Updated torch to 7.1 bundle 2061

I just updated my torch 9810 to 7.1 bundle 2061. Hopefully had no trouble and all is working fine. There are new programs added like Application resource monitor ( best for battery saving) and media server. Figuring out what media server is ?
Any new features you guys found that isnt said please let me and the other know it
thanks

Did your carrier include Wi-Fi Hotspot in that bundle?  It might not be a big deal to you but if you're ever with a group of friends in an area with no Wi-Fi and they have their iPods.......guess who becomes the instant hero?
Cheers.

    Help
    I can't download the update version 7.1.0 bundle 1149
    a message pops up saying
'insufficient memory to download files. 86.0 mb of personal data from device memory is required but there is only 74.6 mb Delete 11.3 mb of personal data and the resume download'
but I have deleted all my emails and all my text messages and most of my photos and this still comes up! Help what do I do! Xx

    Hello,
I cannot tell for sure, but if you are attempting this update via the device "wireless update" method, then I recommend you STOP! That is a very risky, IMHO, method of doing an update...the OTA update takes an on-device backup of your data, from which it restores after the update succeeds. But, if for any reason, the update should fail, then that backup file is forever lost...along with all of your data.
Rather, the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.
If this method still presents you with a similar error, then there are other means to still accomplish the OS update.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Update from 7.1.0 Bundle 722 to 2102

My wife's phone shows that she needs to update to 7.1.0 Bundle 2102 but when she tries on her device it says she has to do it via the desktop.... and when she does it there it says she is alrady update with 7.1.0 Bundle 2102... Thank you for any advice.
On a side note.... I have Googlr Maps Ver 4.5.3 but she cannot use it, it says her Enterprise server does not allow this... we do not have enterprise server and I my Google Maps works fine... please advise

    Hello,
Let us first start here, as curing this will be a prerequisite to the update process you wish to conduct...

It would appear, from what you say, that your wife's BB was once associated with a BES environment, and was not properly cleansed of that when it was removed from that BES. How, why, or when that may have been the case I cannot know...only that it appears, from what you report, to be the case. To cure it, you must do some very careful steps, starting with ensuring you have a full and complete backup of the entire device, for it will be totally wiped clean in order to cure this issue. You can find full instructions for backup via the link in my auto-sig on this post.
Once you have a good backup, you can proceed with the cleansing process:
KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
When you restore, be sure to NOT do a full restore...rather, only a selective restore of only those critical databases (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.), specifically avoiding any databases that have to do with IT Policy or Enterprise. If you restore those databases, you will wind up right back where you are now.

I recommend you override the automatic methods of updating and instead take full control over the process. Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. After installing the OS package to your PC, please remeber to delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

  • Cannot update AT&T Torch with latest OS6 bundle 2647

Desktop Manager is refusing to let me do a software update on my AT&T 9800.  AT&T has announced the update and it's available on their site but DM is not able to do the update.
I am using a new installation of DM (on Windows XP) that I downloaded from the AT&T Blackberry update site, it has recognized and backed up the phone.  It shows that an update is available.
When I click to go ahead with the update, it says a component of Desktop software must be installed to continue.  If I click Install, it downloads or something for a minute, then it says an error has occurred and to try again.  No amount of trying produces a different result.
I downloaded the entire 168mb Device Software package for this bundle from the AT&T Blackberry update site, and installed that on my PC too, thinking that is what DM wanted.  However, this produces the same result.  I am unable to install this update on my Torch.
DM provides no information about what it is trying to install.  What does it want me to do??  I have never tried to update this phone before (I've had it since March) so this is the first time I've attempted a device software update.  Help!

