Updated to 9.03 now cannot restore iPod that crashed

I updated iTunes today to 9.0.3 on my PowerBook G4. Then I tried to update my iPod touch to 3.1.whatever. iTunes immediately crashed and then my iPod crashed and I have to restore to factory settings. Now, I cannot restore my iPod on this PowerBook but it's the one that has the iPod backup and the latest iPod system (my other Macs can only update the iPod to 2.2). Every time I get to the stage where it extracts the program (3.1.whatever), iTunes crashes. I am stuck in a loop of crashing. I cannot restore the iPod because iTunes crashes every time I try it. I don't know if it's an iTunes or iPod issue, but I'm thinking it's more of an iTunes problem than an iPod problem. I really need help!

I am having a similar problem. iTunes won't let me update or restore my iPod. It just says AppleMobileDeviceHelper quit unexpectedly and iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services.

I tried to restore my 120 gb iPod and got an error 1413 message - "cannot restore iPod". I started to reset turning the hold switch on and off and now my iPod seems to be permanently locked. I had been having trouble syncing music, When I tried to sync, iTunes said it didn't recognize my iPod, even though I was on the iPod page in iTunes which showed the model number and the serial number of my iPod

I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

  • Updated iTunes yesterday and now cannot sync iPhone 5

updated iTunes yesterday and now cannot sync iPhone 5

Hard to believe an update did this!! I had the exact problem-updated my iPod & iTunes software & iTunes was crashing whenever I hooked up the iPod-"unclicking" all of my purchased music did the trick! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR THAT TIP-I'M SURE I WOULD'VE STILL BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM!!
Wish I hadn't restored factory settings first since I would have at least still had my piles of PURCHASED music on the iPod-I accidentally had ONE purchased song checked off to update the iPod & it crashed all over again-glad it was easy enough to figure out which song wasn't from my cd collection that I uploaded! Does anyone have any idea how this will be handled? It seems that money should be refunded for buying these songs for Apple products that, upon the company's instructions to upgrade, can no longer be played on the hardware they're specifically designed for! Or at least they're hopefully coming up with a new upgrade to solve the problem! Very irritating situation!

  • I have updated to iOS8. Now cannot connect to BT speaker I have been using for months. BT discovers it but will not pair. Help please

I have updated to iOS8. Now cannot connect to BT speaker that I have been using for months. BT discovers it but will not pair. I have tried switching both off & on but nothing helps.

I am sure the BT speaker not the problem because it works fine with iOS8 on my iPad!
... And no I am not trying to connect both at once.  To be sure I have switched the iPad off completely and switched the speaker off & on but still with the same failure to pair.  The iPhone sees the speaker but then gives me the pairing unsuccessful message when asked to connect.

I have just updated my iPad and now cannot access any apps as they just close down straight away. Any ideas why and how to solve?

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I've also seen it suggested that people try downloading a free app from the store onto the iPad (as that seems to reset something), and then re-try the apps - the free app can then be deleted.

  • HT3275 How do I find/restore files from items in secure home folder? How do I find/restore files that crashed when in finder of secure (File Vault) home folder?

How do I find/restore files from items in secure (File Vault) home folder? How do I find/restore files that crashed when in finder of secure (File Vault) home folder?  When I go into Time Machine, I see earlier dates but can't see files in my User File. I have File Vault turned on and see my home folder as a sparsebundle.  Do I neede to restore this in order to see files in my home folder.  When I click on it to restore it gives me an estimated time of over 2 hours.  Also tried to restore an Excel file I was working on when computer hung, so lost it without saving or naming it.  Does it exist anyplace and can I restore it?

Thanks. I had pretty much figured out from other posts that I had better turn off File Vault for my home folder and use a disk utility sparse bundel for little information I wanted to secure. The information about File Vault 2 in Lion was new and useful though.

  • Updated iTunes software & ITunes Updater and now cannot sync iPod

I was requested to update my iTunes software and install the iTunes updater, which I accomplished. Now when I go to sync up my iPod I get the following error message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to be closed, We are sorry for the inconvenience" It will not allow iTunes to remain open or sync with my iPod. It didn't happen prior to installing the updater. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Cannot restore ipod and other issues.

If someone can solve my ipod issues, you will totally make my birthday. Here's the deal. Sometimes when I connect my Ipod to my computer, it sees it as a just a removable disk drive. When that happens, Itunes tells me that my ipod is corrupt. When it tells me I should restore, it then tells me error 1418. I followed the steps on the post on here about that error code and it doesn't work. However, sometimes my computer recognizes my ipod, a message will pop up from memory card manager saying failed ot locate supported file types or there are no photos found on this device. Then my ipod will sync in itunes and start copying files. It says it's copying (which in actuality it's not copying anything or i might get a song or two to copy to my ipod) but then it stops and a message pops up saying, The ipod "Mike's ipod" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found. I just don't know what to even try anymore. I've looked at so many posts and still nothing works. Please if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it so much!!!

