Updater is annoying!!!!!

Could someone at Adobe take the time to make Updater a little less intrusive! I open PS to edit and image and I get that stupid bouncing icon in my dock that will NOT go away until I do something with it, then, during the update process, it interrupts me three more times. I DON"T want to do this NOW! I WANT TO GET TO WORK ON AN IMAGE! One interruption wouldn't bother me, but THREE! Come on man, there's got to be a better way!

Maybe I failed to make myself clear. I want the thing to auto-update. I don't want it to require four separate inputs from me to do so. When it launches, by all means, tell me. At that time, of I opt to update, then ask me for my password immediately, not three minutes later when I'm back into my photo! If another app is running that will be required to be shut down during the process, then tell me, but don't interrupt me if none of those affected programs are running! When your done, launch a window telling me so, just leave it in the background, don't throw it up in my face while I'm into an intricate edit process on an image. This sin't hard. It's called common sense. Sometimes engineers and code writers forget to apply "common sense" because they're too busy applying all the other knowledge they have on a problem. It's my job to remind them of this short coming. So while your answer may be a resolution for some, it will not work in my case. I do appreciate the time you took to respond, though. I just want Adobe to get it right!

  • Update/Installation annoying

    Hi there
    Just very annoyed with Flash Player installation process.
    It wants me to download, unpack and install it manually (MAC). It is 21st century. Just ridiculous.
    It asks me to quit Safari.
    Ok, I quit Safari leaving all my tabs open because my Safari is configuret to open all the tabs from previous session on the next launch.
    When Flash Player is installed it automatically opens a totally useless page just to inform about the installation success. And this stupid page just opens alone. All my tabs from previous session are gone.
    After step 4 I hate Flash, I hate corporate programmers who do not think about user and I hate Adobe.
    Job done.

    Ever hear of "Gatekeeper"?
    It makes it very difficult to design updaters, because EACH and EVERY update has to go through Apple approval. The updater, the downloader, the installer - ALL must get Apple approval to be added to the Gatekeeper protection definitions and then Apple has to update Gatekeeper BEFORE a software company can release their "approved" installer/updater.
    Companies like Microsoft (with Office Mac) or Roxio, don't release updates that often, so it's not a big deal for them to go through the Gatekeeper approval. Flash Player is updated about every six weeks. And on top of that, there's still a big rift between Apple and Adobe over, of all things, Flash, so they'd likely stall Gatekeeper definition updates as long as they could and still avoid legal action. Adobe does the easy thing and uses an already approved DMG mounted, manual process for the installer.
    It takes a little lonegr, sure. But it's less than coming here, logging in (or creating a new account), starting a thread and writing a rant about it. I could have installed it thrice at least in the time it took me to write this reply.

  • FTP credentials dumped on every update - so annoying.

    Yes, what fun.
    Everytime you install a handy Muse update it wants you to save the project again. No not with the same name, adobe suggests you give it a new name. OK! so I add a B, then a C, and a D after the name. Good move.
    Then you go to do an FTP upload and your saved and secure ftp credentials are thrown away. WHY THANKS ADOBE - I love digging out my safe and secure passwords and access info again and again and again.... Every time YOU issue an update you DUMP my upload access info!!!!
    A major pain that has been there for over a year. That "save your credentials" is almost useless as is the complicated process they put you through to supposedly restore it.
    Ughhh! Just one of many fun bugs in an otherwise potentially fine piece of software

    I have the same problem. I maintain a number of sites using Muse and the re-entering of supposedly "saved" information with every update is something that I dearly wish would be permanently fixed.

  • Verizon Navigator after ICS Update is Annoying!!!

    Is there anyway to disable or remove this pest? Everytime I dock my phone in the car this thing comes up asking me to accept the terms of service for its use which I have to decline everytime. It always comes up before Motorola's Car Dock. I need to disable this Verizon app some kind of way. Why would I want to pay Verizon to use their Navigator App when Google Maps/Navigation works just fine and it's FREE.
    This shouldn't even be on the phone.

    From another Forum:Disable VZ Navigator.  From Manage Apps select VZ Navigator.  If it gives you the option on Uninstall Updates, do it.  Then you will have the option to Disable.  HTH""
    I wasn't having the issue you describe but I followed the steps above and was able to disable(?) it.

