UpdateManager progress bar stops

dear all,
I meet a problem of the Update Manager with Solaris10 under Java Desktop Environment. I started the Update Manager and continued to the update progress.
After I took a break back to the screen, I found the progress bar stops. I confirmed it waiting for 10 min, and nothing move in the progress bar in the "installing updates" stage.
Could anyone helps me to solve this problem? I need to know how to finish the update, or cancel it without system failure. I am afraid that if I cancel it directly, system will be failed, and I have to re-install whole Solaris 10 again.
Sincerely thanks for your help

I have this issue too. I have found that you can just xkill the darn thing and start to add packages one or two at a time till you find the one causing the system to hang. I then just search for that package, download it individually and install it manually. I am sure there are better ways but until they get the update manager to work....

Repair Permissions can be found as an option in...
    Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility
Or my prefered method, get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.

  • Safari progress bar stops halfway

More of an annoyance than a real problem, but the progress bar stops halfway when visiting a site, even though the page is done downloading. Running Safari 3.0.4 in Leopard with latest updates. Very strange. Seems to slow down occasionally as well, and started when I upgraded the MacBook Pro to Leopard. Thoughts?

Hi Stevie and welcome to the forums!
    Try this:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions.
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
If not, MacFixit have published a very detailed (very!) article on speeding up a slow Safari, here:

  • When I try to empty trash, progress bar stops, and I have to reset finder

This has been happening for about a week or so. Regardless of what the files are, I am unable to delete them. Whether I do a standard empty trash, or a secure empty trash, I end up with the same progress bar that stops during the process. I've let it sit for several minutes and over an hour, leaving me the only option of doing a force restart of finder.
Currently I am unable to delete anything, putting a serious hold on my workflow.
It appears that many people are having all kinds of trash issues with Snow Leopard. I'm assuming Apple is working on a fix, but I'm not sure when that's coming out. Until then, if there is some kind of work-around, I'd love to know about it.
Any guesstimates on when Apple will release the next OS update?
    Cheers.
    Ben

Start with http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/trash.html Do note that AFAIK, there aren't any trash issues with Snow Leopard, just the normal handful of common issues, usually fixed by the steps in the linked article.

  • My files are not uploading; progress bar stops and I get an error message

Last night (dec. 23) I was trying to upload 30 photo files. The progress bar works, but it either stalls or at the end I get an error message. These are time critical, I have a client waiting for the photos. I tried sending just a couple of photos, but the same issue happens. Please give me a solution.

    Hi Lory Hawley,
Have you been able to upload your files? What is the error that you're receiving?
For starters, please try the following:
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Try a different browser (see System requirements | Acrobat.com for a list of supported browsers).
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • TS1884 What if the Safe Boot progress bar stops (around the 25%-30% mark)? Any other alternatives I have to get my MAcBook Pro to boot without running into an error?

    Hi,
after starting my MacBook Pro I was faced with a grey screen stating that "an error has occurred, you need to restart your computer". I did that multiple times but the same message appeared each time. So I started the Safe Boot. Now the progress bar is stuck at the 25-30% progress mark since 30 min. Any advise on what to do from here?
Any help and advise is much appreciated!

I doubt that shutting it off will do any harm but don't do it too often.

  • ITunes store won't load. The progress bar freezes at about 50% and I get nothing but a white screen.

I'm running iTunes 10.5 beta 7 but this issue has been happening since I was running 9.  One day I clicked on a link for an app I saw on techcrunch and it pulled up in iTunes as being in the UK store.  I clicked ok and my iTunes hasn't worked since.  I can log into my account but can't access anything in the store or Ping.  I've googled this issue and found some similar sounding stories but none of the solutions have worked.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, turned of the itunes store in parental settings and checked "except for iTunes U", I've uninstalled apple aplication suport and installed safari and every other option I have found and nothing has worked.
Sometimes if I let it sit long enough what looks like an unstyled version of the store comes up but is completely unusable.
Just to be clear, this has been happening since before I was running any beta software or OS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you gchin.
I emailed apple support and they got back to me, I did what he said and it's fixed! SOLUTION found- see below.
    I said:
"I can't access the iTunes Store. When I click on it the progress bar stops at 50% and I'm left with a blank white screen (no error msg). I have uninstalled and reinstalled, run the iTunes diagnostics (it said all was ok), gone through all of the online help material and I've tried turning off my firewall. Nothing works. I can't sync my iphone either (stops on verifying iPhone so I think it's getting stuck on trying to contact the store). Plzz help."
    They replied:
"Greetings from Apple iTunes Store Customer Support! I am ########.
I understand that you have had issues accessing the iTunes Store. I know how eager you are to have this issue resolved. I will certainly assist you.
#########, for this, I recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by once again uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime, and then reinstalling the latest version of each. To do this, first ensure that you are logged in to an Administrator user account on your computer, then follow the instructions in the appropriate article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Note: Titles you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your iTunes folder by default and are not deleted by uninstalling iTunes. Backing up your iTunes Library regularly is recommended.
After successfully uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime, please ensure you have upgraded to the latest Service Pack for Windows by installing all updates available to you on Microsoft Windows Update:
    http://update.microsoft.com
Once you have the latest Service Pack for Windows installed, download and install iTunes for Windows (which includes QuickTime):

