Updater no longer working.

W520 running W7 64 bit for last few years with no problems getting Lenovo updater to run. Then I got a message that Lenovo Solution Center needed to be updated. I updated it and ever since when I open Solution Center and ask it to update Lenovo, the Lenovo System Updater box comes up sits there for a while and instead of going on it just disapears. POOF it's gone no error message nothing. So I went out to Lenovo and got the Lenovo System Updater download to reinstall it, thinking it needed updating also. When I tried to install the updater it wanted to remove the old one in my computer. I said fine. It wanted to know how much to remove? The first time I said minimum the second time I said all. Both tries resulted in messages saying "it was interrupted and could not finish for me to try later." I tried again making sure I had all firewalls and virus scan etc shut off. Still same message. I rolled the computer back to a time I knew Lenovo Updater worked and now it doesn't work back there. Does anyone have a solution?

Reinstall Solution Center manually? (If you don't need any of it's features, just uninstall it instead.)

  • Software Update no longer works

My Software Update no longer works. Error message: "Software Update can't connect to the update server." Learned it might be caused by my anti-virus software (Sophos), so I de-installed it. Tried every remedy mentioned on various internet sites, to no avail. Has anyone had and solved this problem

  • Iphone 2.0 update no longer working with Chrysler Uconnect Hands Free

Hello. I recently downloaded the 2.0 update for my original iphone and it will no longer work with the my Uconnect hands free setup in my 2008 Dodge Ram. I am a Chrysler Dealer Parts Manager and have installed and shown many people how to set these uconnect hands free devices up but I have no connection with the 2.0 update. I pair the phone as a new phone and it will pair but will not show up at all and it says "No Phone". Anybody know a fix for this. Help Apple!!!

I have a new Dodge Nitro. U Connect and iphone were working great. I had no problems until the 2.0 update. I tried calling apple care but gave up quickly when I realized I was going to be waiting forever with everything else they have going on.
The weird thing was that I was on a call trying to get some help from a friend of mine and all of a sudden the phone started working with the u connect. Then after leaving and returning to the car it stopped working again. Haven't been able to get it working since. I though maybe you had to be on a call for a while before it would transfer over. That wasn't it.
I tried turning off wireless too. Again no effect.
The phone shows that it is paired with the u connect. I've tried unpairing and repairing several times still to no effect. They just aren't working. This is a HUGE problem. I love my iPhone but may have to give it up and switch if they don't come up with a fix in the next month or so.
Anybody who can help me solve this would definitely move to the top of my Christmas Card List!

  • Hide Update no longer working in Yosemite

I've looked at many threads for an answer to this, but while many are close, I've yet to find an answer to this specific issue.
Before Yosemite, you could "hide" software update notifications from the App Store by Control (right) clicking in the body of the Update notice in the App Store and be presented with the option to "Hide Update". Since moving to Yosemite, this no longer works for me. It's not just that you don't get the option to hide - sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. And even when you do, it doesn't work. For example, right now I have Notices for 2 updates, one for Digital Raw Compatibility, and one for iMovie, neither of which I want. When I Control click on the "Raw" update the little dialog box to "Hide Update" appears but clicking on it does nothing. With the iMovie update, Control clicking does not even present that option.
Not an earth shattering issue, but that little red number in the AppStore dock icon and the daily Notifications bug me out.

  • Shift button + restore / check for update no longer works

Hello the shift and restore no longer works. It was taken away in an earlier version of itunes. I'm using the 64bit version but im sure it dosent work in 32bit version either. I still see posts referencing to it what is going on. I'm running it as administrator and I have full keyboard short cuts turned on. Any help would be great.

Unfortunately, downgrading your firmware is not supported by Apple.
(and yes, I know it's possible, you just won't get help here)

  • 3.0 update no longer works with dock!

    Hi
Since my iphone 3g upgraded to 3.0 I can no longer use my apple usb dock as the computer does nto recognize the device.
Why must apple be so annoying?
Does anyone else use a dock and can no longer? Having it plugged into a cable on my work desk is really ugly and scratches the back! :o(

No problems at all for me. I hace 02 docks: Apple 3G Dock and a Altec Lansing Speaker/Dock combination (T-612). Both work 100% ok as they did before the update.

  • Sharing by Outlook after 3.4 Update No Longer Working...?

