Updateing firefox asks to close firefox when it is already closed

my automatic updater does not work and i was advised to manualy update it.But when i tried, it kept telling me to close fire fox which was already closed. I dont know why but every time you guys have an update my pc goes all wonky and i have a hell of a time to reconfigure it. I am running windows seven and Notons antivirus.

Hello,
If you're just closing the browser window, you're not actually quitting the application.  You need to quit the application for Flash Player to install.  There are a few different ways to Quit Safari:
Quit app from the Dock icon:
Mouse over the Safari icon in the Dock
Press CTRL and left-mouse click at the same time
A menu will display. Click Quit to terminate the application.
Use Activity Monitor to terminate Safari:
Launch Activity Monitor from Appilcations/Utilities/Activity Monitor
Ensure 'All Processes' are being listed (menu in the upper right)
Find and select Safari
Click 'Quit Process' button on the upper left.

  • For s/w updates, how do I "close Bridge" when it's already closed?

When I start the s/w "updates" process, I get a message telling me to "Please close the following applications to continue:"
then it lists "adobe Bridge CS5 (Bridge.exe)" but I do not have Bridge open. So I hit the "continue" botton and it repeats this message.
So how do I "close" Bridge so I can get my updates?
    Thx

It took me a minute to figure out you were talking about the "Show hidden icons" botton, but this did it. Now I can update my all my Adobe programs. Thx

Thanks for your help. I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

Trying to download Adobe Flash Player 11. Halfway through installation message says close Firefox. How can I do this as Firefox is my web browser.

Terminate Firefox from the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager not the "Applications" tab. Then select firefox.exc and use the right-click context menu to "End Process" or use the "End Process" button on the selected process.

  • Re-installer Kaspersky and now my Firebox will not open and tried a reload of Firefox but says close Firefox but is not open

Re-installed Kaspersky when reactivated account and now my Firefox will not open not even a message to allow or anything. Went to Mozilla to reload went ok till the install standard tellsme to close Firefox but it is not open, remember I could not open it ths the re-install and does not show in task manager or anything. Might be Ok if a valid message but nothing that makes sense.

hello, this crash is related to your graphics hardware & a recent windows update. please start firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift-key while it is launching) & go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & disable hardware acceleration.

  • Auto-close Preview when last document is closed?

Is there some way to automatically close preview when all of the documents have been closed? I like to keep my active app space clear of clutter and there's no point to have a quick-loading app like Preview remain active if I've closed out everything I was reading.

    Hi, isnoop.
The short answer is: no. If there were, it would be in Preview's Preferences.
You would have to Quit (Command-Q or Preview > Quit Preview) Preview.
There's no reason to quit and relaunch an application like Preview if you're going to use it more than once between restarts. It's memory footprint is small when no images are displayed and it won't use CPU cycles unless you're working with it.
    Good luck!

See docs "Close Sales Order Headers With No Associated Open Lines, Order Header Workflows Or Order Line Workflows [ID 397565.1]" and "Order Management Suite - Some Datafix Patches and Scripts [ID 398822.1]". They might help. I currently have an SR in on the same situation, although I do not get the same error message you get.
    Hope this helps,

  • Trying to upgrade to V.8, cannot open Firefox. Have uninstalled, loaded 8 again then 7 , 9 and finally 6. The program will not run. Operating Windows 7. When I try to uninstall, I am asked to 'close Firefox' but it isn't open ( Task Manager confirms).

Firefox 8 won't open. The Windows 'wheel' which indicates a program is opening spins for about 5 seconds and then stops and nothing happens. I have spent several hours uninstalling and then loading different versions but still the same thing happens. I frequently switch off and restart the computer but nothing happens. I have changed the Windows firewall to allow Firefox, again nothing happens.

In the task manager, are you looking at Processes? That is where you find Firefox listed when you see no interface, not in Applications.
This page might have some useful information about that problem.

  • Firefox will not close properly when I close a window. Is this a know issue?

I go to http://www.1035thearrow.com/ and click lisen live on top. it opens another window if I try to close that window Firefox crashes. If this is the last window I close it will partly close (in windows task manager it wont show up in applications) and it won't let me start a new session of Firefox until I stop the firefox.exe process in the task manager. When I restart Firefox it will bring that window back up with the same problem. Is this a known issue and if not how do I report it.