  • Hanging overview progress bar?

    Anyone encounter this?
Open an existing Logic session, several progress windows appear and disappear showing "creating overview for "xxxx.aif", but one window hangs and the progress bar stops animating.
Click on the arrange window and press spacebar to play. Sequence is audible but cursor does not scroll and performance is sluggish.
A temp fix is to delete the file that is named in the hanging progress window, then quit and reopen the session . This only works once - quitting and re-opening again results in a different file progress window hanging.
Closing the session does not remove the hanging progress window and opening a new session suffers the same malady. Only quitting Logic makes the window go away.
    What I have tried:
    Updating file information
    initializing preferences
    trashing preferences
Switching audio device between Built in and MBox2
Transfer entire session to another computer
    None of these have worked.
    Any ideas?

So, it's trying to create an overview to a file that is not in the bin?
Was the file successfully removed from the bin?
Try this: delete that file from the bin (if it's still there), from the file menu use "Save a Copy as", open the new copy. If it's still doing the same thing try cleaning everything from the bin (in the copy version), save and reopen.
This is also to try to isolate the problem.

  • Can't get past startup grey screen or progress bar.

Running late 2011 Mac Book Pro. Recently added a SSD which runs software and the HDD for user data. All was running fine with data migration etc. Running Yosemite all updated. 16GB Ram.
Was using photoshop and it grey screened. Have tried lots of different things-
Won't boot in safe mode or verbose mode.
Ran fsck -fy in single user mode.
    Changed RAM and ports.
Won't boot from the HDD which still has the operating system or from OSX Install which is on an external drive.
Ran a recovery boot up with download from Apple.
Ran a hardware test (extended and normal) with no errors.
    Cleared PRAM and SCM.
Won't give me the option to boot from time machine back up.
Tried to to boot from recovery partition.
Would not mount as an external drive but could only daisy chain through another hard drive so not sure if it doesn't mount or wouldn't when daisy-chained.
None of this has worked and leads to either a grey screen or progress bar stopping halfway.
Unable to get an appointment at the Genius Bar and don't want to take it to a premium reseller as would rather Apple look at it first.
I know it must be a hardware issue but don't know what hardware!
    HELP!

    HELP!
Time Machine is not a bootable copy - that is normal.
Apple hardware test can miss issues, see if it can run in loop mode (cmd+L) if you want to try to provoke an error - sometimes they appear to be temperature related, so start cold & allow it to warm up.
I'm unclear on the external disks & bootable OS's you tried, try to check that these disks also boot another Mac. A 10.10 installer on a USB stick should work on other Macs, but occasionally they can fail to support booting so you need to rule that out if you have other USB sticks.
I think an Apple store would be a good idea, it seems like the Mac is failing to boot from any OS's on different media, normally indicating a fatal flaw on the mac itself.
Also see if it fits into any of these…

...and so on...How must I implement something like it?

Not precisely that way, but just off the top of my head, you would have to have a handle to the proccess (server) in the first window, then have a monitor program that allows you take this handle and end it. I would make this monitor program be the gateway to starting and stopping your server. To run a .bat file you can use runtime.exec().

Hello, my name is Todd, I recently dowloaded PS CC 2014. I have used PS for decades. The crop tool will show the progress bar, then at about 25% it will totally stop, even on VERY small 72dpi images. What can I do? Thanks!

Double check all the settings in the crop tool, and make sure you aren't telling it to create a HUGE image as a result of your settings.
