Updater is taking forever!!!!!!

This is begining to aggrevate me. I'm trying to put the updated software onto my iPod but it has taken me 10 and still counting hours to finish. I've tried this for two days now with the same results: "Do not Disconnect" (which means nothing). Help!

It won't ever say finished. If it says please wait while your iPod finishes updating, then just watch the iPod. In a few minutes, the menu would show up and then be replaced with the Do Not Disconnect. You can then close the updater and open iTunes.

  • Updating Folios Taking forever!!!!

    Hi all,
Is anyone experiencing issues downloading folios onto Adobe Content Viewer for the ipad, a 16MB folio took more that 30 minutes to download and I had a good 4G connection. Updating articles is also taking more than the usual.

We are experiencing slowness up and down as well.  iPad and Android have been downloading slower since last week.  The upload progress bar also seems much slower this week.
I was having to repeatedly download an updated article that included a 170MB video and after taking a long time to download it would crash the Android viewer app during the install process.  It happened at least three times in a row.  I re-encoded the video and got the file size down to 90MB and it finishes the installation now.

  • My ipod touch is takeing forever to update to IOS 5.01

i have an ipod touch and its a 4 gen and i have a new computer and it realy fast but my ipod update is takeing forever to update i have done everything i even changed some internet setting it still takes forever please help me. ,Thank you

If your iPod does not have camera it is a 3G iPod. Those can only go to 5.1.1. Its hardware does not support a higher version.
As other have said, a 4G (first one to have cameras) can only go to 6.1.6
A 5G can go to the current 7.1.2
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Restarting taking forever after Security Update 2014-002

I just downloaded Security Update 2014-002 and my Mac Mini is taking forever to restart after the download and installation process finished. I'm running the latest version of Mavericks and my Mac is stuck on restart! What should I do?
    Need help! Thanks.

Tap the space bar on your keyboard once. The dispaly may be sleeping.
The first restart after the update here was longer than usual but I restarted one more time, it was back to normal boot time.
After the restart, open the App Store then select Updates from the menu.
It should say:  Verio 1.0 Installed Apr 22, 2014

  • Installed the OS update.  Now my 'sleep' command is taking forever to take effect.

Installed the OS update.  Now my 'sleep' command is taking forever to take effect.

I'm having the same issue. My iPod video now blinks on and off with the apple logo every 3-5 seconds. The HD clicks as well, but nothing happens. It has been like this for about an hour now, and my iTunes does not even recognize that my iPod is connected. Is there something wrong with the iPod update that we are not aware of? And if so, how can I restore my software without having to reinstall all of my songs and videos? This is really frustrating, and there should be some kind of warning about problems that can occur with new software updates.

  • IPhone 4S taking forever to sync after iOS 7 update

My iPhone 4S is taking forever to completely sync the back up after updating to the new iOS 7 operating system. It's stuck in step 6 of 6 'waiting for items to copy'. Please help!

I was having this same problem with iPhone 5 with the latest version of iOS 7 and iTunes.  It was just taking forever on the 'waiting for items to copy' step.
I disabled Genius on my iTunes setup, and immediately it resumed and completed that step.  Seems like it was waiting for Genius results that weren't there, or weren't available.
I have a large iTunes library and still like to manually manage the music on my iPhone.
I guess I'll live without Genius until Apple can fix this.
iTunes Genius can cause manual sync of music to iPhone to hang for a long time.

  • Okay so I just got a new MacBook and I'm setting it up. I decided to not download all of my files to iCloud drive and its taking forever to load to the next page. Is this normal for it to take so long? After all I didn't even download my stuff?

why is it taking forever to load!?

The files you are loading into the new computer are by wi-fi? If you have no other option
that may be OK but slow. A faster method would be Ethernet cable from internet router
or modem, instead of wireless. Most of the setup process can take some time.
What are these files? Where are they now?
Do you have a backup on-site, & not online?
Did you check to see if the operating system was updated as part of the setup before use?
The Software Update can locate later parts to the as-shipped system, that may be needed.
Other upgrades or new apps are through the Mac App Store, some through App Store, etc.
As part of the setup, you could use a migration assistant if you have a backup from the old
computer or have other files saved in an external hard drive to import.
Hopefully your process won't be drawn out too long...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Qosmio X500-128, taking forever to boot also Toshiba service station error

    Hi
My toshiba qosmio x500-128 is taking forever to boot up these days, iver rolled back the system using system restore, ive stopped any unessential startup services that i know are not req at startup but the system still takes forever to boot, ive also updated to the latest BIOS etc
Another thing is that everytime i login i get the error that Toshiba Service station has stopped working...
any help would be greatly appreciated

So if I am to do a system reformat. I am no novice with computers but by no means completely efficient at everything. What is the "best-practice" when doing a system reformat?
Burn a reformat disc from the system utilities?
Is there a way to reformat that would install the latest drivers/BIOS?
I am going to have a headache with the stuff on my HDD, eg. iTunes, photos, university work don't think I have enough space on my extra HDD's to store it all then to re-transfer it all back... :(
Lets just say I'm not looking forward to doing it, and I am the one everyone goes to to do these sort of things for, I don't mind if I mess up their computers that much but this laptop is my baby :D

  • Why is it taking forever to move objects in AI? I am completely up to date in CC 2014

I am working on Trade Show Banners, 8' x 31".  Using linked eps files for all the images that have to go in it. If AI isn't crashing, it's taking forever for every thing I try to do!!!  So now, if I adjust kerning, I save. It takes 8-10 minutes to save. Next thing - 8-10 min to move an object. Then 8-10 min to save because when it crashes I lose all the work. This is driving me nuts. I have deadlines!

