Updated version now my music library is missing on itunes
I uploaded a new version of itunes and downloaded the new software for my iphone yesterday and now all the music that was in my itunes library has vanished. I have it all still on my iphone as i didn't sync it. How can i get it all back? HELP!!!

When transferring music library and apps to my new I Pad I think I clicked Export Library instead of synching. Now my music library is virtually empty - mostly CDs downloaded, a few apps for the I Pad and apps for the I pod touch too. Can I move these back?
weird very weird. today i did this again today after already being unsuccessful earlier. exactly the same thing as i have done before, exactly. didn't try to import. didn't say damaged library, copied everything in including date. have tried it about 10 times no luck. today it just worked.
how weird is that?

Did you copy your library from your old computer, or backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

hello i hav an ipad mini and i was in the middle of the ios 8 update and i held the sleep and home button at the same time to cancel the update and now it wants me to connect to itunes i dont no how to do that can someone pleaze help me?
RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -
I just updated my Iphone 4 to the IOS 6 update and now i cant connect my iphone to Itunes because apparently my itunes is out of date? and then when i try and update itunes it says i need a new OS completely is there anything i can do???
Are you running Leopard on your Mac, Laurie?
If so, try instead updating to iTunes 10.6.3.25. (That supports earlier models of iPhones running iOS 6, even though it can't run the new iPhone 5s.)

I had an update message on my phone and I clicked yes to update. Now the phone has a picture of itunes and usb connection, but can't be used. itunes says I have to restore my phone, but will lose all the data. Is there anything else I can do? I really don't want to lose all my pictures and other data.
It's in recovery mode. There is nothing left on the phone at all. If you didn't back it up before you started, your data is gone.

You need to restore the iPhone via recovery mode. To do this follow the link below to guide you:

Because you need to restore to factory settings all data on the iPhone will be erased. Because the iPhone was never backed up most of the data you won't be able to get back. -

Thoses items are not part of the backup that iTunes makes as the first stip of the update. Thus, if they were not in the iTunes library of the computer on which you performed the update. They are synced from the library to the iPod at the end of the update andthus if they are no in the library they can't be synced to the iPod.

ATV3 New Update Breaks Home Sharing Music Library Streaming (Again)
Windows 7 user here using Apple TV 3. Overall, I love the device, when it works right.
When I first got it, using the Home Sharing Music Library feature from the Apple TV (in other words, pulling content from the computer) was broken in that it would play for a while, then suddenly stop. There was a *huge* thread on this where many people seemed to experience it.
I was so happy when the last AppleTV update fixed this (for me anyways, and I'd guess many others) - since then (months) it worked flawlessly until today, when the ATV prompted me for an update. Now it's even worse than before and appears to play the first song, then immediately get stuck on the second. =( Anyone else having this issue?
Fortunately, my workaround works, which is "pushing" content from my computer, but this isn't nearly as convenient for a variety of reasons (including much less control via the AppleTV if I'm just relaxing and listening).
I truly hope Apple can resolve this quickly, since they had it nailed before...Luke, I can confirm the bugs with the latest AppleTV software, version 5. It doesn't matter if it is an ATV2 or ATV3 because they are running the same OS version. There are Home Sharing problems because immediately after I updated my ATV2, I started having Home Sharing problems when trying to play any video from my iMac. The link between the Mac and the ATV2 breaks and it bumps back to the main menu with no computers displayed. Quitting iTunes and re-launching fixes the problem, but it isn't guaranteed. Sometimes you will get lucky and it will remain connected, other times, it will break the link again, after another 5 minutes. And, it won't remember your place in the video when the link breaks.
The other major bug is that TV shows are displayed out of order. Apple has confirmed the TV show order bug, but haven't heard anything on the Home Sharing bug. I have reported that one to Apple. Hopefully we will get a software update soon. -

I updated to IOS5 a couple of days ago, and since then I have been trying to find a solution to the "missing music files" in my music library.
All 439 songs are listed in the Music Library, but when I double click one to play it, I get the following error:
The song "xxxxx" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
I click "Locate", it takes me to what I am guessing is the lastest iTunes Back-up called "iTunes Library 2011-10-12" I click on it but nothing happens.
Anyone have the same problem and fix it?
Any ideas/help will be greatfully received

XXXSame here. All the music I have installed from CDs is gone. It's gone from iTunes in the computer and, of course, from the phone.
Before I installed iOS5 I backed up. The restore put everything back except the music. Now I can't find it anywhere on my laptop -
I could not remember my Apple ID, changed my password and verified the email address. It may be a different one from that held in the system, I don't know. Now my music and audio book library is evertuslly empty. I am devastated. Please help.How can I retrieve all the CDs I downloaded?
hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo
