Updated to 10.6.8 and now firewire doesnt work

I am on an imac intel core 2, 2.4 ghz, i just updated to 10.6.8 and now i cant access my external drive (g-drive mini) with fire wire, it works with USB still but not firewire. I cant see it in the system profiler or using disk utility but it is powering up when hooked up to the firewire and still beeps when its unplugged.
I also updated my MBP to 10.6.8 and the firewire still works on that one. Any help would be appreciated to get it working.

If you have an os on the hdd, why not do a clean install of the os (erase the drive and reinstall osx snow leopard) For snow leopard you insert the osx disk, restart the machine while holding down the c key

If that magnet was strong enough, it may have damaged your hard drive. You'll have to bring it in and see if you can get it repaired/replaced.

k, so I tried installing the new update for itunes and now it wont work at all. it says that the mobile device isnt installed. i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 4 times now.

Yes I'm aware of that. The procedures are also for trying in cases where iTunes can't be reinstalled due to a "Could not start Apple Mobile Device service" message.
If you're getting a different error message relating to the Apple Mobile Device Service (or Apple Mobile Device Support) when you try to reinstall iTunes, post back to let us know what that error message says. (Precise text, please.)

I have a Pc and been running Itunes off of it for years. Now it doesn't work. It doesn't run stating it is missing something. I have deleted the itunes and reinstalled and have run the repair as well and it doesnt work. I am not pleased. I need help!

Firefox udated, and now facebook doesnt work correctly.....

This morning firefox updated itself, and now all of the pop-ups on facebook do not work, no chat, no messages, etc....... is it a default setting that isnt allowing it? i tried my IE and it works fine on that...... ???????? thanks!!!!

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Downloaded the 3.1.2 update for my 2nd gen itouch, now it doesnt work

I cant use my itouch at all, it does not do anything. The only thing on it is the end of a usb cord and the itunes symbol what can i do? i payed $5 for the update and now my itouch isnt working at all, can i get a refund and just like roll back the itouch completely? i dont know what to do please help.

Try to force your iPod into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. _Press and hold the home button_ while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. _Continue holding the Home button_ while the iPod starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. I restored my ipod touch 2g and now when i turn it on it goes to the apple logo and turns off and thats as far as i get.

It means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.

My ipod wont charge. It died yesterday and when i did the lock home button thing the screen flashed white. After that the dead signal wont even pop up now an suggestion. Its a ipod touch 4 generation, 36gb I tried charging it to my computer, wii,tv, wall plug NOTHING WORKS.!

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue. Need details on what happens when you try to boot up from your install disc. Was it the disc that originally came with your computer?

How long did you let it dry before trying to use it? Put it in a cool, dry place for 5 - 7 days and see if it works after that time frame.
If that doesn't work you can try a 3rd party repair site such as http://www.iresq.com or Google for more.

Your iPad is in Recovery Mode. You need to plug it in to your computer and Restore it using iTunes.
