Updated to Maverick, iPhoto no longer supported

Just updated to OS X, now iPhoto will no longer work.
When I click on the icon it says 'You can't use this version of the application iphoto with the version of OS X. You have iPhoto 9.2.3'.
Have tried updating iPhoto throught The App Store this doesn't work as my Macbook came preinstalled with iPhoto, Garageband etc.
When I try 'Software Update' it says all software is up to date.
Please help!!
Version 10.9.2
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Thanks
Caroline

Hello caz_hallett
Check out the article below that will address that specific issue. Check in the privacy pane of Spotlight to make sure that indexing has been disabled. The Mac App Store should recognize the apps and update it so that the Mac App Store should see it to update it there.

How Come, after updating to ios 6 iPhoto no longer supports photo streaming? What happened?

You probably just need to re-enable Photo Stream. It's not clear what the difference is, but there is an option to enable Photo Stream (as well as Shared Photo Stream) in both the iCloud Settings and the Photos & Camera Settings.

After updating to Mavericks MAIL no longer issues a "whoosh" sound when sending mail.  Can I get it back?

If restarting did not resolve the issue, open Mail Preferences and make sure the box next to "Play sounds for other mail actions" is checked.

I found the solution to a Mavericks bug on the Mail program. How can I share it? Several of my mail boxes stopped functioning properly when I updated to Mavericks. The title of the mails stored in the mailbox appear, but the content was unavailable.
After 4 long hours at the phone with the Apple staff unable to help me, I discovered that if I change the name of the mailbox, the contents of the mails stored there become available.
Please, make this solution available to other people!

You have found the the way to share it.   Include your problem and its solution in a forum post in the Mavericks forums.   Then mark you own post with a green solved star.
Note.  You won't get any points for that; points are only awarded where you mark someone else's post as either helpful or solved.

That is true.   PPC apps cannot be used with 10.7, 10.8 or 10.9 OS systems.  You may need to buy the new iPhoto app from the app store, depending on what you upgraded to Mountain Lion from.
This discussions link will clarify the situation.

  • Updated to Mavericks, iPhoto won't update

I recently updated to Mavericks and have updated all of the apps that were ready for updates. I updated iPhoto but when I open it it still looks like the old version. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've restarted my computer several times, nothing is working. I'm using a 13 inch late 2009 MacBook (NOT pro), I'm thinking iPhoto 9.5 may be incompatible with my computer.

When I installed it on mine, I had to remove the icon from my dock bar and then go into the Applications folder and take the new one and drag that onto the dock bar to get it to load properly.  It looks like the new icon and loads up the new version.  However, there isn't really much as far as looks in the new version they didn't change a whole lot.  When you click on iPhoto in the menu bar and click on "About iPhoto" what version does it say you have?

  • Does updating to maverick take a long time?

Does updating to Maverick OS take a long time?

When I frist installed it (not counting download time which was about 30 minutes) I believe that the actual installation time was about 50 minutes. First reading was "About 35 minutes..." I think, but, in total, it took about 50 minutes.
Your actual time may vary, depending on your machien configuration.

  • Update 1.0.2 no longer support h.264?

I just want to know if my iphone is the only one not supporting h.264. Before the updates, I was able to import a h.264 movie. Now when I try the same movie with 1.0.2. itunes says could not copy, format not supported on iphone.
If this is the case, that's cool, I just don't want to rack my mind trying to figure it out. Mpeg 4 works fine.
    Anyone?

probably a format thing. even though H264 it may not be the right one. certain h264 settings and combos of codecs don't work. my guess is try formating differntly under the h264 codec.

  • Since Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.03 Aperture no longer supports by 20D CR2 images. Is this a known problem? And when it going to be fixed?

Has anyone else run into this problem since the update?

The Raw support for Canaon EOS 20D is built directly into the Mac OS X, since Mac OS X Lion, see:
OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757
OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
This is independent of Aperture. What is the problem? Do you get "unsupported image format" error messages?

