Updated to aperture 3.2.3

and now my library is empty. I see where I can import the projects again, one at a time, but only the masters.  Adjustments and Smart albums are gone. When I use Time Machine, I get a pop-up only about the version.

An Aperture Update does not erase the Aperture Library - so hopefully there is some other reason you do not see your albums and versions. Are you sure you are viewing your main Library and not an empty new one? Check by going to the Aperture File menu,
     File -> Switch to Library
You will see a list of all available Libraries.
Also, if your Library appears to be empty, you may have set a filter: Check the search fields in the Browser and the Inspector, if a filter is set.

    Hi all,
I was getting messages that my Aperture Library was full, so made an appointment at my closest Mac store, but have to wait 2 days. They advise you to update saoftware before coming in, so I updated to Aperture 5.3.1. When I open it, I'm asked to update my library. When I select that option, I'm told that my library is full. Now I can't access my library at all. What should I do to access my library? Do I have to uninstall 5.3.1 and reinstall an older version?
Another problem I have recently encountered ... all the up and down scrollers on various screens have disappeared. They reappear fleetingly when I use my up and down arrowa, but I can't always catch them. How do I get my scrollers back?

Thank you so much for your patient guidance and screen captures.
    You are welcome.
My external hard drive is properly formatted for Aperture, so I am currently copying my Aperture library to it. That will take hours since it is copying 101 GB.
    o.k.
I understand that I need to clean some space on my internal hard drive and reformat the Aperture library to get back in operation.
You need to upgrade the Aperture library to be used with Aperture 3.5.1.  That will happen automatically, when you first double click the copied lirary to open it in Aperture.
I'll also need to back up my external drive with a new external drive if I make space on my internal drive by removing some photos from there and store them on my current external drive.
What do you use for backup? If you are using TimeMachine it is better to have only the Time Machine backup on the Time Machine drive . In that case would I put the Aperture library and other data on a new drive and keep the old drive for backup.

  • Photo stream not updating after Aperture update

I installed ML and after I did that saw there was an update for Aperture 3.  So, I updated to 3.3.2.  Now, when I open up Photo Stream, it does not update.  My phone and iPad both update with the stream but not Aperture.  I checked all my settings and that is enabled.  Any clue as to the problem?
    Thanks!

I have to wonder if this problem is somehow server related. I did had this problem, even over multiple restarts of Aperture. I fired up Aperture this morning and the sync worked.
A couple of things that may contribute:
    1. This is a start of a new month. I wonder if that played into it.
    2. I rename my Photo Stream Project so that they will display in order alphabetically. Can't say if I had renamed a project of an active month previously, but I know i did that for July. The funny thing is my renamed July Project still synced correctly. In the future, I think I'll wait until the month is over to rename the project.

Um, let's review the replies so far, from top contributors:
"No one here can speak for Apple so it is impossible to say for sure."
"I am hoping for an Aperture 4, but will not speculate"
"Nobody qualified to say could/would say anything here about Aperture 4."

  • HT1338 where is the update for aperture to make it work with the updated os x yosemite

where is the update for aperture to make it work with the updated os x yosemite

The currently sold version of Aperture at the AppStore, Aperture 3.6 is compatible with Yosemite.
See the Release notes: Aperture 3.6 Release notes
If you are running any version of Aperture 3, you should be able to update to this version.  Does the update not show for you?
The update has been shown automatically for those who had upgraded from Mavericks and been running Aperture 3.5.1. Other users, who skipped Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1 have reported problems to get the update to show and needed to contact the AppStore Support. The update did not show, if the users tried to update from an earlier version.

  • Will there be an update to Aperture 4?

Will there be an update to Aperture 4?
Or better said: will ever there be a major update to Apple Aperture?

IMHO - the best plan is to have backups of the original files (music, photos, documents) so any changes a company might make won't affect one too much.
There are alternatives if Apple decides to change directions, so not a huge issue if you keep the originals safe and backup exported finals for keepsakes.
Still on the Windows platform at work and have seen many programs come and go over the years.
Aperture is a great idea and will hopefully keep moving forward.

