Updated Reader X now OpenFile extension won't open protected pdf's

A week ago I was able to open some pdf's that are protected with the OpenFile extension.  I updated Reader X and Acrobat Professional X the other day now I get an error message when trying to open those files.
"There was an error contacting the server or the server's response could not be decoded.  Pelase check your Internet Connecton".
I've tried everything I can think of, including re installing the OpenFile extension and I continue to get this error.  Any ideas on what I can do to fix this.  Thanks.

  • Reader 10.0.1 still won't open DFS PDFs

I was trying to create an AIP for distributing Reader X to our workstations, but during my testing I somehow messed up my own workstation.  I got the MSI working through GPO, but whenever I try to re-install Reader X on my machine, even though it says version 10.0.1, I get the "Access Denied" when opening files stored on our network shares.
I have completely removed Reader 9 and X and Acrobat 9 that I had installed.  They no longer show as installed in my list of programs, and their installation folders were removed.  I tried reinstalling 9.4 and upgrading to X over that, with no luck.  I also tried to clean up using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and CCleaner, to no avail.
I know I could simply disabled the Protected mode to get my PDFs working again, but I don't want to have to do that should it prove to be an effective security tool (plus I want to avoid being completely different than my end users).  Any ideas on how I can clear this up?

    Hi,
Please try opening PDF file at DFS shared path using
    1) right click on PDF -> Open with Adobe Reader
    2) Launch Reader and using file -> open browse to the shared path and open the PDF file
    3) Double click on the PDF file
Is the issue being observed in all the 3 methods of opening.
Also when u launch Reader please observe in the process explorer, the path of the AcroRd32 exe process pair.(Take mouse over to the process. It will give the path)
    Thanks

  • Hello I went to wipe my 1st generation iPad and then tried to update the iOS now the iPad won't work at all any ideas what I can do?

Hello I went to wipe my 1st generation iPad and then tried to update the iOS now the iPad won't work at all any ideas what I can do?

You can't update the original iPad beyond iOS 5.1.1 so if you were already running that version, there was no reason to wipe the iPad to try to update.
Won't work at all, doesn't tell me the whole story. Does it power up but not respond to anything? Does it not power up at all? Some detailed information in context would really be helpful.
IF the device will not start up, try a reset. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.

In the middle of downloading an update for garage band and lost the connection, now the app won't open or finish the download.  Can I reinstall the app without losing my music?

The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.

  • Adober Reader suddenly won't open any PDF files (Mac)

I had an old version, I downloaded the latest one, upgraded to the newest, even tried taking that one out and downloading an older version. It doesn't matter which version I seem to have, it won't open any pdf files from the web.
I use a Mac, and Safari. It used to always load PDF files fine, one random place said I had to update it so I did and since then, lately it'd crash and close all Safari windows when loading a PDF or trying to copy something from a PDF. The smart Mac message I have says it could be related to an Adobe Plug in. However, now it won't even load PDF files at all, it always goes to a white page. Nothing happens.
What do I do?? I can't even save the PDF's as individual files and view then in Preview as an alternative option. It's a link online and normally would work. What happened??
    HELP!
    I have a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8
I've always used Safari, it's Version 5.0.5 (5533.21.1 if that means anything).
Acrobat Reader, currently an old version 9.4.0 download. BUT, I had also the 10.0.1 version which also doesn't work. When I had that 10.0.1 version and checked for updates, there was an update (.3 I think?) and I did that and that also doesn't work!
Why did it suddenly stop working?
What can I do to fix it ASAP?
Only with 9.4.0 version I can go to Help and "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" - I click that and the only box I can select is "Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin - View, fill-in and collaborate on Adobe PDFs within Safari"  - I click continue and it tells me there's "No missing components detected. Repairs are not needed." The only option is to click "OK".
With any newer version of Adobe Reader, under Help there is no option to "Repair Adobe Reader Installation". So... I can't even try that with a new version.
I am at a loss for solutions. Hope someone here can help! Thanks!

There are several things you can do. My first step would be to repair permissions. If that doesn't work log on as a different user. If all works properly then you have a corrupt preference file (most likely) or a corrupt user font installed in your user Library (less likely). If that doesn't work download Applejack. Have it repair the disk, remove all system caches and user caches. Then have it check all system and user preference files. Remove any preference files that are corrupt. Reboot and see if your system is working properly.

Solving MSVCR80 issue and Windows iTunes install issues.
If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

  • HT5137 I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

Personally, I would never use a debit card online, for security reasons.  If your card gets hacked its your money that is stolen.  At least with a credit card it is the card providers money that is stolen.
Anyway,  I would delete the app and re-install.  If you paid for the app in the first place you will be able to re-install free of charge.  Also, the app should allow the in-app purchase to happen again as it should recognise that you have already purchased it previously.
Finally, it might be that the 3G doesnt have as much ram as more recent models of iphone and you may have applications running in the background that are preventing the app to function with the in-app purchase unless you shut down any apps eating all you memory that are running in the background.  Shut-down these apps (and the simpson tap out app) by exiting to your home screen and double-tapping the home button to show what apps are running in the background.  press and hold any of the open apps until it starts shaking.  close all the apps down.  exit then re-launch the app.
    good luck.

I installed Mountain Lion and now Illustrator CS6 won't open. I get a -1712 message. Help?

Moving this discussion to the Illustrator forum.  What have you tried so far to resolve your difficulties?  Have you tried removing and reinstalling Illustrator?  If so did you receive an error message during the install process?

  • I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open.  Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files the error message is  could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized. "  Any help or are they corrupted

I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open.  Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files, the error message is  "could not be opened". The movie's file format isn't recognized. "  Any help or are they corrupted?

Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.

  • I transferred my apps from one Mac to a new one and now my Elements won't open Why?

I transferred my apps from one Mac to a new one and now my Elements won't open Why?

You can never, never transfer an installed copy of PSE. PSE is not a tidy package like most mac apps; the installer strews stuff all over your hard drive and neither you nor the migration assistant can ever hope to find all the necessary bits and pieces.
Now you have kind of a mess to clean up. First download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
It won't seem to do anything, but it's necessary in order for you to be able to successfully manually remove what did get transferred so that you can reinstall PSE.
Then go around and remove all the bits you can find, not only from applications but from your user>library>preferences and especially from hard drive>library>application support. Note that those are two different libraries.
Then you can reinstall PSE from scratch.
