Updated to iCloud from MobileMe

I just updated to iCloud from MobileMe.  Now I get duplicate emails on my iPhone.  Has anyone else encountered this?  Any solutions?

Thank you Roger.
You're right she, somehow, was signed into iCloud under my Apple ID.  The only box checked however was mail hence why my emails were showing up on her log in.
The problem with iCal remains.
I am still able to see all of her calender entries on all my devices.
Any further thoughts?

  • Advice for upgrading to iCloud from MobileMe

I am about to ugrade my 20" Intel iMac (2 GB RAM).  I will also enable iCloud on our iPhone 4S (2 devices in the house) to iCloud and I am seeking advice.  BTW, we are running iOS 5.1.1 on both iPhones.
First off, I have backed-up and cleaned up my iDisk, so that's done.  I have also deleted my MobileMe Photo Albums and Movies (all are backed-up) from my MobileMe Gallery.
Next, I have updated my iWeb site and published it to a folder on my hard drive.  I may/may not have a third party host it ... that is a future decision, but for now, it is "preserved".
Now my question - What advice do you have for me before I embark upon this "upgrade".  Am I missing anything?  Any tips, tricks or pointers you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

My first observation is that your profile states that you are using OSX 10.6.8, iCloud is only included with OSX10.7.2 or better. Perhaps you should consider updating your operating system before moving to iCloud.
Secondly, although you would have had to do them eventually, migrating to iCloud will not stop you using your iDisk, gallery or iWeb hosting space. You can continue to use the services until June 30, 2012.
Finally before making the migration to iCloud from MobileMe, you may wish to back up your MobileMe mail, your contacts and your calendars.

  • My all contacts are available after switching to iCloud from Mobileme.  Please help to restore all my contacts.

I switched from Mobileme to iCloud last night.
My iphone show all contacts properly.
But, I can't see any of contacts from my Mac and pc.
    My all contacts are gone.
Please helpe to restore all my contacts.
I sync my ipone and mac.
    Thanks,
    dolphin

Your signature says you have 10.6.2: is this correct? Lion 10.7.2 is required for syncing with iCloud - you cannot sync your contacts on 10.6.2. All you can do is go to http://icloud.com , select Contacts, click the top contact and then the bottom one while holding the shift key to select them all; click on the cogwheel at bottom left and choose 'Exort vCard'.
Then go to Address Book on your Mac, from the File menu choose 'Import' and select your vCard. This will restore the contacts to your Mac but they will not sync with iCloud.

  • After transition to iCloud from MobileMe, does MM still work on Snow Leopard Macs?

I have an older MacBook Pro that can't be ugraded to Lion. If I transition to iCloud from my MobileMe account, will MobileMe still sync on my Snow Leopard MacBook Pro at the same time my Lion MacPro and iOS5 iPhone sync to iCloud?

    No.
You cannot have both, only one - MM or iCloud. If you go the iCloud route, Snow is out .

    Yes, on both accounts.

  • HT201260 Build 9L31a what do I do to move to icloud from mobileme

Hi, I am trying to move from mobileme to icloud. I do not know if I can with my current MAC OS X version. I have 10.5.8 with Build 9L31a.
    Does anyone know?
    Thanks.

You can't get full iCloud support, but you can view it on the Web, & you can setup Mail to work.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password

  • I have a client that did not migrate to iCloud from MobileMe when the time was right.

I got control of her AppleID and got that working again. I then setup iCloud on her MBP (running 10.7.4). In Outlook, I updated her Mac mail settings to the new iCloud IMAP settings. It returned a "updating IMAP cache" and decremented her mailfolder. After it finished, I expected it to reconnect and re-download her old mail. It did not. The mail is missing. The mail folders present as a brand new account with zero history. Her iPhone is not updated yet, so she can still browse a partial record of what was in that account.
Does anyone have words of wisdom on how to recover from this or how best to get the mail to appear on iCloud?
    Thanks.

As she did not migrate before 1 August the account has been deleted together with all the data in it, including emails and anything which was in the iDisk: this data is not recoverable by any means.
You say the iPhone has a cached copy of some of the emails. Don't update the iPhone to connect to the iCloud account or you will wipe them. You need to move them from being under MobileMe to being held on the phone. Unfortunately as I don't have an iPhone I can't advise on the specific process, but doubtless someone will chip in on this: you could also ask in the iPhone forum.
Once you've got them held locally you can connect the phone to iCloud, and then move them back to being on iCloud.

  • Migrating to iCloud from MobileMe using iPod Touch

Sooooo...... I've finally decided to take the plunge and migrate to iCloud, well now I've been made to!
Having ALOT of problems. I now cant access my email at all, not via the web browser on my pc nor via my ipod touch's mail app.
All I get on the old mobileme site is "@me.com address needed. To use iCloud Mail, create an @me.com address by turning on Mail in your iCloud settings using iOS or OSX."
So off we go to my iPod Touch to try and Turn on Mail in my iCloud settings......
I try to sign into iCloud in Settings, after typing the correct password and login email address, it comes back saying that the details are incorrect!!!!
Then Settings completely freezes up, so I have to exit the Settings app, close it, and then try again, jsut to find the same thing happens each time.
    Any suggestions out there??
    Many Thanks

have you migrated your MM account to iCloud, using http://me.com/migrate or http://www.icloud.com/move ?
In all cases you should be able to login to iOS -> Settings -> iCloud using that old MM Apple-ID.
To access the URLS listed above you must use a Browser on a Computer ( Mac/PC/Linux ) , idevice's Safari  wont let you log in to the web-portals.

