Updated to Server 3.0.2 - Updating process stuck

I'm updating from Server 3.0.1 to Server 3.0.2 and the process seems to be stuck. It's been sitting for about an hour.
I can bring up individual services using the serveradmin command line tool (and I've got the Wiki and Xcode services running) but the Server.app tool won't ever launch, it just keeps getting stuck again. If I try Server.app on a different machine to connect remotely, it cannot see the server.
Any ideas? It seems to be a failure in the administration services if I can get collaboration/wiki/Xcode up, but I'm not sure how to debug that.

I had the same issue with the 3.0.2 update. I found a solution for my system and maybe this will work for you too. Most server settings were retained, read this entire post before you proceed.
Make sure you have a good backup before you start. Use Carbon Copy Cloner or somethingn similar to have a duplicate that you can boot from if this messes things up.
In Finder, move the Server.app from /Applications to the Trash. This will prompt the system to say that moving the Server.app to the trash will terminate all server services. The move will require an admin password verification.
In Finder, navigate to the /Library directory and locate the Server folder. Rename the Server folder, I named mine "Server_Old".
Restart the Mac for good measure.
After you log back in, drag the Server.app from the Trash back to the Applications folder and launch the Server.app. It will run through the update to v3.0.2 again, but shouldn't hang up this time.
This was the fix for my system, running better now than when I upgraded to Mavericks. After the Mavericks update, I couldn't run Device Management, Profile Management, Wiki or anything needing psql. This fixed it all.
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF...
Open Directory and Profile Manager all retained their users and settings.
I wasn't running DHCP on this server, but DNS server configuration was completely gone. Had to redo all DNS entries, if there are a lot of DNS entries in your server you may want to try to recover them from the /Library/Server_Old folder and move the DNS files back into the new /Library/Server folder. I feel like DHCP would also be blank.
Caching server had to be turned on, settings had to be redone. Lucky there aren't many options to consider here.
Software Update server had to be turned on, settings had to be redone. Not many options to consider, so no big deal.
File Sharing had to be turned on, but all previous shares were still setup.
Netinstall had to be turned on, but all previous settings were retained.
Time Machine had to be turned on, but all previous settings were retained.
These are the only services I run, so you may have other things to consider. Good luck.

So, I have a large database (~400GB--been meaning to split it out into smaller dbs for a while but haven't taken the time to figure out how to yet). Tried to update it last night, and after the initial 10 step update process which went by after a few minutes, saw an error that there were inconsistencies and that Aperture needed to restart. I clicked ok, but it never restarted and instead began to update my library picture by picture. It's been stopped at 27649 of 130340 for a long time now, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. Activity monitor doesn't show any life (1.1 percent of CPU constantly and no change in RAM usage). I know people have said not to force quit, but I'm not seeing another option here. But even if I do force quit, I'm not sure what my next steps should be.

With 130,000 images in your library, and the fact that Aperture is using CPU (albeit a small amount), my suggestion is to wait another 12 hours or so, if you can afford to. If you force quit, you'll be doing more work down the road and it will take just as long.

Nokia N8 Belle update process stuck, help!

I am on product code 0599399, updated my Ovi suite to Nokia Suite 3.3.86 and started the process to download and update my N8 running on anna to belle. It finished downloading the large update file and went through the process of backing up my contents and after that i got an error message "Something went wrong" Next screen it tells me that "Your phone is restarting" (with a couple of warning messages) but i have been on this screen for at least 45mins now without any progress. My phone is still behaving as per norm but i'm not sure about what to do next. It doesn't seem like it had started the process of updating my phone yet but i'm being given instructions not to touch the phone or even disconnect the cable, Help, what do i do? Has anyone else experienced this?

Comes a point that you will have to disconnect, but depends upon whether you are left with a black screen and device left in "flashing mode" in which case Nokia Care Point would have to recover device fror you.

