This happened twice with a reboot in between. Finally had to roll back to a previous restore point and all is fine now, except--no new version of Firefox. I'll wait to see more feedback about 3.6.4 before trying to install again.

Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

Premiere Pro and After Effects running very slowly
Hi all,
I realise that this is a commonly asked question and there are many other threads about it, but as each situation seems so unique, I've given up trawling for answers through other threads (as most of the technical jargon is thoroughly beyond me ) and figured I'd just start my own thread detailing my personal issues with the programmes.
Basically, PP and AE have both suddenly started to run unbelievably slowly. I haven't done much video work for quite a while now (not for a few months), but when I did in the past it always ran reasonably smoothly. However now I am trying to edit some HD video, not a huge amount, but around 4 minutes worth. I am then replacing the clips with AE compositions for more creative editing. It seems as though everytime I try to move a clip, or replace a clip or do just about any changes, no matter how slight, I get the spinning wheel of death and it can take minutes just to load a clip or even move it! One of the longest lags I timed was around fifteen minutes. Playback is virtually impossible. Sound will play, but the video is so incredibly laggy, or simply non existent so it's almost pointless to try. And don't even get me started on the lag when importing through AE and back!
I am editing on a 2011 iMac. I have a terabyte harddrive with around 342GB of free space.
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

That's odd that you were able to edit before and are now having trouble.
Have you done any updates to your system?
Are you using different footage?
When you move a clip, what happens? Do you get the Spinning Beachball?
Are any effects on the clips?
Are you using the Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration?

After installing iOS 6.1.3 it is sometimes necessary to reboot the iOS devices by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
To lengthen battery life, turn off the radio services, that is Bluetooth, Cellular Data Roaming, Mail Push, that you don't need or make the mail push time longer and less frequent.
Make sure brightness control is auto so the screen will dim when not needed to be bright.
Periodically go the the recents dock, double click the home button, and dismiss the recents by holding until they shake and a red circle with a minus sign appears attached to each app...touch the red circle to dismiss.
See if those things help your battery charge life. -
I just updated my IOS to 7.1 and now I can't open Microsoft attachments - I used to always do it. Help - I use my iPad for work and now can't see any attachments. I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

I updated the ios on my ipod touch. Now when I browse the itunes store on my ipod, it only allows a very brief visit before automatically closing me out. I have to go back into the store and begin searches etc all over again. Is this a setting or a problem that is randomly occuring? I use to look for hours. Any thoughts?

Unable to update my iOS on my iPad and iPhone.
I am unable to update my iOS on my iPad and iPhone. Though I have had these devices and have been updating for over a year, the issue just started with this new release (iOS 5.1).
When I connect my Pad and Phone to iTunes (Windows PC with Vista), I am told that an update is available. When I update, iTunes tries to connect to a server. Then I receive the message, "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The network connection could nopt be established."
When I try to update the devices iOS using WiFi directly (not connected to iTunes). The devices say, "Checking for Update..." and does not connect. It says, "Unable to check for update...An error occurred while checking for a software update...Cancel or Try Again"I solved this by downlading the iOS update via wi-fi at another location other than my home. I would still like to know why this download did not work at my home as it has for over a year. I have made no changes in my firewall or security settings.

Updated to IOS 5.0.1 and now if I tap on a game icon instead of opening the game a grayish color comes over it and nothing happens. How can I get my games to work again?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
i updated to ios 5.1.1 and added icloud services. the problem is now whenever i connect my iphone to my PC, itunes does not recognize my phone. i need it to but it just does not connect..
Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. Yu can make an appointment at the the Genius Bar of an Apple store or try:

I have the original iPhone 5 (the one released before 5C & 5S) and when I updated to iOS 8 everything was working well and it was great! Last night I updated to iOS 8.0.2 and it does the complete opposite of what it was supposed to do! I lost my cellular connection! It keeps saying "Searching..." in the top left hand corner of my phone where my cellular network is supposed to be. What's going on Apple? Why did I lose my cellular connection when the update was supposed to "fix" lost cellular connections for the iPhone 6. If the update was supposed to fix a higher leveled phone then why was my lower leveled phone affected??? I need answers and I need proper help to deal with this ordeal.
I ALSO just updated my brand new iphone 6 to 8.0.2, and I ALSO had my cellular service BRICKED.
All I get on the signal meter is Verizon 1x. Every so often 3G would popup and you could send a text (no calls though) but it's gone in seconds. So I can't send texts or make phone calls.
This phone worked immediately before the update and stopped working immediately after the update.
My neighbor has a iphone 5S. He updated to 8.0.2 lat week and had no problems UNTIL just this morning, when his phone stopped working - no cellular voice or data. He downgraded back to ios 8.0 but his cellular service never came back.
Called verizon - was told there were no service outages and then I got transferred to tech team.
Tech team had do all the Apple troubleshooting steps but nothing more. So they said "take it back."
So this BRAND NEW iPhone 6 phone is BRICKED because of iOS 8.0.2.
