have the original ipad (OS 5.1.1) using pages 1.7.2 and backing up to icloud. If I open up one of the docs from icloud, I can no longer open it on my ipad. Looks like the pages version gets updated to a version that is incompatible with my ipad. Is there anyway stopping icloud from changing the version and is there a way to recover the old version of the document on my ipad?

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard. -
my Itunes account tells me i need to update it to version 10.6.1, but when I click download and the computer (mac 2007) goes to the "checking for softwares" page it doesn't find the update? Help me please, what do I do?

I get a message that I have 2 updates available. I updated OS X for Mountain Lion to the latest version, but I can't update my iPhoto app. I get the following message:
iPhoto can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.8.2 or later is required. You can update OS X from the Updates page of the App Store.
I've tried updating from the store, from the app, from Apple....anybody else having a problem with this?I think that perhaps the store is under quite a large load at the moment.

I used the combo updater, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581, that works OK. Update iPhoto after using the combo updater. -

Iphoto can’t be unstalled on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.8.2 or later is required. You can update OS X from the Updates page of the App Store. Why is this happening I have a OS X 10.8.1 (12B19) already installed but he update will not install, as a matter of a fact the update does not even come up in teh appstore. I recently purchased the MacBookPro in May 2012, and updated with the new OS X came out. I am new to MAC but enjoying it. What do I need ot do. Please do not say go back to the App Store.Just bought a MacBook Pro 13" Retina for my wife (yesterday). Having the same issue, iPhoto wont install, says i need 8.2. But I cant update to that version. Tried the App Store, but it says this computer is not compatible with that OS (really). Tried the link above, and it wont install becauase it says there is not enough room on the harddrive. I love Apple products, but the last month everything is buggy. This is kind of the last straw for me. Please help.

updated pages on 11/25 but it in application it is saying there is an new version for $19.99. Is this a different version or the same?
Launch Pages.
From the Pages menu bar click Pages > About Pages
The latest version available is 5.0.1
If it's 5.0.1, your currently installed copy of Pages is up to date. -
After I updated the iOS version on 11/23/13, I can not access anymore my Pages documents. It says it's updating. How long would this take to update?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

I desperately would like to update Firefox to version 10 from version 9 but each time I try, I am stuck with FF10 checking addons for compatability and the Welcome page opening every time I start the browser. I continue to have to revert to version 9 to resolve this issue.Sorry to be a while getting back! Tried all of that with no sucess so this AM, bit the bullet and deleted the FF folder from programs and downloaded and installed FF 10.01. Still was plagued with the same problem. Went into the appdata folder and there were two sessionstore.js files. Deleted them both, restarted the browser and no compatibility check for add-ons was done at start up and the extra tab for Welcome to FF was no longer opening Everything seems to be working as it should and I did not loose any of my settings.. Thank you for trying to help and I hope my solution helps anyone else who might experience this in the future. Here's hoping the next update goes smoother!

I have a problem with an update page on my website
Here's how it work
values are defualted in from the advert table - this works fine
I should then be able to change the fields and click on the update button
This works fine but ONLY when the O_year field is populated.
There doesn't seem to be anything special about the O_year field
I thought spry text validation would of been causing the issues, but I removed them and have the same problem.
For some reason the POST_MMupdate value is not being set to 'form4', which it is doing if O_year is set.
Please can someone have a look at this, code,

Removing I investigated spry a little more, in the end I settled for removing spry altogether,
Maybe it was because the text field in a $GET (for the default) AND a $PUT (for the update)