So I found out with alittle research that instead of entering all that info on my ipod, security questions, birthday, ect that it was much easier to just go to http://appleid.apple.com and place all that info there and save it than try the process on my ipod and it finished the update.

There's a error occured during the updating process

when the updating process goes to the "calculating the required diskspace" step, there's a error occured saying "Could not access network location /startup" and then the updating process was suspended.
this problem also occured during the unistallation process.
P. S. there's only one solution about this problem, which is to delete the information of excrescent version of MS OFFICE, but this isn't working.
So if anyone konws how to solve this problem please let me know. this borthers me for a long time.

ClamXAV running its update process insecurely?

I'm using ClamXAV to provide a bit of extra peace of mind when downloading files [such as pdf documents] from unfamiliar websites. When I was analyzing my network traffic though I saw that the freshclam process [where clamxav downloads its most recent malware signatures] is running with the User designated as root and is connecting to the clamav signature server over an unencrypted http connection.
Two questions here:
1. Why would the freshclam process need to be running under the root user? Is there any particular justification for that?
2. If it's running as root, wouldn't there be somewhat of a security concern with a root process receiving inputs from an unencrypted network connection?

I'm not sure where you are seeing that as the only choices I see for LS process owner categories are System, Me and and Anyone. Since the user clamav doesn't fit either of the last two, I suspect LS shows anything else as System.
Do you know of a terminal command that could display the designation of the freshclam process?
I'm sure I could come up with one but you would have to time your request carefully to catch it since freshclam only runs during the actual update process and if you are already up-to-date it becomes very short.
I find it easier to use Activity Monitor, filter on "clam" without quotes and you should be able to see all processes associated with ClamXav come up. freshclam shows _clamav in the User column for me.
The Terminal command to determine ownership of the process is:
ls -l /usr/local/clamXav/share/clamav/ | grep freshclam

Is that possible there was the field ZDATE in your form interface/ context and now it is not? I guess some source has changed so the field in the form (binding to the not existing field) cannot be processed. Otto

I could be wrong but maybe change the hidden items to be like:
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(05,DECODE(CHF_STATUS,'DEV',1,0),'','f05_' || ROWNUM)
APEX_ITEM.HIDDEN(08,DECODE(CHF_STATUS,'RVW',1,0),,'','f08_' || ROWNUM)

Also, you have
DECODE (CHF_STATUS,'DEV',ROWNUM)instead of
DECODE (CHF_STATUS,'DEV',0,1)in the checkboxes, as I would expect.
I'm also not sure why you need to duplicate the checkboxes (f07,f10,f13) as hidden items (f05, f08, f11) if they are both 0/1 values.

Update process does not work on Tabular Form

if this is your tabular form

...Then you will only ever update records that have been checked. Unchecked checkboxes are not passed back in the global array. You need to have a hidden column with the ID's for the record and loop through that when you are updating/inserting. That is why the built in tabular form has a MRU and a MRD. the MRU loops through the hidden ID column. The MRD loops through the checkbox.

You will need to hold down the power + sleep button, wait for restart, then hold home. iTunes should then be in DFU mode. Once in DFU mode connect to iTunes and click "Restore". PRESTO!

Missing iPhone backup in iTunes from iOS5 update. What happens to the backup files from the update process?

My PC had a BSOD while restoring my data. After I restarted, opened iTunes, and connected my phone, the restore did not resume. (I have seen the restore process resume after an interruption.) I tried to manually restore the data, but iTunes does not list the backup that was taken during the update process. Is this backup stored in a different location or format? Is there a way I can get my data back? I tried an extraction tool from the web and it didn't detect the backup from the update.

Same with me; I only found one backup dating back from august; tried that and works fine. But missing all my pics/vids in between. I have been searching my pc for files that were created on the day of the OS upgrade, but could not figure out any backups...

You cannot. You can only upgrade to the currently supported version of the iOS which, at this time is iOS 7.0.2.
