Updated to AIR 3.9 - Muse runs slow

I have been building a website in Muse and having no problems with speed. I just upgraded AIR to 3.9 and now every mouse click results in a multi-minute wait. All assets are on the local computer, no changes besides upgrading to 3.9. I did a fresh install (uninstalled, restarted, installed 3.9, restarted) of 3.9 and had no change.
I just uninstalled 3.9, restarted, installed 3.8 and everything is working fine again.
Any ideas on what the conflict might be? Is it just me?

First off, make sure you are using Techtool Pro 4.0.5 or later. Lots of people have had trouble with earlier versions of Techtool Pro in Mac OS X 10.4.
Secondly, external Firewire drives that are connected during a software update may become invisible if you didn't install the latest firmware update from the drive manufacturer.
If the data on the drive is backed up, take a look at these couple of FAQs:
http://www.macmaps.com/firewirebug2.html
http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If the data is not backed up, get a second drive to restore the information with Prosoft Data Rescue, if you can't reset the Firewire bus or reset the PRAM to solve the problem as the first link above suggests.

  • Since i updated the wifi on iMac internet runs slow

Bought imac 27 inch 2.7ghz with 4gb ram last week - everything was running fine - super fast - i havent done anything of note on the computer - installed photoshop, trial version of word etc etc.
I updated a few things yesterday - namely the wifi update to version 1?
my safari is now annoyingly slow - also anything else i do needing internet connection is slow
my iphone, ipad and the laptop is all working superfast on internet - but pages on this imac now take a while to load (by a while i mean 20-30 secs) it wasnt like this before and as ive only just bought it its frustrating me to the point i want to take it back - i can follow instructions etc etc to solve this but im at a loss as its my first mac and was loving the experience but this mac is mainly for internet and want to know whats wrong with it.
any help would be greatly appreciated before i return it to shop or tell apple to come and sort it.

Boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and select Get Help Online. Safari will launch. Is it slow?

  • Muse Running Slow on iMac

    Folks,
I have an iMac (late 2010) running Mt. Lion, i7 proc, 16GB ram, 1TB HD and SSD. I have noticed on this machine, which I purchased about a month ago, that MUSE is running very slowly, almost glitchy. I have turned off all other "heavy" programs, but still get the same results. I am up to date on all software but can't figure why such bad performance.  I click on an image or object and then have to wait for the program to catch up. It's really hard to get any productive work done.
I could really use some help on this one. Google has giving me none. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you resolve it? Muse works great on my PC @ work. I'm sure you can understand my frustration....Thank for any help!

It sounds like you're encountering something that's not specific to Muse. I'm not sure how much help I can be beyond some basic troubleshooting tips.
I recommend it to run Activity Monitor and sort by CPU usage. When you're not using your computer, there shouldn't be any processes consistently taking up more than 2 or 3% of the CPU. It sounds like you may have a background utility that's using an abnormal amount of the CPU.
If you have processes that are using more than 5% of the CPU while you're idle, you'll want to close those programs and/or do some Google searches to attempt to determine what those processes are part of and how to best get rid of them.

  • Laptop runs slow until after suspend/resume

Ever since the update kernel 3.4 my laptop runs slow until after a suspend/resume.
It seems something has gone wrong with the power management settings from powerup, that then get corrected through the suspend/resume cycle.
Its now getting rather anoying having to suspend my machine after boot, just to be able to use it.
Does any know what the problem might be or what information I should look at to help identify it.
Here is some info on my machine:
    HP Compaq 6715b, AMD Turion64 X2, ATI RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] (Actually X1300)
    Linux tigger 3.4.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 16 21:35:54 CEST 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Perhaps you need to disable autosuspend for the USB hub too. Try
    echo -1 >/sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend
    for i in /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/autosuspend; do echo -1 > $i; done
and see if that fixes the problem.

  • Mavericks is making my computer run slow

Since I updated my Mavericks my computer is running slow. I have done all the tricks. I brought it into the mac store and they said I have 55% free memory but I get the spinning wheel of death when i try typing it takes forever. Programs dont open or they take forever. Never had this issue until I updated Mavericks. I can applejack, did the shift control option hold power and the option command-p-r hold power. repaired disks, cleaned out system caches, re-installed osx?? What is the next step. apple said "well it may just be mavericks sorry! You may just need to buy more memory even though it says you have plenty." I'll type a few words and the spinny wheel comes up and the words don't appear on the page until about 30 seconds later. Any tricks, advice etc. Tey told me to go to this website http://www.crucial.com  and to install two 4 gb in the slots instead of the 2 gb I have in each slot. For stroage, under about this mac it says i have 163.18 out of GB of 319.21 GB free.  Thank you so much

  • My Macbook Air is running slow with Yosemite.

My Macbook Air is running slow with Yosemite.
I checked out most of the blogs and everything and have removed widgets from the notification center, but everything seems to run kinda slowly.
Sure, i have the base model 2014 macbook air but that 4 gb ram should run a freakin finder just fine. I had Mavericks installed before, and with that, i could do everything. I even made cool music in GarageBand and nothing was lagging for me. Now i installed Yosemite... Everything is lagging. Scrolling seems like it happens around 10 FPS. That aint good man. Memory cleaner says around 1gb ram free when only the finder is running in the background (before it did around 2). I just uninstalled Memory Cleaner o I'm not looking at that little amount of memory. I don't know what to do now? I would appreciate it, if someone would help me. Otherwise, ill just wait for a new update.

Since it's new I would take it back for repair or exchange under your warranty before bothering to read further.
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have been having trouble with logmein, over time more people I provide IT support for are having major slow ups and crashes, seems to be logmein. I think they are slowly rolling out automtatic updates that are causing it.
    Try uninstalling it!
Open the control panel, in about there is an uninstall option.

  • My Macbook air is running slow and adware pop up eveytime I search for somthing online. Help!

For the past week my Macbook air has been running slow and the are ads that pop up with everything I search for through firefox. I even try and open netflix on my laptop and an adware pop up comes up with it. There are many different pop ups but the one that follows is the one that pops up most. One day it is Mac OS browser warning the next day it is windows browser warning. Do I call the number on the pop up, it says I have a virus or is it a scam? help me, I don't know what to do.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • 2014 Macbook Air running slow?

My 2014 Macbook Air seems to be running a little slower since updating, I have a lot of memory available and I haven’t downloaded anything from the web. I’ve also done the resets and emptying cache in Chrome and all that, it started running faster after that. I don’t know if its just chrome or the whole system.

Webroot is the likely culprit.    Most antivirus software slows down Macs.   In general good safe computing practices are sufficient to prevent viruses.  No peer2peer software.  No opening of attachments from unknown sources.     No opening of attachments that have extensions that Macs can execute (.exes are harmless unless Windows is on the Mac).   If you must have anti-virus ClamAV or Sophos are better.
Ask the authors of Webroot how to completely remove their software so you aren't left with lingering effects.

Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing. I am using a brand new IMAC, I have 16GB RAM recently updated as it was running slow with 8GB and lots of hardrive space. When it crashes, i lose all my presents and it changes my preferences, it also fails to save or produce a recovered file despite settings asking it to do so every 5 mins now. When i try to report the problem, it says it has found an issue and gives me a link to a solution....but wont let me click on the link.... PLEASE HELP! It's killing my productivity.

If the crash started right after you added RAM, it could be a bad Ram dimm. You can try this - change the amount of RAM in Photoshop to 4G, this should stop Photoshop from using the higher ram. If it doesn't crash, it's probably the ram. Or run a diagnostic app. You don't say when it crashes, what you're doing when it crashes - it there a pattern? Did it ever work on this computer? Did it work on your previous computer? Without a lot of data, it could be related to the new computer... What OS version? Did you recently update it? Have you updated Photoshop to the most recent update?
Do you have any plug-ins loaded? Try restarting Photoshop, and immediately press & hold the shfit key to turn off plug-ins.

It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

  • 10.6.8 update running slow as sh*t

Just did the netupdate to my iMac (running OSX 10.6.8) and now my MAC is running slow as sh*t... is anyone else having this issue? I checked the process level and nothing seems to be over consuming system resources... my question is this... has anyone else reported issues with the latest updates?
I'm talking really slow.. dog slow... woof woof. Here's a list of applications that were updated with the latest net update.... one of these is a culprit of poor programming & testing.

    Do smc and pram reset.
Boot from your installer dvd (or external bootable drive) and repair/verify you drives (not repair permissions).
