Updated to ios 6 and i lose some of my contacts

I have updated my software to ios6 and the process was run succesfully. Unfortunately, i just realized that some of my contacts were lost after that. Anybody have the same problem? How do you resolve it? Is there any chance to have them back?

I know I was very dumb about updating my iphone 4 to ios5 but I lost all the contatcs in my phone (they were not saved on my computer) and am desperate to get them back. I share an apple account with my husband and didn't realize that the iclous would merge his contacts in gmail with mine in gmail but not my contacts in my iphone. Now I have a few hundred email addresses in my phone but no telephone numbers. I tried some of the solutions offered like changing a surname in messages but none have worked thus far. I have turned off icloud for the time being.
Is there a possibility that my old contacts are still in my phone somehow???
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. (and yes, I know now that we need seperate icloud IDs and apple accounts. sigh. )

I had this problem too, I fixed it by going to my settings and under general at the bottom there is a reset option, go there. One of the options should be reset network settings, select that one. I’m not sure why it happens but that worked for me; hope you have the same luck!

This could be from having restrictions enabled. Icons completely disappear when "restricted"

If it's showing the connect to iTunes screen then you will need to do that.
But Apple don't provide any method to update the first gen iPad to iOS 5 (nor do they support downgrading the iOS version).

An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. Just updated to IOS 5 and I lost voicemails that I saved and wanted and some apps that I also had and paid for. I synced my phone before beginning the update and now have lost the information. Any idea how to get it back? Anyone?

I have a similar issue happenning with my ipod touch 64GB running IOS 6.0.1. My music content is stored via itunes on my Snow Leopard macbook pro as well (and not in the cloud). The music on my ipod (which is sync'd to my macbook pro when I connect via usb) has randomly disappeared about 3 or 4 times lately, not during sync'ing and unrelated to battery charge levels. Fortunately I have been able to restore it by restarting my macbook pro then re-syncing the ipod, which it is now doing as I write, but it takes hours (for over 3000 songs). Having looked at a few other forum discussion pages, it seems this may be a bug related to IOS 6 updates and using music/itunes and podcast playing apps. The same thing has intermittently occurred with some other content such as downloaded podcasts, iplayer content and photos. Once I reconnected the ipod it synced and apparently restored the content, but I can't understand why it lost it in the first place, and its very annoying. Lets hope the reinstalling works on my ipod tonight....up to 248 of 3326 songs syncing as I write....

The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music. I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
Anyone have any ideas?

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. This happened to me as well. I read somewhere else that resetting the network settings (General, Reset, Reset Network Settings) would help and it partially did. I get half (the folders) of the Web Access screen rather than a blank screen. I tried tihs a few more times and got the right half (the messages) on occasion but never the whole web page.

Group messaging simply puts all replies in one conversation in Messages. It doesn't prevent the behavior you experienced.
My suggestion which would be much easier in my opinion, is rather than do a text, send out an email and use bcc: , which will keep the audience hidden from each recipient.
Otherwise, if you're determinted to do only texts, the only way is to send your message to one person at a time. You can of course copy/paste your msg each time which might be helpful.

The same thing happened with me. I was updating my husband's iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, and it lost his calendars and contacts. When I did the update, I let it do a sync and backup first.
Since that time, I tried to do a restore, and it only saw a back up from October, 2010. Where are backups stored? Are they invisible files on the mac? His laptop is a 13" macbook running 10.6.8.

My iPhone 3GS is getting the same error. I've called Apple a bunch of times, and they won't get back to me. I'm searching through discussions to figure out a solution.

I tried what you said but it still didn't help.
It only affects some of my apps other apps are fine.
For some reason in some of my apps the iPad, time and battery icons get bigger on the top of my screen so I can't see the top of the app page which effects some of the games and applications.
Is there any way to turn these icons off on the top of the screen?

Updated to iOS 5 and tried sending a message with a phot to an iPhone that has not been updated. My message shows as sent, but neither the text or photo are received. Text alone works fine.

This is being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On all but one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On all of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".
