Updated to OS X 10.8.2 - getting the OS X Utilities?

I recently updated my late 2011 MBP to OS X 10.8.2, and upon restarting I got OS X Utilities. Okay, deep breath. I don't have Time Machine (though now I desperately wish I did.) so I started with Disk Utility which states that "Disk Utility can't repair this disk, please backup all of your files and yada-yada-yada." My heart has just about stopped. So I continued on to Reinstall OS X, which states that I can't reinstall to my disk because it is locked! I don't know what has happened, it was working just fine until I updated, and now I can't access my computer at all which is a big deal for a college student. Help! Someone! Anyone! Even if I have to back it up, how do I do so from the OS X Utilities screen?? I'm desperate at this point.

First off you DO Have Time Machine. It is included with every install of OS X. All you needed to use it was an External drive of a size bigger then your internal drive.
About your only option now is to Buy an External drive and then Install OS X on that so you can boot the computer.
You do that, after you buy an extrernal drive and connect it to the system by holding down the Command+Option+r key at startup, and hold them down until you see a spinning globe in the center of the screen and have the computer wired to your internet router. That boot the computer from over the internet and gives you the Internet Recovery system.
From there you can install Lion on the external and then boot the computer from that external. Then you may be able to access your personal files on the internal drive and copy them over to the external drive. After and if you can do that then you do the same thing again and this time you WIPE/ERASE/REPARTITION the internal drive and reinstall OS X on that.
Then of course you will need to reinstall all your programs and restaore all your personal files to the internal.

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
First try updating to iTunes 11.1.5.5, using an installer downloaded from the Apple website:

Because you need to buy iLife 08 or newer on DVD first. If you're using iDVD 05, you probably have a PowerPC Mac and can't use iLife 11.

Anyway, i just want to get the applications back onto my computer. i tried to enter the serial numbers on my original packaging but systems side error message from Adobe says they were already "redeemed" (which makes sense bc I already downloaded the updates. Apparently there is no phone customer service for Creative Suite anymore. ARRGGG. Any and all suggestions welcome!

there is no update from 5.5. to 6.0.
you could have upgraded from 5.5 to 6.0, but you would know that because you paid money.
assuming you paid no money for a 6.0 upgrade, you still have your 5.5 license. uninstall clean and reinstall 5.5 per http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

I have been into computers for about 25 years now and it really ticks me off that after all these years these companys can not put out something that works. You are right the Iphone is locked into the carrier softbank from Japan and its not the 3g model its the one before it, I am not sure what model.
If your iPhone is not the 3G model - it is the one before that, this means your iPhone is the first generation iPhone or the original iPhone, which WAS NOT sold officially by Apple in Japan. The first generation iPhone was sold officially by Apple in the U.S. as carrier locked with AT&T, in the UK as carrier locked with O2, in Germany as carrier locked with T-Mobile, and in France as carrier locked with Orange and as officially unlocked by Orange. The ONLY country where the first generation was sold as officially unlocked was in France, which is required by French law.
The original iPhone - the one before the 3G was not sold by Apple in Japan directly or through Softbank.
Did you purchase your iPhone from Softbank or from an Apple store in Japan ? If so, this would also mean your iPhone is carrier locked with Softbank since the iPhone is sold in Japan officially as carrier locked with Softbank only, and this would be the 3G or 3GS, not the original iPhone. This would also mean you are roaming internationally with Softbank with your iPhone in China. If you are using a SIM card from a carrier in China with your iPhone, your iPhone has been hacked to be unlocked unless you purchased your iPhone from an unofficial source in Japan which was sold originally as new officially in France as officially unlocked by the carrier Orange in France.

Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

HT4796 i have successfully migrated the music but it just shows up in my files and has not updated my iTunes library which is still getting the music from iCloud and is not using the migrated files. Any ideas?

I have successfully used windows migration software to move my music library from a PC to my MacBook Air.
However the music files are just stored in my file system and have not updated my itunes files. Itunes is still getting the music down from icloud instead of using the music files.

If you're using Windows Movie Maker and HP Photo to build slide shows, this is not an iPod touch issue (nor an iTunes issue), so I'd suggest you take up the problem on a web site that deals with Movie Maker or HP Photo issues. It's really not something we can help with in this forum.
If you're building this slide show on your iPod, please post back and tell us what app(s) you're trying to use, and whether the iPod app on your iPod touch shows and plays your songs correctly. Knowing the specific model of iPod you have and the version of iOS it's running will probably also help.

After updating to firefox 7.0.1, I get the error "Sync encountered an error while connectiong: Incorrect account name or password. Please try again."

This was working just fine until the update. I did the reset password. It says it is reset, but when I exit firefox and restart, I get the same error. I've put in the new password and get the same error. This almost looks like my account was deleted from the sync server, but when i do the reset password, everything says it is ok. But Firefox keeps giving me this error.

I have tried to install at different times over three different days with the same result each time. My version of Bridge now no longer shows DNG files except as an icon. The update is supposed to install Camera Raw version 9.

I had the 204 version of your error using the direct download links proved on this thread solved my problem.. hope you have same success... had to log off/in cloud manager before it showed all apps updated
