Updated software - No screen Display

Ipod 30g 5th Gen
I recently bought a new PC, updated my sofware to 7.11 . after installation I updated the Ipod softeware - Ever since then I have NO screen display, My ipod was not dropped , kicked or abused !!!
After following the usual steps as posted all over the website ( with no success ) I tried to reinstall my original software with no success ( somehow Itunes 6 recognises that there was 7 installed and will not load )
When I restore the ipod software the screen works fine during installation then goes blank after installation.
The sound , clicker etc all work - just no screen display
CAN ANYONE HELP ME BEFORE I KICK THE DOG !

I was able to locate a support article for the error you mentioned. The following steps may help you get your device back to working order:
iOS: Restore errors 4005, 4013, and 4014 - Apple Support
You may see one of these messages if the device unexpectedly disconnects during the update or restore or iTunes couldn't tell the device to go to the restore state.
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4005).
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4013).
The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4014).
Try these steps to resolve the issue:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Restart your computer.
Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
Restore using another USB cable.
Learn more about updating OS X.
Learn more about updating Windows.
Restore your device on another computer.
If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device,contact Apple for support.

Updated software recently - now my mac book displays a grey screen

I updated software on my mac book pro around a couple of hours back. I followed all the steps during the process. Now for the past two hours, my macbook pro shows a grey screen with two buttons for signing in as me or signing in as someone else- but these buttons are not clickable - in that, nothing happens when I click the buttons - How can I resolve this issue - I have been quite happy with the mac book otherwise

Specifically, this section outlines the first step that you will want to try:

Try a Safe Boot
If you're using Mac OS X 10.2 or later, you can start up your computer in Safe Mode, which includes an automatic disk check and repair. If you're using Mac OS X 10.1.5 or earlier, skip to the next section. A Safe Boot, which starts up your computer into Safe Mode, may allow you to start up your computer successfully using a reduced version of the system software. To do this, follow these steps:
Start up in Safe Mode.
After the system has fully started up, restart your computer again normally.
If the computer successfully restarts, you do not need to do any more troubleshooting. If the issue persists, try Disk Utility.

Since updating Iphone 4 the screen display is too large

Since updating my Iphone 4 the screen display is too large to fit on the screen. For example the green battery graphic is so large half of it takes up the full screen.
I pressed restore and restored the phone. I then restored my backup files and I still have the same problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore).

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Old documents that worked are no longer displayed correctly and new documents I make do not display images. All grey boxes. Worked fine before the update. Suggestions?

Could you please let me know what version of OS are you using.
Open Acrobat and go to "Edit > Preferences > Page Display" and check whether 'Show large images' option is checked.
Is this issue specific for one PDF?
If possible, please share the file with me via email so that I can also check at my end.