    Alex,
did you just upgrade from an Aperture 3.2.x version to Aperture 3.3.1? This error message usually occures after the upgrade to 3.3.1, when Aperture cannont convert the library format to 3.3. format.
I'd try to repair the Aperture Library (Mediathek), before upgrading it. Hold down the option-command key combination (⌥⌘) while double-clicking Aperture. This will bring the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" panel forward. Select "Rebuild Database" and see, if it will resolve the the problem.
    Good luck

  • TS2518 how do I update my Aperture 3? I can't find where to download it.

how do I update my Aperture 3? I can't find where to download it?

What is your current Aperture version? And how did you buy Aperture originally?
If you bought it from the App Store, you should see it in the "Updates" tab of the App Store window; if you bought it differently use "Software Update" from the "Apple" menu.
Software update will only work, if Aperture is installed in the Applications folder, not a subfolder of this folder, and if it has not been renamed. It must simply be called "Aperture".

  • Update to Aperture 3.1.1 - Not able to install

Two odd things are occurring with installation of Aperture 3.0 updates.
    1. Updates to Aperture 3.0 (like 3.1.1) do not show up on the Mac Software Updates (other software does, including Camera RAW). Why does it not show up as an available update on the Mac?
    2. I instead downloaded the update from Apple.com. When I try to install it, it says it needs ProKit 5.1. So I found that on Apple.com and installed it too; yet the A3.1.1 update install still asks for ProKit 5.1. What gives?
    Toby

I got this one from the kb:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3582
    Symptoms
Software Update does not offer Aperture 3.1 on some computers with Mac OS X v10.5.8 which have Aperture 3 installed. If the manual update for Aperture 3.1 is run on an affected computer, it does not install successfully.
    Products Affected
    Aperture 3.x
    Resolution
ProKit 5.1 must be installed before Aperture 3.1 can be installed.
    Download the ProKit 5.1 update.
After you install ProKit 5.1, Click the Apple () menu and choose Software Update.
After Software Update has scanned for updates, click the Show Details button and make sure Aperture 3.1 is listed.
    Click the Install button.

  • Can't Update to  Aperture 2.1.4 on Snow Leopard

I fresh installed Aperture 2 to my Macbook, running Snow Leopard. When I launch the app it says "You can't use this version of Aperture with this version of OS X."
I understand I need to update to Aperture 2.1.4 for it to work with Snow Leopard. But when I try to install the update it says: "Aperture 2.0 or later required to install this software."
What do I do? I can't download and install the full version of the 2.1.4 trial because Apple took it down.
    Thanks!

I had already deleted the .plist and it didn't make a difference.
I got it working though. I downloaded the Aperture 2.1.4 Trial linked to at the bottom of this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11645688
The trial wouldn't install (even after I Appzapped my previous Aperture 2 install). The install would run, say complete, but nothing would be added to the Applications folder.
I eventually went into the private/var/db/receipts and delete the Aperture files.
    It installed fine after that.

  • Unsupported image format following update to Aperture 3.4.1

Following the update to Aperture 3.4.1 I can not use the JPEG file as the orignal in a RAW + JPEG file import. When I right click on an RAW + JPEG paired image and ask to use the JPEG as the original from either my Canon 5D Mark II or Canon 7D images the screen goes black and says Unsupported Image Format. I then ask to use the RAW as the original and I can see the RAW image. I've tried out other camera makes of RAW + JPEG images and the JPEG can be seen no problem. I've sent Apple a feedback comment on this.
I'd like to know if anyone with Canon 5D or 7D mixed RAW + JPEG images is having the same problem, or possibly any other Canon camera as I suspect this could be isolated to Canon files.