Since the 3.4 update I can no longer email photos via Outlook as I used to be able to.
Clicking the email button starts Outlook and then nothing esle.
This happened before but using a method posted on here by a more experinced user had solved the problem.
After the update all scripts in Aperture reverted back to their original and applying the aforementioned fix does not work any longer.
Does anyone have an ideas on a fix?

Does anyone know if Automator can be used as an alternative to gettign photos to outlook?
I tried using Mac Mail and heres my problem...
The photos appear as 'inline' images in the main body of the email, not as standard attachments. I send photos of my twins to my folks and they are not that savvy to try and download the image first and then open it up. And to be honest thats a pain in the butt!
I found a webpage that directed me to add a line via terminal that stopped Mail doing that, and placed tradtional attachment icons in the mail but the recipent jist gets thumb nails of the photo that I then have to explain how to right clik on it, download it, open it and so on....
This is so ridiculous of Apple.

  • AD updates no longer working also unable to remove old users Authentication

Currently on BO XI.  I have issues with our AD authentication:
Our network team decided to move the AD group that we were using for Business Objects.  Once they did this, no new users were being imported and invalid ones were no longer updated whenever we click "update" on the AD plugin page.  The good thing is that all of the users are still there in BO and not deleted even though the group location in AD has been changed.
We changed the mapped AD location so that it points to the new location but we are still having the same problem.  No new users are being imported and we are now unable to delete users that are no longer in the current AD location.
Whenever we try to delete a user that is no longer in the AD group, the system seems to just hangs.  The new users are not being automatically refreshed and added to the user list unless we manually add them.
If you know what the problem is, please help!
    Thanks!

Did anyone here move a group from 1 domain to another using a tool like [this one |http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6f86937b-533a-466d-a8e8-aff85ad3d212&displaylang=en?]
We have run into a new issue that affects all versions of our product and supported versions of AD. If a group was migrated from 1 domain to another (using a tool such as the above link) which changed the group DN and SID (but doesn't delete the SID), then our product can produce symptoms such as listed in this thread. (CMS will no longer update, users no longer found, cannot add/remove groups, cannot login with AD)
rebuilding would fix as the new group DN and SID would be added but this is not desirable as data would be lost. The issue is extremely difficult to repair and we are currently working on a fix to make XI 3.x handle this situation better. If you are considering migrating groups from 1 domain to another do it by creating and mapping the new group in the new domain, adding the users from the old domain\group to the new one, assigning any permissions, then removing the old group from the CMS 1st then AD. If you have already migrated groups like this then you will most likely need help from support to see if we can manually fix or else rebuild your server DB (again this means all existing info will be lost).

  • Live Update no longer working on iPod Classic

I have "Live Update" selected on many smart playlists on my iPod Classic. The playlists no longer Live Update, I need to re-sync in order to update the playlist.
This started happening around iTunes v11.1. My iPod has the most recent firmware, which hasn't been updated in years.

    Dear Chris:
Yes, turning off Protected Mode indeed solves the problem!
Specifically, we today (June 9, 2012) installed the new Adobe Flash v. 11.3.300.257 on several Windows 7 PC's, all running Firefox v. 14 (Beta), and none of the Firefox installations would confirm that the installation was performed successfully.  For example, the Adobe Flast test/about site, https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about, would not work.  And, likewise, YouTube videos and other Flash-encoded videos did not work either.
So, we tried your suggestion to disable the new Protected Mode, and it worked.  That is, every single machine on which Flash did not work in Firefox now functions perfectly.  So this conclusively demonstrates that there indeed is some kind of bug in the implementation of Protected Mode.
Can you please let me and the other Adobe users know when this is fixed.  Thanks.
Also, could you likewise let us know the risks of turning of Protected Mode (although we really don't have any choice, as Flash will not work on Firefox with PM turned on).
    Thank you.  Much appreciated.
    Kind regards,

  • Update no longer works with Outlook 2002

I recently updated Itunes as suggested by the software and now I can't sync with Outlook 2002. I have no need for 2003 and am wondering if there is any work around so I can continue to sync? It is not a major issue, since I don't use my Ipod to see my calendar or contacts except when I am out of the country, but it is a minor inconvenience, as I have to print out stuff otherwise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No problems at all for me. I hace 02 docks: Apple 3G Dock and a Altec Lansing Speaker/Dock combination (T-612). Both work 100% ok as they did before the update.

