'updated projects' are gone.

During the update to Final Cut Pro 10.1, FCP decided to make one library of my entire external hard drive. My projects were in an Updated Projects event, but now they are gone.
I can see them in the .fcpbundle on the external hard drive in the Updated Projects folder, but I don't find the way to get them back in the library. How can I do that?
I tried 'import' and 'update projects and events', but both couldn't find any projects.

I have an Old Final Cut Projects and Events folder on a back-up drive somewhere.

Upgraded to '09 now ALL my projects are gone HELP - PANIC!

I just upgraded to 09 and now all my projects are gone??? I have time machine running but when I click on that in the projects directory nothing shows up. I think they are all on my HD somewhere but how do i get them BACK into Imovie? It would help if I knew what the file extension is for imovie projects but even if I find them - how do I get them showing up in 09?

In my case, my projects are in: "home/movies/imovie projects/", try a search in 'Spotlight' type: 'imovie projects.localized', that will find exactly where your projects are located.

After update to 10.1 most projects are gone

I just updated from FCP X to FCP 10.1
During the update it wanted to update all my projects and events to libraries. I did get a note about some missing files that may need to be relinked, but that's it.
However after the update, only one project made it to the Updated Projects folder. All the media (or events) are there, but the projects are not.
I didn't let the upgrade delete the old files, they are still there. Is there a way to redo the whole operation ?
How do I fix this ?

One of the drives is the Mac system disk. The other (archive) is a USB disk formatted as Mac OS expanded (translated from Finnish).

FCP was crashing, fixed it, but now my old projects are gone!

Okay, this is a weird and nasty one. I bought a used G5 and when I tried to change the user name to my own, I ended up adding one instead of replacing the current one. Both had admin privileges, etc. All programs worked exactly the same on both users with the exception of FCP. It only opened for the original user. However, I didn't use FCP right away. Actually, it was several in months in which case I added all kinds of files, etc. to my user. When I finally got around to using FCP, I realized I had a problem. Every time I tried to open it, the program would close immediately after loading. So I switched over to the other user and discovered that it worked fine there. So, I started using the program, cut several projects on it, but got tired of having to switch back and forth between users to access my other files, etc. I tried FCP Rescue, but it didn't work. I found a thread that said to drag the FCP user prefs out onto the desktop and restart FCP. So I did that on my user pane and it worked. It created new user prefs and opened no problem. Then I did a dumb thing and deleted the user ( I kept it in the Deleted User File, though). Now all of the projects that were in the other user pane are, well, they're not gone, but they don't come up as projects. I can open them in the canvas, but I can't get them to load as projects. So now I can't go into any of those projects to edit them. Is there something I can do to open them in the timeline? Thanks!

Wow. Thanks Brian. It's funny. Before I read your post I did exactly what you suggested. I just mounted the other user's .dmg and dragged everything I wanted onto my desktop and now I'm right as rain. All the projects are there. There's a little clean up necessary now, but that's okay. I tried to search the forums and such for this answer, but I never found it. Perhaps I was using the wrong keywords. Okay, so I don't want this to become a personal tutorial so you don't have to answer this if you really don't want to. I dragged the files onto the desktop, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by dragging the files into a folder on the boot volume. I have two internal HD's on my computer. One is dedicated to OS's and the other is strictly for FCP projects. This is the drive I save all media to. I also have a 500 gig external HD that I've partitioned to backup my main drive, store my iTunes music on and saved extra space for FCP media if necessary. I noticed someone posted a reply to my first post before yours that asked if I'd backed up the files to another drive. I understand this. I'm not completely stupid. But I am new to FCP and it can get a bit confusing about which files to save where. Is there a difference between backing up media files as opposed to project files? Media meaning a/v. Thanks Brian!

FCP X crashed, now all my projects are gone.

So I was working on a project and FCP X crashed (as it usually does).
When I reopened it, many of the clips I had on the timeline were blacked out, with a red line on the bottom half of the clip.
Same for my audio files.
It won't let me reveal them in the finder, says they can't be revealed.
It won't let me relink them.
FCP deleted all of my project files that were stored on my computer hard drive and now when I click on different events in that viewer, nothing happens. I can click on whatever event, but it won't show the subsequent files to the right.
Does anyone have any idea what could have possibly gone wrong or how to help?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

This happened to someone else the other day. The solution was to open the package contents of corrupted library.fcpbundle file from Finder, copy original media to a location outside of the library bundle, then open the latest backup file of the project in FCPX 10.1 and relink the media from the new location you just copied all the media to.

Running Aperture on 10.4.11 and all of my projects are gone

As stated above, all of my projects no longer appear in the inspector, but they still are on the external hard drive where they belong. Trying to figure out what happened and what I need to do to get Aperture to see them again. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

When i open premier pro my recent projects are gone...how can i recover them?