Assuming you've placed your aperture library in the default folder that Aperture wants to place it (within your pictures folder) then you should find your Aperture.plist file in this folder (~/Library/Preferences). The file to look for is called com.apple.Aperture.plist, make sure you do not have Aperture running at the time you delete this file.
I can't guarantee this will sort out any of your problems but you never know!
Also I understand this file is a simple file that tells Aperture what all your preferences are in terms of set-up and appearance, so if you've made lots of appearance adjustments from the normal way that Aperture looks on a first installation you may want to make comprehensive notes about how you have it looking etc so you can re-do those preferences.
I simply have left it looking as it did after first installation hence I was not concerned about deleting the file as the very next time you run Aperture it creates the file based on your current preferences.
I'd be very interested to know if anyone is experiencing a similar problem that I am as it's quite weird.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.5 on a late 2011 Macbook Pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8Gb 1333 MHz DDR3 and all software including Aperture is fully up to date and I store me images solely in the Aperture library. The problem is only showing up on Canon JPEGs.

  • No Faces After Update To Aperture 3.4.5

    Hi,
I seem to have lost all Faces after updating to Aperture 3.4.5 (from 3.4.4). Checking similar forum posts has not helped so far (Aperture.plist deleted, no search team on the cork board).
When I add Faces information to new photos, they do show up correctly, but all the others are gone. The Aperture library sits on NAS which is mapped as a network volume (that has not changed during the upgrade and has been working for years). Browsing the Aperture directory structure shows that the "Faces" subdirectory seems to contain the old Faces as well (found some names I had been using for tagging earlier).
My system setup: Mac Mini, 4GB RAM, OS X Mountain Liion 10.8.4, Aperture 3.4.5.
    I appreciate any suggestions.
    Cheers,
            iceblue69

I had a similar problem after an earlier update. The "Faces" were gone after the update.
Check, if the update disabled "Faces" in the Aperture Preferences "General" panel. That happened in my case. Only, activating the Faces again still did not bring the Faces back.
See: Aperture 3.3.2 Update: All faces are gone from my main Aperture library
What helped, was to rebuild the Aperture Library after enabling Faces again, see: (Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual). Back up the library, before you run a "Rebuild"
You know that Aperture libraries on a NAS are not supported, and you are keeping the library thee at your own risk. It may have been a transmission error, that made the Faces.db in your library unreadable.

Same issue here. Also cannot launch Photoshop CS3 and Quark 7.3.
I got out my original 10.5 system DVD's that came with my iMac 24", and did Archive & Install of System and All Bundled Applications.
I then did NOT update the system. I am staying on 10.5
    All is running fine now.
A buddy did what I did, and he checked the drive Permissions and Repaired drive, (no issues). He then proceeded to do Combo 10.5.2 update. After reboot, applications again would not launch!!
    Thanks, Scott K.

What happened to my keywords? Since the last update of aperture I can't see my keywords anymore! Every photo (1000s of images) had several keywords, but they're all gone. (Or at least I can't see them anymore.) Who will help me find them back?

You need to enable the display for metadata in Browser and Viewer.
There are several places how whereyou can turn it on; for example, from the main menu bar "view" menu:
View > Metadata display > Viewer > Show Metadata
View > Metadata display > Browser > Show Metadata
You need to configure the Metadata shown in these overlays.
    Use
View > Metadata display > Browser > Customize
Enable all tags you want in the left column of this panel. The "keyword" are enabled in the "Content" section of the left colum.

  • Last update to Aperture is stuck

I'm on 10.7.4 and that most recent update to Aperture gets stuck in the final step of updating the Aperture library. Everything went fine after the download, fine through the rest of the process. Then when I launch the application, it needs to go through the library update. At that point it hits the last step and gets stuck at 50%. Wont move after that, wont do anything. How can I redownload and reinstall the update?

This "hanging" probably is caused by inconsistencies in your Aperture Library. Then reinstalling the Application will not help.  For most people it helped to force quit Aperture, when it gets stuck while upgrading the library and to rebuild the Aperture library before trying to upgrade again.
To rebuild the Aperture library use the "Aperture library First Aid Tools", see:
