Updated to Yosemite OSX 10.10 - Dreamweaver CS6 demands Old Java 6!

When I updated to Yosemite  (OS X 10.10) on my Mac recently I found that Photoshop CS6 works without an issue. However, Dreamweaver CS6 does not. When you start it, the program demands that you load a legacy JAVA SE 6.  Is this right?  Why?
Java is already a very unstable and very insecure environment anyway. Experts all around the world are adamant about keeping it updated because they fix security issues almost every day.  Yosemite comes with the latest version of Java, so WHY would Adobe continue to mandate the install of an older, more insecure version of JAVA.
I know that you can fix the problem by installing the JAVA-2014-100 software, but that's NOT the point. Why wouldn't Adobe put a patch in to at least make it compatible with the current version?
Is there a way to run DW CS6 without installing the JAVA 6 legacy?
Thanks!

Oracle's archive site is only place I know to get JAVA 6.
But please look into any security vulnerabilities as it is no longer getting updates.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 uses old, deleted files: How can I get rid of them?

    Hi Everyone,
this is my first posting... I have a problem that is really annoying. Using Dreamweaver CS6 on a Win-7-64bit desktop computer, I had external help for transferring a website into html5 and CSS3. When the site was nearly done, I imported the whole site and worked on it by myself using Dreamweaver CS6. This worked well, until I had external help again in the index.html file. I imported the new index.html file that was worked on externally, but dreamweaver does not allow this: It keeps showing the old index.html file that I had deleted before, even when I try to re-import the site etc. In the web, I found that it might be helpful to remove the file history using regedit. I did that, and also tried my very best to remove every remnant from the old version, aftzer that, used CCleaner and Tuneup Utilities 2014, and again, this did not help. I then thought the only way would be de-installing Dreamweaver CS6, again cleaning my whole computer for any probably remaining filed or .bak files, and then after several re-starts and cleaning processes, I re-installed Dreamweaver CS6, in the hope it would work now. However, Dreamweaver again came up with the same problem. Somewhere in the mists of the harddisk, dramweaver still must have access to long deleted files, and again does not allow me to work on the new corrected index.html file. Does anyone of you have an idea how I can get this working properly? Thanks sincerely in advance, and best regards from the Salzburg Lake District, Giraldus

Something seriously strange is happening on your system.
You deleted the index.html file from your machine and DW is somehow still opening it?
Can you have both the new and old one open at the same time within Dreamweaver?
If so, go into Source View and copy all the code from the new one. Highlight and delete the code from the old file and paste the new code in. Hit Save on the old file.
If that doesn't fix the issue, you'll need to contact your IT guy to have the wombats cleared out of your system. DW only works with the files on your hard drive, it doesn't store them, so if you've tried to delete something and DW can still see it, it's still on your system (the deletion attempt failed). You may have some kind of permissions issue or something more serious going wrong with your OS.

  • After updated to yosemite, I cannot open Dreamweaver.

It says I need to install Java SE6 to run Dreamweaver again.
Is it ok to just download it and install it? Does this old patch affect my new OS Yosemite by covering new patch?

Download and install Apple Java 2014-001. It is OK and will not harm Yosemite.

You need to install Java SE 6 to run those programs. There has been quite a bit of discussion here about that. Something at one of these links should get you going...

That could be the problem. If you actually mean DWCS6 and not DWCC 2014.1.1 when you say "latest" (check out Help > About Dreamweaver for your actual version) it requires the older Java SE 6 to be installed on the Mac. See if reinstalling it helps...

If you're using DWCC 2014 and updated your OS after having DW installed, you may need to reinstall to work out the kinks. Using the Cleaner Tool from Adobe to reinstall will give you a completely fresh installation...

  • Dreamweaver cs6, Yosemite and Java

I use Dreamweaver CS6 on my Mac, but after upgrading to Mac OS Yosemite it refuses to launch. A popup tells me to reinstall the older version 6 of Java. Is that recommendable or is there a upgrade of Dreamweaver available?

You can update the Java and Dreamweaver will mostly work.
The Live feature has been failing since the Yosemite update.

  • Since updating to Yosemite and CS6 2 of my print options are greyed out on my epson R2880 print pane?

My colour and colour settings options are 'greyed out' on my  Epson printer pane since updating to Yosemite and CS6,this happened before after running a software update on the printer driver! The driver version at that time was 6.62 and now it has updated to version 9.00....could this be the problem??

That's strange ... did you try restarting before printer install? You also may need to delete the printer itself (System Preferences > Printers & Scanners) and add it again , in order to access the proper drivers (?)
Can you show screen shot(s) of your incomplete print dialog?

  • Error on installing updates to Dreamweaver CS6

I am running Dreamweaver CS6 v12.0 and I was checking to see if there were any updates available. I located three of them on the downloads page and proceeded to try to install the  next version up from mine.  It downloaded and I ran the installer, however I'm getting an error: Dreamweaver CS6 12.0.1 update to address critical issues Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7.  This number is not listed in the possible causes for this, so does anyone know what it is I need to do to get this to work?  I also tried to download another of the updates but that would not even download. Any help would be appreciated.

Graphicedge I would recommend reviewing the installation logs to determine the exact cause of the update failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

That type of file doesn't exist until you export it out of DW.
Go to Site > Manage Sites > click the site you want to export the ftp info for > Export
That will create a .ste file that will allow you to import all of the site settings on another installation of DW.
If you're just looking to edit the information, you do that under Site > Manage Sites >  click the site you want > Edit > Servers > click the server you want to edit (testing or remote) > Edit

  • Updates to the non-cloud version of dreamweaver cs6

I have the non cloud version of Adobe Dreamweaver cs6 version 12.0 Build 5861
Is there an update for this?  I see that there are some for the cloud version.  Are they only updating that, and the folks that bought the CD are out of luck?
Looking like maybe there was some phonegap updates that might be useful plus some other small issues I have might have been fixed?

The last patch/bug fix released for CS6 on perpetual license was 12.03 update which can be obtained from the link below:

That's all there is. No further updates are expected.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 - update Links

    Hello
to make the story short,  i have started building my web site with dreamweaver cs6.
i create the first page of my web site then I saved the file alot of time to make my contact, product .....
know i started to link the "home, contact button and everything else"
but its not updating on all of the pages,
isn't it suppose to update on all the web page?
maybe i am doing something wrong .
    any help will be appriciated
    thanks alot

Unless your pages are created from a Template page (.dwt extension), then you will ahve to go into each individual page and manually correct the links to point to the correct resource. A Template page allows you to create a "template" that the rest of the pages of your site will be based off of. Within the template you define areas for page content (the areas where each page will be different). Then you start creating pages based off the template. Whenever you make a change to theTemplate, all the child pages based off that template will get updated (except the areas you defined for page content). When editing pages based off a template, you'll notice grayed-out areas of code - this is code that's locked down by the template and can't be edited within the child pages.
But before using Dreamweaver Template pages, please review the Dreamweaver help files and read about them - we have many people come to these forums who have gotten very lost trying to use templates so please do read and learn about them before using them.

Upgraded to OS 10.10.1 (Yosemite) and now the "Live" function in Dreamweaver (CS6) crashes the software. Help!!!! How do I fix this???

You could try clearing the program cache and/or restoring preferences...

The "Nuke it from orbit", you don't generally do this until other options have failed, option is...
