Updated to 10.5.8 -- unsanity haxies WindowShade and FruitMenu stop working
Folks:
I know some people don't trust haxies, but these have worked for me through many OS X versions and they were operating in 10.5.6 just fine. I depend on these.
But I was seeing more and more GUI crashes recently and --in hope of fixing that problem-- I re-installed 10.5 and cycled thru S/W Update to bring the system up to date, to 10.5.8.
The vendor, unsanity, insists these haxies and the underlying APE support are completely 10.5.x compatible. I tried all the standard fixes, including deleting and re-installing them, everything looks installed and good, but ... no function from either.
Ideas?

They haven't been ported to SL; however, there are betas: http://www.unsanity.org/ and click on Weblog link->Betas, Twitter and ***->requires a Twitter account, which I don't have.

I was in the middle of updating to 7.0.3 and Itunes stopped working. Now my phone is stuck in limbo (apple logo with status bar under) My power button doesnt work (of course) How do I get it back to normal?
I have same issue. I click on the home button and Wake/sleep at the same time for 30 seconds or more and then the phone entered in Recovery mode. It is erasing my content now and installing the update. Let´s see how this ends. I have iCloud, iTunes match, and backups from previos versions, hope I can restore all my content.
Otherwise I´ll go to the Genius Bar to do a checkup.

It did not work the first time... The iPhone4 kept in limbo. Then I did disconnect as suggested above and tried again to enter in Recovery mode. This second time it works. And after restoring the iPhone4 with 7.0.3, it asked me if I want to recover from backup. I did recover from my latest back up and now it is syncing the content. -
My iPod 5 has recently updated to iOS 7.0.3. I have noticed something where my internet will only work for about 2-3 minutes and then stop working. It is not our internet, because all of our other appliances work completely fine. Any help?

I have tried most of this, except for a couople of things i currently cannot due. The apps that are acting up the most are YouTube an Vine. Facebook and Safari work fine. -
after i update the 10.10.2 OS X Yosemite my iPhoto stops working. In the warning that appears when I try to open the app says that happened a mistake because of this update. I reinstalled the app but doesn't work anyway. Please, HELP!
I already tried that but it doesn't work. Appears a warning saying: "See the developer to make sure that iPhoto works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install all available updates in the application and OS X."

Found my old phone and updated it and now my camera and flash stopped working. Worked fine in 7.1.1. Done everything from restoring to hard resets but nothing works.

I am still using OS X 10.6.8 but want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. I have 1 27" I-Mac 10.1 will my Word and Quicken still work?
Too bad they got it wrong, since there's two Quicken '07 for Mac versions, the original and the updated one named Lion Compatible Quicken Mac 2007. The former works only in Leopard and Snow Leopard whereas the latter works in Snow Leopard through Yosemite.
This is the latter one and they missed that it works in both Snow Leopard and Yosemite. -
[Fixed...] wpa_supplicant and netcfg stopped working since updates
Hello, I am new to the forums and have run into a problem with wpa_supplicant and netcfg (though I believe the problem resides with wpa_supplicant).
A bit about me - This is my first "intermediate" linux distro (I tried fedora back when it was version 6 but didn't get terribly far with it). I have mostly been using Ubuntu (because it is out of the box and easy), but I ran out of use for an old laptop I had around and chose to install a minimalist distro on it (hence arch). The learning curve was a bit steep, but it is intersting and makes for a nice learning experience at the very least.
The problem:
I updated my system (which I do each time there is an available update on linux because it normally fixes things) on the 11th and everything was working great. However, my ip lease expired over the weekend (apparently) and as I am mostly a windows user (sorry, but it is true) I didn't notice it until today (when I went to check pacman for any updates and no longer had an internet connection).
It appears that the last round of updates I installed included updates for wpa_supplicant in them and changed the way things are supposed to be done in the /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf file. It looked like so beforehand (and still does though I have attempted to rewrite with the new format - sadly that hasn't worked out and I am here as a result):

Well, this is what I like to see. Apparently it wasn't as difficult as I was making it out to be, and the second wpa_supplicant.conf file I posted (the new one) works. I just had to do a reboot for it to notice the changes (though this does lead me to wonder if a daemon caches the wpa_supplicant entries...). It is all working now.

You are trying to use netcfg-menu.
The error message is telling you that you need to install the "dialog" package to use netcfg-menu.
Solution: install the "dialog" package (pacman -S dialog).
edit: You can also use netcfg without the dialog package. For example, "netcfg -u <profile>", "netcfg -l". See "netcfg --help" for more options.