    1. What OS? OS X Yosemite 10.10.2  Mac Pro
    2. How much RAM? 16GB (1066 MHZ DDR3 ECC)
    3. Is your Preferences > Scratch Disks set up properly? How much free space on your scratch disks? Scratch disk 1: 379.28 GB free
scratch disk 2: 360.61 GB free
    4. Are you doing any raster effects on this large document? If so, how big are they, and at what resolution? (Effect > Document Raster Effects Settings...) CMYK, 300 pip, Transp. Bkgrnd, Preserve spot colors
    5. How large are the placed files, and from what source (AI, Photoshop, etc.)? Are you embedding any of the placed files, or are they all linked?  All are linked .eps files vary, from 8mg, 12 mg, 32mg, 43mg, etc. all food and equipment shots.
I appreciate any help! I update constantly and it seems that this last update has put a spanner in the works! I've read so many solutions. I use safari, not chrome...
    thanks!

  • Repair permissions taking forever

I repaired disk permissions and then
I installed Leopard without any problem.
    Then did software updates.
    Now, I'm repairing permissions again,
but this time it's taking forever to complete.
I've been stuck at "Repairing Permissions.Estimated time: calculating" for nearly 15 minutes and counting.
The progress bar next to this message is less that 1/4 in blue.
    Is something wrong?!
    please, say it isn't so!!
    Message was edited by: teresita

Yes, repair permissions takes MUCH longer in Leopard. I've upgraded three systems and they all take what seems like 10 - 15 minutes (10.4.11 took less than one minute). Guess we were "spoiled" with previous versions

  • Why does the ATI Graphics Driver p6624y taking forever to install

my HP advisor suggested I install an ATI Graphics driver update ... p5524y ... so I am attempting to do so.  It set a restore point, checked available disk space, connected and downloaded rather quickly ... but the INSTALL/APPLY is taking forever (been running in excess of 1 hour now with 0% showing on progress bar.

    Hello KenBayPark,
Have you tried stopping the update and attempting to install again? It could of just been a glitch.

  • ITunes 10 is taking my money!  And taking forever!

I've updated to iTunes 10, now when I try to purchase a song, it never actually does it, but it still takes the money off of my account! It is also taking forever to do anything...what do I do???

You are experiencing a problem many others have reported.  Basically, during the matching process, if there is a "clean" version of an "explicit" song, Apple is matching to the "clean" one.  The explicit track is still on your computer unless you've removed it.
As for who would want a "clean" version of anything, only people who have purchased it could tell you why.  Consider the legal implications, however, if someone who wanted "clean" versions suddenly found all their music had gone, well, nasty!
Apple's legal department may have forced engineering to put some measures in place to keep that from happening.  If they did, they're working a little too well.  Hopefully with time Apple will get it straightened out.

  • System restore taking forever

after instaling windows updates i  restored windows and its taking forever right now its at restoring rejistery and its been there for about 3 hours what should i do?
    thanks

    Yup! it is frozen.
I got the same problem with my system just last week. I tried re-do it a few times, no resolved.
I first tried with SSD, everything went smoothly until I removed the last disc from the PC and the computer started installing all original factory softwares. I left it overnight and even half of a day next day. It kept going....
I decided shut it down and re-do it with a brand new 1TB HDD, it did the same thing...
Then I tried it with another brand new 1.5TB HDD, same thing happened...
I was just about to give up, but I thought I gona give it one time try. This time I got another 320GB HDD.. It did the same.
Then I just remembered I connected all those drives to the SATA slot other than the slot that my old C: drive was connected to.
I reconnected the new 320GB to this old "C:" slot SATA and tried to restore again... guess what? It works...
    My problem solved!!!!
    Hope this helps!

  • Logic Pro 9 upgrade is taking forever!!

Hi, what could my problems be? I just installed 10.6.3 and did the combo update to 10.6.4. Now I just bought the Logic Pro 9 upgrade and it is taking FOREVER!!!! Over 6 hours and it is still not done!! Why is this so slow? My machine is a Mac Pro dual 2x2.66Ghz with 8 gigs of ram. OSX 10.6.4 with 4 brand new WD cavair black drives. I am ready to quit this installer. This is ridiculously wrong?

Uh oh! Is there anyway to test to see if it's my optical drive? Now I try the install and it takes a long time then... just says install failed after about two hours of installing. I now have Logic Pro installed but the audio content DVD's and jam pack I don't think are installed. I tried just installing only them, but the installer gives the installation failed message.