  • App Store showing old, outdated updates. Annoying notifications.

    Two of them date back to 2009?! I've tried uninstalling the problem apps and reinstalling them, but it didn't make any difference. I've restarted my device and nothing. At first there was only one problematic app (Galaxy of Fire 2), but as time goes on more and more apps are adding to the update list on my iPad 2 - and they are all outdated updates. As of now I have FIVE pointless update notifications and it's starting to get on my nerves.
    Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

    If you delete the app on the iPad and download the app DIRECTLY to the iPad from the apps store, it will always download the newest version. It sounds like you are syncing older versions from the computer with itunes. Make sure the computer/itunes's version of the app is the latest.
    Have you purchased apps from more than one itunes store account? If so, only the ones from the logged in account update when you tell it to. So if you are using multiple apps store accounts, you must update apps for each store account separately.

  • NEED TO FIXED OR UPDATE FACETIME ANNOYING SOUNDS

    As what i observed since ios 7.0 introduce to all Apple user i get my attention in "FACETIME"  when i start to use it the high pitch and crackling sounds prequently come even though you have a good signal and many times to restart it still the same. when i off the camera in both user the annoying sound also gone and the voice chat goes smooth unlike the video call. please fixed this issue.

    This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple.
    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How to disable annoying "Restart" popup bar reminder after firefox is updated?

    When firefox gets updated, this annoying reminder bar keeps popping up asking me to restart the browser. I don't want to restart my browser! Stop asking me that! Whenever I close this popup bar, it soon raises up again. How do I disable it?

    No, it's gone after restart but the point is that 1. I don't want to restart the browser 2. I don't want the reminder to be that annoying. If Firefox really can't keep working after update, developers could have forced the restart. Otherwise, why do they allow this popup to be closed (X button on the right)? If they don't want user to miss this notification, they could have shown it as a modal message box. Behaviour of this popup suggests that restart is optional. Also, it's very logical that if I closed this bar once, it means that I've acknowledged the notification and I don't need to be told about that again. From my user point of view this looks like a bug. Popup bar should not appear again after it was manually closed.

  • Updating JTable every second, want to ignore these events in my listener

    I have a JTable that I update every second using
    table.getModel().setValueAt(data, row, col);I'm also reacting to when the user clicks on a row in a the table, using a ListSelectionListener:
    public class MyTableListener implements ListSelectionListener {
              public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) {
                   if (e.getValueIsAdjusting()) return;
                   //do stuff
    }And of course I've done this:
    table.getSelectionModel.addListSelectionListener(new MyTableListener());Problem is, every time I update the table data it generates an event handled by valueChanged() above. I need to prevent this.
    Do I need a customized table model for this?
    Thanks!

    Found the problem: I forgot I was using JXTable, not JTable. Here's my example:
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    import javax.swing.table.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import org.jdesktop.swingx.*;
    public class Test {
         JXTable table = null;//change this to JTable to fix
         public class MyTableListener implements ListSelectionListener {
              public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) {
                   System.out.println("event="+e.toString());
         public Test()
              JFrame frame  = new JFrame();
              String columns[] = {"one", "two"};
              Object data[][] = {{0, 0}, {0, 0}, {0, 0}};
              table = new JXTable(data, columns);//change this to JTable to fix
              table.getSelectionModel().addListSelectionListener(new MyTableListener());
              frame.add(new JScrollPane(table, JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED, JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED),
                          BorderLayout.CENTER);
              startThread();
              frame.setVisible(true);
         public static void main (String args[]) {
              Test test = new Test();
         public void startThread()
              class RefreshThread extends Thread {
                   public void run() { try {
                             while(true) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {public void run() {
                                       updateTable();
                                  sleep(1*1000);
                        } catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
              RefreshThread rt = new RefreshThread();
              rt.start();
         public void updateTable()
              TableModel model = table.getModel();
              try {
                   for(int row = 0; row < model.getRowCount(); row++)
                        model.setValueAt(System.currentTimeMillis(), row, 0);
                        model.setValueAt(System.currentTimeMillis(), row, 1);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }When I change it to a JTable, valueChanged() is not called every time I programmatically update the table.
    If it's a JXTable, valueChanged() is called with every update. Annoying!
    To compile/run the JXTable version you'll need something like
    java -cp swingx-1.0.jar:. TestAs for the events themselves, I added print statements with e.toString() and the events are not distinguishable from user interaction. I wonder if this is a JXTable bug or feature.
    Thanks!

