Updated to 2014.2 all AVCHD files - mts - missing, unsupported compression type error?

Anyone have a clue here? Just updated from 2014.0 when it started crashing with backend dll error. Plus, lost all my Sapphire and Universe plug-ins despite Adobe's promise they'd work.
time to roll back again?

Hi Videowilk,
I already responded to your other post.

Did you update a project file before delivering that project? My feeling is that you should have not updated any projects to a new version. Stay in 2014.0 until it is complete.
Or is this a brand new Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2) project?
Thanks,
Kevin

  • PPro CC says "the file has an unsupported compression type" in one project only - .mts files

Had to re-install Ppro CC to alleviate some plugin issues. Now, one of my projects that is comprised mostly of AVCHD files(.mts) are offline, and when I attempt to relink, I get the "the file has an unsupported compression type" message. But, all other projects with the same file types are fine.
I can open another project, or start a new one, and import the .mts files from the errant project with no problem. I have also tried importing the errant project into a new project. I have trashed preferences. I have signed out of CC, then signed back in.
I'm at a loss of what else to try. Any ideas?

    Ah well...
This forum has the same effect that my father did when I was a kid. As soon as I posted the above, I tried to open the errant project again, and the .mts files are now online. Same as my Dad and my car - it would be broken, and all he'd have to do is climb in and crank it, and I'd look like an idiot.

  • THE FILE HAS AN UNSUPPORTED COMPRESSION TYPE

    Hello frnds,
I am having an issue here in Premiere pro CS5. In CS5 new features they said we can import DVD format files into premiere pro CS5 without converting into any format but when I import my DVD files it gives me an error message saying that: THE FILE HAS AN UNSUPPORTED COMPRESSION TYPE.
Is there anyway I can sort this problem? pls help me....

Are they on your hard drive(cause running from DVD is begging for trouble)? what size are they? and what was the source you got them from? If all else fails, just convert em over(I hate working outside of the standard formats).
LOL harm asked the essential question..

    Hi,
I have Creative Cloud subscription.  Trying to import files I have saved from Photoshop into Premiere Pro CC  Tried saving them as JPEG and as TIFF, big and small files but never is able to import.  How do I solve this so I can use those pictures?

  • AVCHD "unsupported compression type" ???

I just moved a large project from one system to another and all of a sudden all the AVCHD media shows up as offiline. Other media in the project that came in as .mov files shows up fine.
When I try to relink the missing clips, I keep getting a "the file has an unsupported compression type" dialog. I created a test project and can import the AVCHD media into it and work with it on this system. But my original project will not link to the same media on the system.
I also deleted the media cache and media data folders. But that doesn't help either.
Meanwhile I can go back to the original system and the project and AVCHD files will open fine.
Both systems are i7 iMacs and the media is accessed from a shared server which we've been using this way without a problem for 3 months.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on?
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
    Thanks!

    Thanks Vinay!
That works! I moved the .mts files into their own folder outside of the PRIVATE/AVCHD folder and they will now link to the clips in the timeline.
So for future reference I assume we should pull the media out of the AVCHD folder structure, correct?
The only thing is ... it appears that I have to relink them one clip at a time. I have the relink automatically button checked, but it doesn't seem to be working. It's going to be a long afternoon if that's the case. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks again for the help and rapid response!

  • .mts files get "unsupported compression type" after upgrading to cc 2014.1 - windows 8.1

Had this problem last time I upgraded from cc -> cc 2014.. all the files went "media offline".  Really frustrating.
I tried deleting the adobe cache and relocating the files, but it didn't help.
Any other work arounds, or is the a fix for this update due?  They were working fine prior to this update.

Ok.. that actually worked.  So weird.  I had tried relinking and that didn't help.. but this did.
    Thanks for that.

Perform a complete backup before hand and all will be well.  You just restore the backup after the update.  If you have a backup password, be sure you haven't forgotten it.  The details of what is backed up differ a bit if you are outside of the states.  Read this article for details:

  • Problems started with 'Corrupted Project' and has led to 'Unsupported Compression Type" for certain .mts files

Had to revisit several projects that were working this past January, but now several are reporting as being 'corrupted'. After trying all of the usual recommended remedies, and failing, I attempted what is always my 'last resort' - Trashing Preferences. Last resort because it has always in recent versions, led to other problems. This time was no exception. Now, not only did trashing them NOT solve my corrupt project issue, but it added a couple more. Now, MB Looks plugin can't be seen, which has happened nearly every time I've trashed preferences, and certain .mts files are showing as being the dreaded 'Unsupported compression type', while many in the same folder are working just fine. This almost always seems to be a license issue of some sort. I have signed out of CC, then signed back in to no avail. My short term memory is nearly gone, but I seem to recall a similar set of occurrences a few months ago, and a uninstall/re-install was required to bring everything back to normal. This is getting quite old, as am I.

    Welcome to the Communities.
We want to help you but unfortunately you have given us insufficient information.
Please find a moment to tell us more about your machine, the model identifier, the OS version, and the total amount of RAM you have.   It also helps to know where you are, nothing specific, just the country.   Macs do not run on iOS 6.1.6 as your profile says.
Then fill those same details in your profile for future use

  • File Import Failure; File has unsupported compression type!

I completed editing my movie about two weeks ago did all the colour correction audio etc last week, and aim to complete the sutitling tomorrow!
But now the problem is that my some of my files are now offline and can't be relinked because I get an error message which says "File Import Failure; File has unsupported compression type"
These files are .MTS which I believe are AVCHD.
So I don't know what has happenned here. Is it the recent update that has caused this or something else?

This have happend to me twice now.
If I remember correctly it have to do with Cloud membership in my case. Both times I have been away on work and when I get home I have a email stating that payment have failed. After I set it right I start up Premiere and I get this failure.
First time the solution was uninstall Everything Adobe and run clean script. Reinstalling did the trick.
That solution is not working in the long run.
Here Adobe needs to do something soon!

Can anybody tell me what conditions would cause this error?

    well yes:
    panel.addGLEventListener(new GLR());
"GLR" implements "GLEventListener" and defines the required methods
I installed the Netbeans OpenGL Pack on NetBeans 6.5 and there is a problem with that...mh :(
Ok I also tried to create a GLPanel-Sample-Project and modify it but netbeans don't know "javax.swing.GroupLayout;" I installed the JDK as well.
mh what can i do: try to fix my actual error or try to get GroupLayout in java.swing^^

  • HT5409 Avchd files *.MTS are not recognized by QuickTime Player in OS X 10.8.3

I have some acvhd files named as 00036.MTS and they play pretty good with VLC. I got all excited when I read that in OS X 10.8.3 that the QuickTime Player will have support for avchd files. I just upgraded three machines to OS X10.8.3 a Macbook Air, Mac Mini and an iMac, when I click on an a 00036.MTS file it defaults to VLC and if I right click and select to use an application to use QuickTime does not display. If I select all applictaions then select QuickTime, I am told QuickTime may not recognize this format. I click ok and get, "The document "00036.MTS" could not be opened, QuickTime Player cannot open files of this type. The avchd files have been created with a Sony camera.
What do I need to do to get this to work?
    Walter

It looks like you need to keep them packaged in their file hierarchy, not open the .mts files directly. See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5409

  • CC 2014.  Now AVCHD files have no audio.

I'm running a mac and i've recently updated to Premier Pro CC2014.  My AVCHD files that worked before the update do not have audio anymore.
I opened a previous project that used the same files and it works fine.  However, when I load the same AVCHD files into a new project, I've got no audio.
    Any ideas?

I went back and fully removed the old cc version.  now 2014 is the only version installed.  Still no audio.
I cleared the cache and cleared the bin with the media files.  then re-imported them into PP.
I noticed a yellow caution symbol in the lower right corner of the screen.  When you click on it, this is what you get.

  • After 10.8.3 update, time machine rebackups all the files in the home

Yesterday evening I have updated my MacBook Pro'11 from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3
Next time machine backup works for the whole night and now I can see that it rebackups the whole home user folder. It shows all the files in my home directory have been changed somehow. As a result, a huge amount of backup history is dropped on the time machine backup drive.
Is it okay? Why TM thinks my 350 GB of personal files have been changed after system update?

Ok, I didn't go in and check every file on the iMac last night when it did a full backup so will take your word for it.  Doing this once with the new install seems reasonable to me, and with the large external drives I use is not a problem...well, except for the noise the drives make for such a long time will writing the backup
I am just happy knowing there is a good base for rebuilding the internal drive if I need it.