Since you've downloaded the OS file, follow these directions from there:
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Install the downloaded file to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • No audio/sound on Blackberry Torch 9810 since performing software update to 7.1.0 bundle 1149

    Hello,
Please can someone help me.  I recently performed a software update on my Blackberry Torch 9810 to version 7.1.0. (Bundle 1149).  The update was successful, however since performing the update all audio on my phone has stopped working, in that ringtones, alarms, message notifiers have ceased to work.  I can make calls and can hear people on the other end of the phone, my handset also still vibrates, it has just lost all audio output.
My phone's profile is set to 'normal' and I do not have the 'silent' or 'all alerts off' functions selected.  I also have not dropped or damaged my phone and it has not received any water damage.
I've tried restarting my handset on several occasions and have performed battery pulls/removing and replacing the battery and still no joy!
I have tried to downgrade my software to the previous version, however my handset does not allow a downgrade function.
Please, please can someone help, as I am at a total loss as to what to do?!?!?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Emma

Take a look at the following.....
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=KB19915&sliceId=2&cm...
After show other versions, you can downgrade if you see the earlier version.  Or, you may want to just reinstall the latest version.
It sounds like you did the update OTA on the BlackBerry handset.  That is generally a bad idea right now.  Certainly it will improve in the future, but nowadays many people have troubles.

  • Problems After Latest Update (7.1 Bundle 2061 - v7.1.0.714, Platform 5.1.0.532)

    Hi all.
Having afew problems with my 9810 since the latest upgrade today.  When I used my Desktop Software, it said a new version of the software was available, so I updated it.  Once this was updated, I connected the phone and it told me a new version was available.  Before installing this, I created a back-up,but I noticed that the back-up wasn't complete (Blackberry Messenger 0/2 and something else 0/2 was given as the items not backed-up).
I tried backing it up again and got the same message.  Stupidly, I updated the phone anyway.  This new version of the Desktop Software creates a backup during the update anyway which it uses to restore the phone (I've not noticed the previous version to do this).
Anyways, when the update was complete, I notice that my BBM was empty.  It asked for a new profile name etc (obviously due to the above parts not being backed-up).  Somehow, I managed to get the BBM contacts back from previous back ups, however, a few other aspects of the phone don't function like they use to.  For example:
    1, EMAILS - when deleting emails, I use to get an option to delete the message from "Handset", or "Handset & Mailbox".  Now it just asks to delete and does not give me an option;
    2. DEVICE ANALYSER - Although this appears in the application list, I cannot locate it on the phone (this was a problem in previous updates, but usually it would then appear in the application list with a '?', but not this time);
3, I have 2 applications listed in the applications with '?' over the icon- these might be related to the emails in 1 above; these are "Blackberry S/MIME Support" and "DOD Route Certificates"
Any advice on how to rectify these niggling little issues?
Sorry if this has been covered, but I was hoping for something easy to understand.
    TIA

    Hey,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Please review the following article that provides the steps on how to configure your Email settings to Prompt the option to delete on Handheld or Mailbox & Handheld.
How to enable wireless email reconciliation options for deleting email messages on the BlackBerry Smartphone
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11830
Now to address your 2nd question regarding the BlackBerry Device Analyzer Application is missing on the BlackBerry smartphone, please see here: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB31922
And last, BlackBerry S/MIME Support is a type of encryption that can be used if the BlackBerry smartphone is activated to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.  DOD root certificates are used by the Department of Defense,  these options are available for all BlackBerry smartphones. If you are not using the S/MIME or DOD root certificate  features it is ok to remove them.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Error when updating torch 9800 software

    Hi
I keep on getting an error in the middle of my OS update of the BB torch.  Ive tried all 3 updates available and they all stop after uploaded several units and say I must check my internet connection.  Tried on several different connections, 3G and lan.  I have a App 606 error, but the software detects my phone, I do the repair option and then go the normal process of updating OS.

Can you try using a different USB port in the rear of the PC, or even on a different PC?

  • Software Update Version 7.1.0 Bundle 1133

    Hello,
I have a message asking me to Install the Version 7.1.0 Bundle 1133 software update. Priority: Critical. 95.4MB. It says it will take 2 hours with no phone use. That's fine, so I've clicked it to do it's thing, and nothing really happens, apart from it "Verifying update..." and occasionally the little clock face pops up on top of it. Then my phone just goes dark and restarts. On restartating it displays the following message "Uncaught exception: no application instance".
My mobile is not plugged into my laptop during this process.
I have deleted applications like facebook and whatsapp from my phone to give it more MBs of space.
What am I doing wrong? Why won't it work?
    Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you can stop this, then I recommend stopping it immediately. Wireless/OTA updates take an on-device backup of your data from which they restore after the update succeeds. But, if anything goes wrong with the update, that backup file is lost forever. Hence, I always recommend NOT doing wireless updates but doing tethered updates instead. (Plus, the OTA updates eat into your data plan...)
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for each model. Please use those as reference as you proceed.
You must, of course, first have installed to your PC the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
You can even use a different carriers OS package by simply inserting, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML. Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Unable to update to OS 6.0 Bundle 2647 either wirelessly or via Desktop Software for Mac