I have not been on premier in about a week after opening Premier pro the project I was working on is no longer showing

what happens if I just close it in premier and don't save it?
If it was never saved, it's gone forever. If it was saved at some point, then only the changes since that save will be gone.
Premiere Pro will not allow you to close the program without asking you to save.

Help needed after java update- files are gone...:(

So I just did an update on my macbook pro for java and iweb and canon printer, restarted and now my most important folder is just gone from the finder window?? Can it really be true? I´m completely desperate- it´s 6 months work- no backup...

Projects are lost

So I have this new computer.Whenever I log in all my projects are gone.I cant even make new ones.When I log in another computer,the projects are there.It seems like the problem is only on this new computer.Can someone please help me?

If you are facing this problem with browser application then can you please do following on your new computer ?
                1) Open story in browser, as you stated earlier it will automatically log you in
                2) Now log out
                3) Clear browser's cache and cookies
                4) Open story once again and login now.

My movies are gone!

I've created several movies over the last few months, and I was just in the middle of making one yesterday. I didn't finish it, so closed iMovie, and closed my laptop. Now it's the next morning, and all of my projects are gone! The events are still there, but all the work I did for those projects is missing. There's only a "My first project" project, and it's blank.
Can anyone help?

I can only guess at this, but I have found that all versions of imovie are sensitive to permissions. You might want to try this (and it will not hurt anything-don't worry)
*Quit iMovie.*
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. _Empty the trash and run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder._

I have obsolete computers attached to my appleid when I try to add the new computers to my itunes store and purchases to keep all data updated and together....and not have to repurchase. I had a fire...thus, old computers are gone and I cannot unauthoriz

I have obsolete computers and devices attached to my appleid. I cannot deauthorize them as they are gone!!! (Had a fire and had to replace all tech systems) Because I spent alot of monies on my purchases, it would be nice to be able to combine all these items and not have to repurchase them. How can I update the current number of computers and correct ipods, ipads and iphones together; and get rid of all old computers and ipods, iphones that are authorized under the appleid I have always used. I have asked this question before, but received no support or answers. I do have icloud and mobileme, but cant sychonize them either.
I am also seriously considering purchasing a mac, and no longer using the windows pc\s as too many tech difficulties arise when I tackle complicated projects regarding DVD and moving making. However, I still require pc software for my work. Will my current backup network system convert easily? Can it be converted? Will I require a tech and if so, how much will this cost? I have recently invested a large sum into creating a network and backup system that has yet to be working as it should. Unfortuneately it has left me with very little left to try to convert to the mac systems entirely. Please answer my questions in a language that I can understand.....as this problem is affecting my household, organization and office techniques. Would like to take care of this problem once and for all. Mac seems to work with my creative desires much better. Will await your response.....Thank you.

Pictures are gone after iOS 8 update

After the iOS 8 update, I went to my picture gallery and all but 43 of my pictures are gone. I've gone to Photos --> Collections and still, only those 43 images are there. Where did my pictures go and how do I get them back?

You should be storing everything on your computer. Just sync them to the iPhone.
Did you update without making sure that you had imported everything to your computer?

Newly installed GB 11 - LOOPS ARE GONE and won't download updates

i just installed GB 11 and tried to open files. virtually all my loops are grayed out. "The software instrument or loop is not currently installed on your computer - would you like to install the complete set of loops on your computer?" i click "Download Now". it tells me to check software update but nothing shows up in soft. update. i've tried restarting and opening other files but my loops are gone.
did i just lose all my loops?

Right on, Pbassjams. my sentiments exactly! that's the same response they told me at the apple store. and you go home and load the disc and say to yourself: "What the **** are they talking about? there are no loop options". i did find out however that you can go into your HD library folder - then open Audio folder and then you'll see apple loops. you can actually select all the loops in there and manually DRAG and DROP them into your loops section in GB. this may solve the problem or you could have a new annoying problem. you'll have each loop listed twice. if that's the case, here's what another apple user wrote in discussions:
This sounds like a problem with several generations of GB content mixed in your loops folder.
Apple at one point in time changed the loops from .aif to .caf. So you definitively need only one version of each loop, it'll save you a lot of disk space to delete the duplicates. So I would proceed like this:
• Clean up your loops in the Finder by deleting the .aif versions of loops that you also have as .caf. (Sort the folder by kind, that should separate them.)
• Delete the Loops Index folder completely.
• Start up GB, it'll tell you you have no loops.
• Drag your purged Loops folder into the Loop Browser window, GB will now create a new Loops index that will only contain the ones that are actually in that folder.