  • Any PRO in moving to iCloud from MobileMe before 30 June 2012?

    CON:
    - need for Lion on old mac machines (besides the money, I'd rather wait for next its debugged release)
    - ios5 and Lion slowing down existing (older) machines, including old iphones
    - some of my Apps may not yet work with ios5, as well as some software with Lion)
    - Itunes match not yet operational
    - loose access to Gallery and iDisk (is it so?)
    - not yet syncing documents
    PRO:
    - iMessaging
    - Find myfriends

Your calendar will not sync with iCloud using Snow Leopard, though you may be able to get it working using an unsupported hack.
A good third-party solution is BusyCal, which is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. It can also sync over a local network, so if everyone is on that you can manage without involving the internet at all. A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99 (see note below)*
You will need to set your Mail application up manually to access iCloud email.
The situation with iCloud and Snow Leopard is listed in detail here:
    iCloud and Snow Leopard
*BusyCal say: ''Business Purchases — Businesses should purchase multiple Single User Licenses, not Family Packs. When purchasing multiple Single User Licenses from the BusyMac Store, a 20% discount is automatically applied on purchases of five or more units, and you will receive a single serial number that may be used on each licensed computer.'

  • Appointments disappear in iCal after converting from MobileMe to iCloud

We recently converted to iCloud from Mobileme after upgrading to 10.7.2 and we have lost all of our appointments, both past and future in all calendars, both on the Macs and in iCloud.
When I first converted my machine, I had duplicate and triplicate entries, then after opening iCal for the third or fourth time, all entries dispapeared.  My wife experienced the same thing this morning.
Checked the "Hide" boxes and all are unticked.  If we add a new appointment, it will duplicate and/or disappear.
I have an iPhone and the calendar is empty on that also.  My wife's Mac does not sync with an iPhone or any other device, just iCloud.
Any clues as to what is going on?

It took over an hour and three people, including second level support, but we have an answer.
Basically there is some confusion between the meta data being held on an external server (iCloud and/or Mobile Me) and the local machine.  Here's the SBS for the solution:
In System Preferences, uncheck all syncing in iCloud (pay attention to messages)
    Logout of iCloud
    Logout of Mobile Me
Sever the Internet connection, killing the connection to the external servers
Restore the Calendar data stored in user/library/calendar via Time Machine or other backup source
Open iCal and export all calendars to a backup location (user/documents will do)
    Reconnect the Internet connection
Open System Preferences > iCloud, log back in to iCloud and re-establish syncing for all desired options, including Calendar
Open iCal and import backed up data
Check calendar for accuracy in iCal and iCloud

  • Transfering calendar from MobileMe to icloud.

When I transfered calendar, contacts and mail to icloud from MobileMe the only thing that worked was contacts.  My mail is not working yet.  And iCloud does not recognize my existing calendars from MobileMe.  When I look on Outlook all I see are blank calendars.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to find a third-party alternative - there are a number out there, mostly working rather better than iDisk ever did. This page examines some options:

  • HT204053 I cannot enter calendar events into iCloud from Mail

Since migrating to iCloud from MobileMe I have been unable to add events to iCal necessitating operation of two calendars, one on my Mac and one on iCloud. Also I ended up with two iCloud accounts under different Apple IDs.

When you say you are unable to add events to iCal, what happens when you try?
Also, you mention having two iCloud accounts. You should make sure that all your devices (including Macs) that you want synced together are using the same account.

  • Since moving from MobileMe to iCloud I can't seem to publish the update done on iWeb.

Does anyone know how I could figure out a way to publish my updates on iweb since moving from mobileme (the host) to icloud?
    Thank you,

    Do this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Since I updated to iCloud, Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 has no problems. What's wrong?

Since I updated to iCloud, (which may or may not be related) Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 and my old iMac has no problems. When there is no service a yellow warning triangle appears adjacent to the Inbox and Connection Doctor reports,"Trying to log into this MobileMe IMAP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct."  Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

  • Hello, migration to iCloud is impossible because updating iPhone 3GS from v 3.1.2 to v 5.0 fails

    Hello,
    Here is my configuration
    iPhone 3 GS 16 Go, iOS v 3.1.2
    Airbook Mac OS X v10.6.8
    MobileMe account since 2009
    (all in French)
    Here is the problem
I am trying to migrate from MobileMe to iCloud. Several trials to update the iPhone with iTunes to v5 however failed. Safeguarding iPhone content takes > 6 hours and blocks at about 10 %. Syncing iPhone and Mac is no problem. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Hello Boris,
    >> It implies that I can do an export of my app from the old env (Application Builder -> Export Application) and import it into my new env (Application Builder -> Import Application) and expect everything to work. Is my understanding correct?
Your understanding is almost correct. APEX application is not only the “source code” of the application, which you get upon exporting the application from your original APEX engine. You also need all the supporting objects of the application, on the database level – tables, sequences, stored procedures, and every other database resources your application is using. Those will not be included in the APEX application export file.
After you duplicate the APEX database environment (like the schema that was associated with the APEX workspace), you can import the application, and it all should work just fine.
    Regards,
    Arie.