    Hi,
Ok, there seems to be a problem... I've now been running Disk First Aid Erase on my iPod for an hour and a half. So far the blue bar showing progress seems to be stuck on about 5mm in...
Btw... there's been 2 people w probs posting here (I couldn't find the link to make a new post and joined this as it had similar probs)- the original guy has sorted his problem. Mine revolves around an iPod that showed up corrupted when I plugged into my Mac after not using the iPod for a couple of months.
iTunes can't restore it - error sign... As it also now shows up unrecognizable when I plug it into my Mac but with a "you can intialize" possibility I'm trying that as suggested. That takes me to Disk First Aid where pod erase seems to be stuck....
Hope somebody out there can help... thanks!

  • IPod Touch will not restore, error message 1602 "cannot restore Ipod"

My Touch was acting funny today by causing me to not be able to change my volume. The problem went away this afternoon, but re-occurred tonight and wouldn't go away. So I tried restoring and after the software was updated iTunes gave me an error 1602 message that said it couldn't be restored. Now iTunes doesn't even recognize the device and the screen on my Touch shows the computer end of the USB cord with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo. I did not check for updates on my iTunes before doing the restore, but am in the process of downloading the latest version of iTunes (8.1.1).
Also, can someone tell me how to deal with my volume not being able to change in the future? Is it as simple as doing a soft reset by holding down the home button and sleep button at the same time? I tried going into settings -> music -> volume control and that didn't do anything.
This was purchased in early March 2009 and already it is giving me problems... Help needed. Thanks.

I have no clue what a jailbroken ipod is, but a quick search on it shows that it's some sort of hack? I can assure you it has NOT been hacked and that this is either an issue with the iPod or my USB ports. At this point, I am more inclined to think it's an issue with my USB ports as multiple flash drives do not even register on my computer (though they can be safely ejected...).

  • Ios4 update and error code (-19) cannot restore

Syncing my iphone and selected the 4.0 update as well. Did a complete wipe out of my phone then continued with restore. The restore is stopped with Cannot restore...error code (-19). So now I cannot do anything with itunes. and the syncing is taking hours and hours and still getting same error code. Some of the published "fixes" require buying a registry software which I beleive is a scam, so what's the deal? Is there a fix or an answer from Apple?

You've posted in the wrong forum. This is for the iPhone 4, NOT iOS4

  • Help/advice needed - cannot restore iPod!

My iPod was working fine, until I tried to update it! Then my computer froze, and the iPod just showed the 'Do Not Disconnect' for hours. The iPod icon wasn't showing up in iTunes or on my desktop, so I disconnected it, and now I just get the little folder and exclamation point icon.
I have followed all the advice on the various Apple documents,, but every time I try to restore it, the update doesn't seem to recognise the iPod, and keeps telling me 'Plug in iPod', even though it is plugged in. I have tried using different USB ports, and the iPod does show up in My Computer (as Drive F), but the updater refuses to recognise it.
    I have tried -
    Resetting iPod
    Putting it into Disk Mode
Have reinstalled Itunes, and redownloaded the iPod updater. Have also tried using old updaters, as well as reinstalling off the original CD that came with the iPod.
Have installed Service Pack 2, run Scan Disk, disconnected firewalls, AVG anti-virus etc.
My iPod is fully charged, but when I turn it on I keep getting the Apple logo, then the folder/exclamation point icon.
    Any help/advice much appreciated!
    Thank you

Somebody please help. I'm trying hard not to sand in line at Sam's Club to return a 3 years old item. LOL. But at least I have this option. I'm grandfathered into their old return anytime policy.
I've tried formatting it, I can't even format it. Anybody?

  • Cannot restore iPod Touch 5g: iTunes "Waiting for iPod"

SIDE NOTE: For a TL:DR, I've made all the important stuff bold.
I've been having this issue with my iPod Touch 5G where I cannot restore it no matter what I do.
This article, This article, This article, nor This article helped me.
When my iPod is not connected to the computer, it literally does nothing at all, no matter what you do. When you plug it into the computer, the computer recognizes it as an iPod, but it says "Serial Number: n/a", and will not display any info. I can tell my iPod detects button presses because I can connect it and disconnect it just by holding in the Power and Home buttons. After plugging it in, the bar at the top of iTunes says "Extracting software", then after that bar fills up it goes to "Waiting for iPod". It then says "Preparing iPod for restore", and then fluctuates between the last two, once or twice. After that, iTunes gets stuck on "Waiting for iPod", and stays there. The iPod, however, displays an apple logo with an empty progress bar beneath it. I took it to an Apple Store not too long ago, and they couldn't fix it. The employee there couldn't do anything more than what I've done. He said that my only option is to get a new one. I still haven't lost hope, though, because there has been two other cases where I've fixed devices where something like this has happened. It's just not working now.
    Anyways, please help!
    Sincerely, Alex.

    - Try another cable
    - Try another USB port
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Try on another computer
    - Not clear you tried DFU mode and then restore