  • Software update no longer works after 10.4.9 update

After I applied the 10.4.9 update, using the combo updater and fixing permissions both before and after, Software Update can no longer connect to the Internet. I also ran Onyx, but it didn't make a difference.
Any ideas? Could a network-end firewall make a difference?

I just came across an article on the Unsanity weblog, www.insanity.org/archives/macos_x/shock_andawe.php, entitled: "The Dangers of Updating: Don't Do Anything While Optimizing." It says there is a bug in 10.4.9, of which Apple is aware, that messes up "prebinding" if any other activity is done while the optimizating is going on. Using Mac Helpmate 1.1, I optimized "update prebinding." It characterized that process as "Reassociating applications with their dynamic libraries." It returned a log as long as King Kong's arm saying many times, "environment variable disabled use of prebinding in (file name)." An inability to Download Updates is not a result mentioned in the Unsanity weblog, but it may be a result nevertheless. I have frequently used other applications while downloading updates. If this is the cause of the problem, I still don't know what to do about it. John Nelms, [email protected]

  • T500 - Windows Update no longer works after using factory recovery disks.

I'm running  Windows 7 32bit.  I needed to restore my T-500 hard drive because of a fatal windows registry error caused by a 3rd party registry cleaner/tuner software... Windows 7 was DOA .
I used the factory recovery disks I created after I first fired up the laptop in April this year, all went well, Windows 7 booted up, and I went through the "Starting Widows for the first time" setup dialog, Windows 7 sucessfully activated... also verfifed it on the Microsoft website.
Went into control panel to have windows update pull down all of the critical updates released after I got my Thinkpad and I got a pop up saying "windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer."
I checked... the windows update service is running, so is BITS.  Following suggestions from Microsoft support, I have 1)deleted the softwaredistribution folder from C:\windows, 2) run their "fixit tool", 3) renamed the CatRoot2 folder in C:\windows'system32, all to no avail each time I tried to use windows update after each "fix".
I decided to check here if anyone here has gone down this path before and ask what fixed it?
I'm waiting for Microsoft support to reply to my last email informing them the last instructions to rename the CatRoot2 folder and retry windows update failed. They now have a copy of my windowsupdate.log file sent to them.
How about it... does this situation sound familiar to anyone?
    Thanks.

I run into the same problem with fresh installation of W7 Pro on T530 with 1TB samsung disk.
    This solution worked for me:
Running check for updates will trigger this error message:
“Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.”
    Solution:
    1.    Go to Administrative Tools/Services, and stop the Windows Update service.
    2.    Then go to the folder c: /Windows/SoftwareDistribution and delete all of the files and folders.
    3.    Then go back to Services and restart the Windows Update service which will recreate all of those folders again.
    4.    Then manually run the Update Service and everything should work.

  • Windows Update no longer works after using Lenovo Enhanced Recovery

Using the system recovery backup disk I created when I first got my T500, I performed a recovery to a new larger HD that I'm upgrading to.
All went well, windows booted up and I got the "Starting Windows for the first time" message and then I went through the setup wizard... Did everything like I did when first got the T500.  Windows 7 activation was successful
Now here's the rub, I tried to use Windows Update retrieve all of the updates released since April when my laptop was built.  Windows Update flat out refuses to work. I keep getting a pop-up box saying "windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to start your computer".
I checked the Windows Update service, it's running.  I've gone into the windows folder and deleted the software distribution folder as instructed by Microsoft support. They wanted me to also download and install a "CheckSUR"  tool from their support website, but the install falls with a a pop-up from Windows Update Standalone Installer with an error: 0xc8000247.
Now this is all on the new HD, when I swap the older on back in there is no problem getting the updates.
I'm stuck,  has anyone encountered this type of thing with Windows Update?