  • Lync Status Not Updating Until Group is Expanded

    Hello all,
    I am having an issue that I can't seem to figure out. For the Groups view, the group doesn't seem to update a person's status when collapsed. After it is expanded, is only then the status will update and the person will go into a different group or move
    up or down the list, depending on filtering. Also if the expanded group extends past the bottom of the Lync window, those contacts don't update until seen. This also happens with the Status View as well. You need to scroll through the entire list to update
    everyone's status.
    Is this part of Lync or a bug? I am really hoping it is an issue because trying to find people after their status updates is annoying.

    Hi,
    Did you try deleting the Lync Profile.
    Please try to delete the profile and check the presence.
    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync

  • Syncing AFTER Updating

    This is really a comment for Apple. I hope someone who works at Apple reads these forums and has the authority to pass on comments ... and takes this comment as seriously as it deserves and passes it on to the right people.
    It really bothers me that the iPhone does software updates BEFORE syncing. I have two problems with this.
    Start with the annoyance problem:
    1. I often plug in my iPhone and go to bed. I think it is reasonable for me expect to be able to unplug a charged and synced phone in the morning. Unfortunately, if there's a software update, what has actually happened is that no sync has occurred and my computer has sat awake all night waiting for me to approve (or not approve) the software installation, and it won't sync until I say yes or no. I'm often in a rush in the mornings, and I think that's common. Having to wait even a couple minutes for a sync can throw a wrench into a tight schedule. It's annoying. Why can't the phone sync and THEN ask if I want to do a software update? Then I can say no if it's a busy morning and update later at my convenience. And, while this is usually a morning a problem for me, I can see it happening at any time of day. You plug in your phone expecting a quick sync, go off and take care of something else and come back expecting to unplug a synced phoned and go ... but instead iTunes is just sitting there twiddling it fingers while waiting for feedback on a software update. Annoying!!
    And the complete disaster problem:
    2. This just happened to my spouse, and he's very upset, and quite rightly so. He's too upset to write his own comment. He only syncs his phone once a week. This morning, he plugs in his phone and iTunes asks if he wants to do a software update, so he says yes, why not. Well, for whatever reason the software update crashed. Just stopped in the middle saying it couldn't find the iPhone. Well, he wiggled this and clicked on that, and eventually it found the iPhone again, but it then proceeded to wipe his iPhone clean and then update the software and reload the data from his last sync, so he lost all the information that was entered on his iPhone over the last week. This would not have been a problem if iTunes had done the sync first and the software update second and since its a basic principal of computer use to back up data before installing new software, you would think that Apple would have programed the iPhone to do just that. I'd have to say that both my spouse and I are pretty darn upset with Apple right at this moment. This was a totally avoidable loss of data. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
    So, Apple, please , on the next software update, fix this! Sync first, update second. It's simple really.
    And while you're at it, can you time out the software update request after a reasonable amount of time and let my computer go to sleep? If there's been no yes or no click after a certain length of time, its reasonable to assume one is not forthcoming ... and really it can wait another day.

    Request it here:

  • How do i stop the app store from prompting me to update Pages?

    I don't want to update to the new version of Pages until they make the Maverick version as fullscale as 4.3.
    Call me  cranky, but I find the incessant update notifications  annoying.
    Thanks in advance

    You can hide certain updates by ctrl-clicking them in the Updates list in App Store, Updates tab. It will show a contextual menu with one item, Hide update.
    Hopefully, the forum page has let you know that I'm trying to do this on a Mavericks iMac, since it asked me to designate all that stuff.
    I understand that from the forum and your profile, but that has nothing to do with my reply.
    As you can see here, I have both 5.2 and 4.3.
    Also, see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049
    From that article:
    In the meanwhile, you can continue to use these features by accessing the previous versions of the iWork applications which remain installed on your Mac. The previous versions can be found in Applications > iWork ’09.
    This article indicates you must enable the Debug menu in App Store to hide apps, but I have never had to do that. However, I don't have any pending updates to test: http://nicolamonaca.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/how-to-hide-a-software-update-in-th e-mac-app-store/