  • I have an original version of the IPad.  Can this be updated or is it no longer supported.  Do I need to buy an new IPad?  This one still works great!

Is the original IPad still able to be updated?

If your original iPad does everything you want it to do there is no need for you to purchase a new iPad. But if you find there are apps you want to use that are not available to you because the iOS on your iPad is too low then, yes, a new iPad would solve that problem.

  • Iphone 3G no longer supported??

    Hello
The Iphone 3G is no longer supported by Apple?? since the latest os update the iphone 3G no longer supports...anyone from Apple an answer??

I can understand no more updates for 3G cause of its hardware. What I however am having troubles with is that since IOS 4.2.1. the ipod function in my Volvo is rendered useless. See this topic "http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2657752&start=90&tstart =0"
Now I'm not interested in any new gadgets like gamecenter, wireless printing or whatever. I bought my Iphone as a replacement of my Ipod so I'd have phone and Ipod in one. Since IOS 4.3 it is working again. Like I said, new functions don't interest me, I just want the basic ones to work. How hard can it be to issue a 4.2.2 update for 3G users with this fix. It worked on 4.1 it works on 4.3 but it doesn't on 4.2.1.
I'm not intrested in a iphone 4 since my old 3G does the job just fine and hence I see no reason what so ever to spend 700plus Euro's to replace something is ok. Just fix what has obviously been broken by apple.

when updating my ipad air to iOs 8 my 2 albums on iphoto were deleted since iphoto is no longer supported. Anyone similar experiences? Any chance to get back my albums (not only the pictures, but the actual album with text etc)?

This blur below copied from here. I made the text bold for emphasis.
Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8 - Apple Support
The following data will migrate from iPhoto to Photos.
Any photos in your iPhoto library that aren't already in Photos are added.
Image adjustments you made in iPhoto are migrated to Photos.
If you applied image adjustments to photos synced to your iOS device from iTunes, a duplicate of each photo will be created in Photos with adjustments applied.
Photos hidden in iPhoto do not appear in the Years, Moments, or Collections views in Photos, but are placed in an album titled Hidden.
Photo Books, Web Journals, and Slideshows are converted into regular albums in Photos. Text and layouts are not preserved.
Only projects created on the device performing the migration will be converted. Projects you synced from other devices to iPhoto via iCloud must be converted from the devices on which they were created.
Photos marked as Favorites in iPhoto are marked as Favorites in Photos.
Tags and captions from iPhoto are not displayed in Photos, but you can use them as search terms and they will show up respectively as Keywords and Titles in Photos search results.
Flags from iPhoto are converted to the keyword Flagged.

  • After updating to Mavericks "Power PC applications are no longer supported" when I try to open AppleWorks6, Microsoft Word, and Illustrator CS

after updating to Mavericks a window pops up saying "Power PC applications are no longer supported" when I try to open AppleWorks6, Microsoft Word, and Illustrator CS.  How can I access my files. Secondly, is there a way to allow these programs to function?

    MichelPM wrote:
I use those terms primarily for users who seem not too computer savvy as explaining and going through the procedures can be daunting to a user who doesn't do much more than just being able to install and use software on a basic or novice level.
That is why I wrote the "Installing Snow Leopard Server into Parallels for DUMMIES" guide, to give a literal step by step instruction set on how to use Parallels in this situation for a basic or novice level user on up!

Quite honestly, a step by step guide to install Windows into Parallels could be needed by some basic or novice users, as well!
My point is to not scare aware a user with a problem where a potential solution exists.
This is especially true because some of the few, but vocal, "naysayers" about this approach would use your statements to validate their continued criticism of it.
One guy in particular criticises every option other than upgrading to Mavericks compatible software, even when the OP clearly expresses a problem where that option does not exist! ... and he was an early and very vocal proponent of the "installing Snow Leopard into a new partition - 'dual-booting' solution" when Lion was first released back in 2011!