I executed the "fixit" in both modes at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
Windows update still refuses to work. All pertinent services are running.
Since this is an attempt at installing a larger hd, I swapped back to the original drive and verified that windows update has no problems when running on the original HD.
I've now started again from scratch.
I put the new  larger HD in a SATA/USB HD docking station that I just bought. I formatted the new HD clean, then instead of using the factory recovery disks like I did before, I used Acronis True Image, which I downloaded from the Western Digital support webpage, to clone the original HD over to the new one.
I powered off the laptop, pulled the original HD out and put the new HD in , unplugged the now empty SATA/USB HD docking station, booted up, windows starts and comes up with all looking fine, except... again, windows update still refuses to work.
I went back to the Microsoft website above, ran the fixit action in aggressive mode, and windows updates still gets the same result... When I open windows update in control panel, Windows Update is in red.  When I check for updates, I get the pop-up saying "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running.  You may need to restart your computer".
A check of services shows that Windows Update, Cryptographic Service and Background Intelligent Transfer Service are all started.
This is really frustrating... this should be a simple HD upgrade.   It appears that with whatever means that is used to copy or place an image of the original HD on the new HD, Windows 7 is not going to let me use update on the new drive.

  • Updates no longer work since I installed a trial of After Effects CC

    Hi there
I have a work computer with a fully licensed suite of CS6 apps. However I installed an trial of After Effects CC using my personal adobe id and now I cannot receive any updates. They fail immediately. I installed the latest Adobe Application manager but I'm worried i've just made the situation worse. The updates stick on 0%.
Is there any way I can easily restore things to how they were? My IT administrator is suggesting flattening my machine and reinstalling everything but that seems a little extreme! (Not to mention time consuming).
I just want to update my apps again!
    Thanks in advance
    Bob

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall from scratch.

  • New Airport Update no longer works with my Verizon supplied DSL WiFi

While at work today (03-28-08) I allowed the new Airport software update to install. This was done over an ethernet connection. I arrived home, my Macbook will not recognize the Westel DSL modem/WiFi that I've had for some time and was provided by Verizon. It keeps asking for a password and this is a WiFi set up without a password.
I'm writing this on my wife's Macbook of the same vintage but without the Airport update.
Any suggestions on how to move back to the old version of airport so I can get back to work again? Any chance there will be another update to fix this problem? Help, I don't really want to run an ethernet cable across my house to fix this.
I'm fearing that this is the same problem my father had when he visited with his Macbook Pro with Leopard.

Hi Jeff, i had the same issue after i updated the to the latest airport software install this morning(3/29/08).
I think you're going to have to update your Westell Modem.
Give the following a try, it worked for me.
    Go to:
    http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/site/msa/?epi_menuItemID=c567d167631f69212 4525d7253295c48&bookmark=helpitem&case=VersaLinkFix
Now look at the model number under the modem itself and download the correct upgrade.
If you download using the mac, you will see a .upg file begin to download. Once its downloaded you have to log into the Westell modem by either the IP address or just by going to http://dslrouter/ .
Then you have to look for the upgrade menu and your going to choose local upgrade and select the .upg file. at that point it will take about 4-5 minutes for your Westell to upgrade itself and start working again with you macbook's wireless.
Hope it helps, Good luck and let us know if it worked for you.

  • Software Update no longer working

    Hi everybody,
It seems that Software Update on my mac has mysteriously stopped working. Running the actual application just gives a message that there aren't any updates available. I checked the log in System Preferences, and it seems that the latest update that I got was the daylight savings time update on March 6th.
On a similar thread, whenever iTunes loads, it says that version 7.1.1 is available, and asks if I want to update. When I click yes, it sends me to Software Update which finds nothing.
Any idea why this would be happening, and how I can fix it? Everything else on my computer seems to be running normally. I'm on an iMac G5 1.9GHz w/ 1.5GB ram, running Mac OS 10.4.8, and I have about 80GB of free space. I'm trying to run updates logged in as admin, so that's not the problem. I've run Disk Utility, and there are no errors with the hard drive. Just to be safe, I ran Repair Permissions.
I've tried installing the updates directly from Apple's site (downloading the PPC versions of the 10.4.8 and 10.4.9 updates and combo updates), but when I try to run the installer, they all have a stop sign with an exclamation mark over the drive with the ever so helpful error message "You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." The installer's log shows no hints as to what these requirements may be. I downloaded the iTunes 7.1.1 installer from Apple's website, and it fails saying that it can't install for an 'unknown reason.'
Any help would be incredibly appreciated. I've been trying to fix this for days, and I'm about ready to throw this computer out the window. My best guess as to the root of the problem is some software that I've installed, although my system is pretty bare. Beyond the default applications that it came with, I've installed XCode and Microsoft Office 2004, as well as some smaller apps like Adium, Colloquy and Firefox.
    Thanks,
    Martin.

This error can occur if your hard drive requires repair. Do this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Now try installing the updates.