Updated and application stop working
I recently updated my Nokia E5 and afterwards my widgets and some other applications stopped working. Worse still I can't even removed/ delete them. The present version is 081. Please assist.
Hello terri_max644, try to download the widgets and Applications and then re install them. After this if you want to remove them you can do so. Try and reply.

T510 Mouse and Keyboard stops working with Windows Update - unable to roll back, happened twice
My mouse has been working fine for a while but it stopped working followed by the keyboard, I put it down to a Windows update but because Windows 7 keeps bluescreening on a restore point I couldn't recover. I contacted Lenovo got the rebuild disc for my machine, completely rebuilt it, all working fine, then after 2 days same issue, mouse stopped, keyboard stopped, restore points make no difference. Does anyone know what windows update is causing this and if there is a fix aside from rebuilding, I can't keep doing this and I need to understand the cause really, not had it with a laptop before. Gone back to using my old laptop until I can get it sorted. Does anyone have any ideas?
I installed the latest drivers via windows update and got the touchpad back, rebooted, it went again. Netiher the trackpoint or touchpad work. I then thought rather than focus on drivers check the bios. I disabled the trackpoint in the bios, still neither works, however if I disable the touchpad in the bios and enable the trackpoint, the trackpoint does consistently work. I can't explain why the touchpad worked after a touchpad update but now fails, the ultranav driver is installed but if both are enabled in the bios it say it isn't installed, if the trackpoint is enabled it tells me I need to enable both so it clearly knows it's there. What's curious is that this doesn't happen on the complete clean IBM build. I can't not turn off windows updates, I'm a developer so Ioad the laptops up with a vast variety of software and I need many of the windows update fixes, either way I am surprised they are conflicting with the touchpad so dramatically. I can't see it being a virus I'm using two layers of protection and if I blow the machine away and installed the updates via an .iso image (so it's never connected to anything else), I can replicate the problem. It's feasible it's another piece of software causing the conflict. Any one have any idea what could be going on or seen it before?

Win 7 Drag and Drop stopped working after iTunes update
I really hope that this is the right sub-forum for this.
Here goes:
A few days ago I finally upgraded to 9.1.1.12 and today I was in for a nasty surprise: I can't move MP3s from windows explorer into the iTunes window any more.
I often create playlists and then drag files I get from a few bands I follow directly into those playlists. This is an easy and painless process. My FTP client downloads the files into a prearranged folder whenever they get a new song up, and I then open said folder and drag and drop the file into iTunes.
I just got a new song to listen to today, wanted to drag it in an... Nothing. Just the black, crossed-through circle of "No".
It worked last week. It worked the week before. It worked the years before.
I got Win7 64 in April. It worked on it since then.
It stopped working today.
And no, I won't let iTunes consolidate or organize my media. It only organizes files bought via the iTunes store, nothing I rip from CDs or obtain otherwise, as those files have to be playable by two other players as well. But, again: Until this night it worked without a problem. And after the new update... Stopped.
Is there a new option I'm missing?I was able to fix it.
I simply stopped running iTunes in Admin mode. For some reason, running it in administrator mode makes it behave "worse" than not doing so.
When I ran it as a normal program, I was able to drag files into it correctly again.
Which is weird, as the last version was also running in admin mode, but worked perfectly. -
Before I updated to Yosemite, I could FaceTime other people and Message other people with the MacBook Pro apps. However, after I updated to Yosemite, they stopped working. I get "not delivered" feedback on Messages, and "call failed" on FaceTime. I made sure that both have the correct emails checked and unchecked in the settings as my iPod, and made sure that the "make calls from" or "begin new conversations from" coincide with my handheld Apple media player.
Am I not doing something? Am I doing something wrong?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
Iphone4s updated to iOS 6.1.3 and sound stopped working
I have updated my Iphone 4s to iOS 6.1.3 and right away sound stopped working. Is anyone else facing this issue? When I open siri i can hear the sound that means speakers are good. Looks like something is wrong with iOS 6.1.3 update. When headphones are connected then sound is ok.

Updated then utorrent, firefox, and norton stopped working
So my wife supposedly downloaded a new update for firefox on our desktop. Then a bunch of stuff stopped working all at once. I can still connect to the internet using internet explorer. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, resetting firefox, messing with firewall settings. I don't know what else to try. Any help?
If Norton also stopped working I would recommend running a virus scan with a different application. You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
