  • Tried to install itunes update software and now error message coming up

I tried to install the itunes update today and now its not working.  error message 7 keeps coming up- I have tried to trouble shoot but still not working.  uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, still not working. HELP

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Updated iTunes and now iPhone not working and had to restore to old save

I plugged my phone in this weekend to sync with content on my PC and was prompted to update the iTunes software. I did this and then synced my iPhone. Worked ok for 24 hours, then suddenly the screen went in to what looked like max zoom, I couldn't get out of it as phone was locked. I connected to pc again and did restore to factory settings and then reload saved phone details, did this 3 times and still same problem. In the end I had to restore to a saved copy from the end of september, so lost any contact, calendar etc... updates....
Very frustated as this took my several hours and now need to work out what is missing. Any advice, thanks

You most likely had zoom on:
A simple double-tap with three fingers instantly zooms in and out 200% and you can double-tap and drag three fingers to dynamically adjust the magnification between 100% and 500%.

  • Just updated software and now epson printer no longer works

I'm frustrated.  I updated software ( as recommended by apple) and now my epson printer no longer is working. I've read through some threads about throwing the extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleUSBEthernetHost  away... and that is not working for me.  I cannot print. I have also followed the info on the apple site about deleting the printer and then readding it, all to no avail.  please help. thankyou.

Without knowing anything about the printer, version of OS X installed, or how the printer is connected it is difficult to help you out. When posting please post specifics.

When I connect it to my computer it tells me that the ipod is corrupted and needs to be restored to factory settings. When I click restore my ipod disappears from the LH screen and the update process stops almost immediately once I click restore. I have removed all ipod software from my computer and then reinstalled 7 and still no change....not really sure what I can do next or if is futile and time to purchase a new one???? Please Help!!

  • G5, updated software and now it won't start up past the grey apple screen

    Hello,
I'm in dyer need of help. I just purchased an old G5 from a friend and when I connected it the internet it said there were a few (7 or 8) updates available for the system. There was very minimal memory left on the system but I proceeded with the updates, it said the system was going to restart after the updates. The grey screen appeared with the apple logo and the circular loading graphic but right after that the screen went blank and now each time I try to start the computer up it does the same and shuts down after that screen displays.
Is there anything I can do?

I'm not able to do that without the proper install disc, am I correct?
    Correct.
Is it possible for me to use that or am I in the same boat without the proper install disc?
Correct, you need an Install Disc.
Or will it try to install on my iMac?
    Disconnect them to be sure.
Sooo, what is this Install Disc you're talking about? The iMac's Gray Disc? That won't work for the G5.
There's still a chance of repairing the HD, Your best bet is DiskWarrior.

  • Updated Software and now nothing works

I just recently done a software update to my Macbook Pro and when it had finished and I went to use the likes of Mozilla or Safari, they wouldnt work. Tried to use the system update again, it wouldn't work. So basically nothing will open at all. Anyone got any suggestions as to what I could do so it will work?

Did you restart your Mac after the installs, and repair permissions?
    Some general advice on updating:
It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious! In fact a second restart can be recommended.
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a week or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 4.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

    That is an incorrect assumption.

  • I recently updated software and now I get an error message -45054 when I try to pull up itunes. anyone know why

I thought about trying to correct this by reloading itunes, but I'm not sure what will happen to all my music. I'm getting this error message on my mac not my iphone.
    Thanks!

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
    ... and click OK.
Quit the QuickTime Player if you have it open. Restart the PC and try watching the videos in iTunes again. Do they play now?

  • Updated software and now everything is GONE!

I just updated my software to the latest version 3.1.2 or whatever it is, and whne everything was done downloading, every single song, movie, app, picture was gone from my ipod. EVERYTHING. I have searched the forums and haven't seen this topic so I am wondering if anyone has had this problem. I can get maybe 60% of my stuff from itunes, but some of this stuff, like my pictures and videos, I can't get back. Needless to say, and I furious and would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
    Thank you.

Maybe it will be for the next time your hardware fails.
Maybe next time you'll have a backup.
Did you expect some miracle here to undue the failures?
Being crass with folks trying to help doesn't help either.

Could be a proxy server issue.  Try this:
    Go into Network Preferences
Select either Airport or Ethernet as appropriate
From the list of locations, select Automatic
Make sure your status is Connected and you have an IP address
    Click on Advanced
    Go to the TCP/IP tab
Set Configure IPv4 to Using DHCP then click on Renew DHCP lease. After a few seconds you should get an IPv4 address appear.
    Set Configure IPv6 to Automatically.
    Go to the Proxies tab
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
    Unselect all other options
Click on OK, Apply etc to get out of Network Preferences
    Good luck

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.
