Updater For Firmware Fails.
I'm running Windows 2000 (Sp4) 512meg of memory, look the program runs fine, the problem is when it goes to check Nokia's Database to see what available firmware is out..
All it returns is "No software updates available for your phone"
on the side it says Nokia 6110 (it detects the phone ok) and then nothing, so i rip out the packet sniffer and have a look what's going on, I have no firewall preventing it, it's like a time out, no error codes just either not connecting or timing out.

You really dont have an option but to wait for NSU to have an available update for your phones product code.

New update for iCloud fails to install
Is anyone having trouble getting the iCloud update for windows to install?
I haven't been able to get the last 3-4 updates to install. They get almost to the end and then I get an error message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support or package vendor." I've tried turning off my antivirus and my firewall before running the update but the updates still won't complete the installation. I've also tried to install each manually but that doesn't work either.

Latest update for iphone failed. Asking me to connect but already plugged in.
Device not recognised. Tried a 2nd PC. Downloaded update but that failed. Tried factory restore but that failed too. Error 4000. Now phone invisible. Image of itunes and plugin with an arrow on the screen.
On plugging it into the 2nd pc, it finds it and gives me the choice of an update or factory reset. Once the s/w is extracted the above message is displayed.

Itunes update to firmware fails, because connection times out.
I have been unsuccessfully attempting to update my iphone 3gs and ipad to iOS 5 for over a month now. I have spent many, many hours on this, and many phone calls to apple support. I disable Norton 360, and windows firewall, and my firewall on my router. I've tried updating my router's firmware, which bricked the router--thanks apple for insisting this was the problem, and I have replaced the router, with a new one. Itunes diagnostics gives me the following information. I am using itunes as the administrator in Windows 7, 64 bit, although itunes doesn't recognize it, unless I reinstall it as the administrator, but then once I restart the computer, itunes no longer recognizes that I using Windows as an admin.
Also, the firmware cannot update, because the connection times out, despite all my firewalls, and antivirus being turned off.
I've tried downloading iOS 5 and then updating using restore, but that didn't work. I've poured through support forums, and error codes: I get 1611, etc. Cannot seem to resolve this.
Any ideas?

Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services.
This is the message I am getting. Why can't I get itunes to load properly??Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:

Using HP product CM 750 A OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus with ethernet cable connected to Mac 21.5", OSX 10.9.5 Maverick. Running HP version 9.4 (447.2), tried to up date to version 12.34 because of two problems: 1. Amost every time I put the Mac to 'sleep', 10 seconds later the last print job prints. I don't need extra copies!2. Frequently, after printing one job - e mail, web page, spreadsheet, whatever - and try tp print something else, printer is frozen. Dialog box shows the 1st job and "Connecting to printer" shows. Only cure: re-boot printer. So I tried to update printer to v. 12.34 Several times it hung up at "Utility", finally completed - I saw "Update Successful" However, after rebooting Mac, HP still shows at "About..." the original "Version 9.4" What did I do wrong? How do I get current version installed and WORKING? And finally, should I do something to solve problems #1 & 2 if they persist with new version? Thanks for any help

DHCP dynamic dns updates for Chromebooks fail
Hi all,
We're having a bit of a problem here. We have a domain here, domain.local, that has approximately 260 Windows Machines (XP, Win7, various MS Servers) and we also have users that bring in iOS devices, Kindles, Androids and so-forth. The domain controller
runs dhcp, dns, wsus, and is a file server. We only have a single dhcp server and a single dns server on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box.
We have a wireless network by Aruba that has three SSID's on it. One is secure, two are firewalled and open. You can ping the chromebooks on either of the wireless networks. the DHCP server works find on all of these.
We started off getting bad_address entries from the chromebooks when they went on our network back in September. Creating a dhcp lease solved most but not all. We are still getting dozens of entries in the dhcp log that specify bad_address. We have the dhcp
server testing twice before issuing. Once in a great, great while, we might get something on an Android, but that is it.
Funny thing is, Chromebooks are being handed IPs (horray) and we can see the leases in the dhcp server. Well that really isnt funny, but what is, dynamic updates to dns are not happening. They exist nowhere in the forward zone or as a reverse pointer.
Kindles, iOS machines, Androids, Windows machines and everything else work flawlessly.
So two things... bad_address in the dhcp area and the dhcp dynamic updates are not happening for the Chromebooks.
Dns is set to "Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records.
Discard A & PTR records when lease is deleted is checked.
Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records for DHCP clients that do not request updates is also checked.
Name protection is turned off as of today.
Any Ideas?
Thanks!
SteveThe chromebooks are not joined to the domain. They are not designed to do so.
DNS Suffix is fine.
We have intermittent issues with Androids and an occassional iOS device, but never Windows machines.
Here is part of the log from yesterday. Only two bad_addresses happened today. See what I mean by it's intermittant?
Thanks!
Steve

Zen Micro needs firmware update for Vista, but what now as it fail
As I now use Vista (paid for by my work) I came to install my Zen Micro which wasn't recognised so I came to the website and discovered that you need version 2 of the firmware for it to be compatible with Vista. Having never had the need to upgrade before I was still on Version one so I downloaded it onto my other WinXP machine?which I've used my Zen on alot before to do the upgrade. Started the upgrade and all seemed to be well until a point a 3rd of the way through a box came up asking what I'd like to do with the device (like the one when a USB key inserted). Leaving the upgrade I returned hour later to see nothing has changed and the upgrade has failed.
I've tried all the options with recovery mode but it still just shows up as having version 0.0.65 and when inserted into a PC shows up as a?Creative Zen Micro?in device manage and has a 20MB disk partition for storage but when I try and run a firmware patch it says its not connected.
Looking round this forum this seems to be quite common upto now but with the release of Vista people are forced to take the 'risk' of running a firmware update that when it fails doesn't seem to be recoverable even in recovery mode. Please can you look into updating the firmware to find these devices that it can't see, for many years I've laughed at my friends with their crashing ipods that need charging everyday due to not being able to change the battery but it now seems the jokes on me.I used Adambonello's fix and it worked?http://forums.creative.com/creativel...mp=true#M80097

Updating of firmware for drive Optiarc DVD Rw AD-5680H
updating of firmware for drive Optiarc DVD Rw AD-5680H
it seems compulsory since burning of DVD Verbatim disks are failed
but successful with Verbatim DVD -RW
Mac Mini ,Mountain Lion etc
the drive of my PowerBook Pro
works well
Mashita DVD -R UJ -868
where can I find and download this updafe
THKSFailure with one type of optical media and not another -- even from the same manufacturer -- is not unusual. DVDs and DVD-RWs use different dies that respond to different lasers in the optical drive. There are numerous other possibllities here.
It would not be unusual if the write laser for DVDs has burned out but the DVD-RW is still working becasue they use entirely separate lasers of a different intensity and frequency.
It may be the dyes used in a particular lot of Verbatim DVDs are not quite compatible with the DVD lasers in your drive (that is independent of DVD-RWs because they use different lasers.
Because of manufacturing variations your drive may burn other brands of DVD blanks flwlessly, but just won't work with Verbatim DVD blanks.
The DVD Read/Write lasers in your drive may simply be dirty.
Changing/updating the firmware in an optical can be done, but there is a definite risk of converting the optical drive into something useful only as a paper weight.
Try another brand of DVD blank or even a different model Verbatim. (I have seen cases where discs from a different manufacturing lot from the same vendor worked when another failed.)
If you are using DVD-R blanks try a DVD+R (there again different lasers are involved.
It is tricky to clean slot loading optical drives, but sometimes simply blowing them out with short bursts of canned air will work. Be sure the computer has been powered down for a good while and the optical drive is completely cooled. Then use only short bursts of air to prevent super cooled liquid air from getting into the drive. That can easily crack the lenses if you aren't careful.
If your Mac mini is less than a year old or you have Apple Care, get an appointment and take it to the Genius Desk of the nearest Apple store. If you aren't covered under warranty a bus powered external optical drive very probably costs less than the labor charge to diagnose the issue with your drive. -
Built-In Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 fails with error 23:3 on MacBook 2,1
I attempted to install "Built-In Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0" on two laptops tonight.
Macbook Pro 3,1:
Hadn't experienced the issue that the firmware would resolve. Installed the update anyway, successfully, and continued to have no problems since.
Macbook 2,1:
Hadn't experienced the issue that the firmware would resolve. Tried to install the update, but it failed with error "23:3". After the failure, the keyboard was non-responsive for about 30-60 seconds, during which time I assume it restored/re"booted" itself. Keyboard function was restored automatically after this time, though there was no indication that it would return, and I had to suffer a minor sweat. Still, I didn't learn I power cycled the system and tried again, but the update never installed successfully.
Lessons learned -
If it ain't broken...
That said, Apple seems to have designed their hardware well enough to be able to recover from a failed firmware update. In this case, you just have to pray a little until the keyboard responds again.
Apple: be so kind, let us know what 23:3 means, and if needed, update the Firmware Updater.
//Hi,
I was just wondering how you were able to get the macbook to accept the update? I had to take mine to apple store and get entire keyboard and trackpad replaced in my macbook. They then told me to ignore the update cause they did not have any other keyboards to replace if it happened again.
