Updated to ios 5.1, but all my files are gone? What to do?

I updated my 3rd gen ipod touch to ios 5.1, but all my files and notes that i saved on notes app are gone, I try to restore them in an earlier date, but I still can't get them back, is there another way i can get it back? These notes are very important to me, and it would be best if I can get them back.
My apps are fine, i got them back, but i was hoping if i can get all my old settings and all my old datas back.
Can anyone help me?

Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "no" to creating a backup. (You don't want to overwrite the backup file with blank data.) You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPod. This time, say "yes."

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly. Your contacts will be in whatever program you have chosen to sync. Just sync them back

My folders stills how up, but all my files are gone!

I had a backup of ALL my pictures from the last 5 years and all songs in iCloud Drive, totalizing more than 60gb and it's ALL GONE!
The folders still show up, but they are empty, both in www.icloud.com, my PC, my Mac, my iPad, my iPhone.
It says I have 199gb of free space (I pay for the 200gb plan), it just deleted everything!

Are the Apps still in your iTunes library? If they are simply make sure they are configured to sync to your iPod still. See this article for more details.

All my files are gone and nothing I put on it plays

OK, for some reason (I have no idea how this happenned) ALL my files are gone on my IPod. I have it set up to update manually so I don't know what deleted everything, but it wasn't me. And now whenever i try to play a song/video that i put back on my ipod, it goest to the now playing screen for half a second, then stops and goes back to my menu. So I lost all my files and I can't play new ones. What can i do to fix it and prevent it from happening again?

Restarted Automatically And All my Files are Gone

I have a problem, my laptop
Toshiba Satellite C850 -B253 is automatically restarted and all my files are gone.
From 300gb plus and now 42gb are remain. And worst of that are all my
Microsoft is gone. The Word, Power point and excel in short all are gone. And also my
web cam and another gone is my account. When I open my laptop its preparing something like that and after a few hours lower screen they have quotation

I just updated the new iTunes and now all my playlists are gone!! What the heck?!

All my playlist are gone from itunes with the new update. If I click on "sync" it asks me to erase all my music and videos... Is there a way to avoid doing this? Thanks.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
In the unlikely event that your media has been wiped from your computer see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Upgraded to Yosemite and all my files are gone

I upgraded to Yosemite on my Macbook pro and once it restarted after the install, my desktop was empty and all my documents are gone.
I do have a time machine backup on an external drive but I am hesitant to connect it for fear of losing overriding that data too.
I did get an error that the library need to be repaired so I am wondering if the update did not process correctly

Just Installed Leopard and all my files are GONE!

Yesterday I installed Leopard and now all of my files are gone. I don't remember being asked how I wanted to install it...but on www.apple.com/support, it said that there were options like "Erase and Install." I don't remember choosing that, but if I had, is there any way to restore my files or does it do a zero erase of the hard drive? I don't have anything backed up, so thus far, I have lost 3 term papers that I was in the middle of and don't have anywhere else... Can anyone help?

Even with minor OS patches and updates, I don't rely on "just do it" but verify and repair, backup, and only then apply updates (and lately, waiting a week first).
Stop using that disk.
See if Data Rescue II demo can see anything or not (you should install 10.4.10 on another disk drive and work from there, guess you are now?)
Pre-existing errors that you weren't away of? If anything I've thought for a long time that installers should:
warn about and offer to backup
set a restore point in some manner
verify and repair the boot drive
( and this would be done in Single User Mode behind the back )
updates should be written to disk, but applied on restart, again in Single user mode
No weekly or monthly backup routine or schedule? no DVDs with your photos and papers? not in 3 yrs!!! kind of hard to understand you never heard of backups, or burned a DVD of documents for "safe keeping."

Nothing is in my computer all the files are empty what do I have to do to get it back

while i was downloading the drivers i must have done some thing wrong the next day all my files are empty. and still are i had 4 disc of back up and only two it reconice the thirt one get spat out. I write this on my new computer so that i have the time (and maybe some saved money ) to fix it.

Use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk and reinstall the Mac OS X if necessary.
Lion Recovery can also help you restore your files from a Time Machine backup.

Renamed user all my files are gone

Had an employee leave so we renamed the user for the machine rebooted and now the shortcuts for all the programs are gone from the dock and all the files on the desktop are gone..........

The tab that Roaminggnome is talking about is your "Info" tab. As you can see my contacts and calendars on my iPhone are being synced through iCloud.
I also regularly take an export copy of my contacts and save it separately. This doesn't help you now but it may help you on a go-forward basis.

HT201272 I had Pages and many documents associated with it on my generation 1 ipad. I just got an ipad Air. I downloaded Pages to my new ipad but all my documents are gone. How do I go about getting them back. My old ipad was backed up to my computer.

I am trying to locate my old documents from my generation 1 ipad. I downloaded Pages to my ipad Air but my documents are gone. I did back up my old ipad to my computer but I didn't restore my back up to the new ipad. I wanted to start fresh. How do I go about getting just my Pages documents from that backup and by the way, how do I access that back up?

You will need to restore the backup - just downloading the app from the store won't give you its contents from a preivous device, you will need to restore the whole backup onto your new iPad (which will replace its current contents) to get the app's content.