I have a BB Torch 9800 and I've tried all I know to update the system software on my BB wirelessly but it gives me the message "Update cannot continue, Update using BB Desktop Manager on your computer". So I plugged my BB in but it doesn't give me a prompt or anything to update and I'm not sure what's wron. Help please!

    Hello azureJTR,
I'm not sure if you have solved your issue yet or not...
To update your BlackBerry's operating system on a Mac is a simple procedure but you can only upgrade to the level that your wireless carrier has released to. I see you're using Bell and they are usually quick to update their offerings.
    Follow this guide item:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/32688/Update_device_applications_2.0_Mac...
New available versions of the BlackBerry's OS are shown when you click the "Show Other Versions" button. (Your BlackBerry needs to be connected for the Desktop software to know both what applications you have installed and the Operating System).
If a newer version than the one you currently have loaded is available in that menu, then do a backup then highlight the item then follow the onscreen commands.

  • New Official OS Update 6.0.0.526, Bundle 2342, Platform 6.6.0.195

Just curious as to what is included in this update?  What's new?  What's good about it?  What to look for as far as any changes?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  I just updated my Torch, but not sure what the update did for me.  Thanks.

I updated my Torch software last weekend, and since then my battery strength is atrocious!  I'm lucky to get 24 hours out of a charge, as opposed to previously getting 1 1/2 to 2 days from a charge.  No change in usage pattern.  Not running apps in the background as I know to check for that and close them properly.
Is anyone else seeing a decline in battery strength since the software update?

    Refer:

Please beware and use at your own risk. There are reports of some folks succeeding at this method, only to discover that their BB no longer functions with their carrier. The carriers control the OS release process (as they always have), so the most prudent method is to wait for your carrier to release it...as will be indicated by the methods you are already using.

    Hi all,
I installed the latest Java update this morning. After installation, the "Jar Bundler" program was gone, and I had to re-install Xcode to get it back.
Also, one of my bundled java apps now no longer works. I can launch the same code from the command line using "java -jar <my jar file name>", but launching the same bundled jar file gives the following console error:

I have discovered my problem and solution.
The JavaApplicationStub file in the app bundle was configured to run x86_64 which the library does not support. This is apparently new to the latest release of Java.
In order to solve the problem, use the lipo tool. Here is what I did:
lipo -remove x86_64 JavaApplicationStub -output JavaApplicationStub
In addition it is also recommended that the LSArchitecturePriority key be added to the info.plist. I added the following to the main properties:
    <key>LSArchitecturePriority</key>
    <array>
    <string>i386</string>
    <string>ppc</string>
    </array>
This specifies the allowed architectures in their preferred order.

  • Relationship of HCM 9.2 PUM updates to CS 9.0 bundles

    Greetings,
Our organization is in the midst of an upgrade fro HCM 9.0 to HCM 9.2.  My question pertains to the relationship between CS 9.0 bundles and HCM 9.2 PUM updates.  Currently with both systems on 9.0 (both Tools 8.53), we have typically run our bundle installs for the two systems concurrently, installing the HCM bundle in both systems to ensure that the integration points work (ie. emergency contact sync).
My question is, after we upgrade to HCM 9.2, how do we handle keeping the two systems compatible?  For example the CS 9.0 Bundle #36 is scheduled to be released on 01/23/2015.  Normally we would install the latest HCM 9.0 bundle (HRMS 9.0 bundle #26 release on 12/19/14) during the same update cycle.  If we are on HCM 9.2, how would we instead handle this update?
    Thank you for your time.
